Enjoy the ocean and the sound from this comfortable home. The walk to the ocean is short, and the beaches at this quiet end of Oak Island are uncrowded and spacious. The sun rises on the east end of the ocean front and sets on the west end. In summer, the sunset is viewed from the sound-side deck. As the day progresses, the sound side deck usually has shade by noon while the ocean side deck enjoys sunshine.
Keywords: Located at the quiet, uncrowded west end of Oak Island, NC. Spacious unspoiled beach, clean and natural.

Great Weekend

We really enjoyed our stay at Mariners Watch. We went in February so the weather wasn't the best but we still enjoyed walks on the beach and sitting on the deck. The house was very clean and well supplied. It was easy to get to with the new bridge.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: We are glad you had a restful weekend even though the weather was not helpful. We think that any time one can get in a walk on the beach the day is worthwhile! Hopefully you can return in better weather.

We had a lovely stay at Mariners Watch from 7/28-8/4/2012. The house was exactly as advertised. It had everything we needed. We loved the outside shower and didn't even use the inside baths except to occasiionally bathe our toddler. If you are travelling with little ones, there is a pack and play and toddler high chair in the closet and some games and videos you can use. The back deck has nice wood glider, rocking chairs, chaise lounges and table and chairs with cushions. You can see the ocean from the back deck. There is easy and close beach access, just a short walk through neighbor's backyard, cross street then take private path. The house is very near the Point for great shelling and the Fish House Restaurant at the Marina (don't miss it. Go early i.e. before 6pm as there are few tables for large parties. Great sunsets and terrific fresh fish. My husband loved the "White Cap" 16 oz rib eye covered in crab dip then grilled shrimp. The mahi and grits were also excellent.) The owner was very helpful and quick to respond. She suggested Fort Fisher for a rainy day and it was a perfect day excursion. Our children loved feeding the birds from the ferry and the aquarium is quite lovely - with sharks, turtles, stingrays, albino alligator and sea animals that the children can touch. Suggest packing a picnic though. The aquarium food is minimal. Remember to close the deck umbrella if you use it. We broke theirs when a thunderstorm came during the night. Carolyn didn't charge us for it, though. Thanks! I hope you have a lovely visit to OKI too!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for all the positive comments! We have tried hard to make our cottage welcoming to families so that they may make wonderful memories together at this special beach! We are delighted you enjoyed our house and we hope you will stay with us again in the future!

Everything about Mariners Watch was exactly as advertised and was the perfect vacation spot for our family. The walk to the beach was short and convenient; the drive to the "Point" was minutes. The owners were extremely helpful and the house was well-stocked with everything we needed. We have returned home stress-free and cannot wait until next year when we can return to OKI.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you, Denise. We are so happy that you, like us, have left part of your heart on Oak Island. We hope you can return soon!

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: My husband and I bought this house to provide a gathering spot for our family so that we could enjoy the ocean and boating activities. The large driveway provides plenty of room for boats and for children to play; the relaxing sounds of the ocean and the sea buoy force us to slow down and take it easy.
Why the Owner Chose Oak Island:
This location is close to the Blue Water Point Marina, 'The Point' and the beach. While our cottage is not ocean front, the walk is short. The beach is usually a quiet, family-friendly spot with plenty of space to claim as your own to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We love the sound of the breaking waves and the sound of the ocean buoy guiding boats into the Lockwood Folly Inlet. We also love the sightings we often have of dolphins, pelicans, and boats. It is a great place from which we watch sunsrises, sunsets and the stars.
