Chateau de Nevy, Domaine Guiet, is located in Nevy-sur-Seille, Jura , France. The region is commonly referred to by the French as 'Deep France" amd is only recently unlocking its lush green beauty, excellent wines and cheese and delicious regional foods to American Francophiles.

The village is surrounded by vineyards and medieval villages. We are located within an hour drive to Burgundy, Dijon, Besancon, Lyon and Geneva. The immediate countryside is dotted by medieval castles, vineyards and villages which are easily hiked or biked to.

The grounds of Chateau de Nevy and the surrounding countryside
create a wonderment and calm, while experiencing the rich history,
unchanged beauty and lifestyles which surround you. There exists a balance of peaceful, ancient calm and primitive elegance while
experiencing the excellent resturants, wines and local cheeses including Comte and Morbier.

Walking along the river Seille or hiking/biking through the deep forests or well loved vineyards and attending evening concerts hosted in ancient castles overlooking the salt trails of previous
centuries is just outside the gates of our Chateau.

The Chateau originally built by the Secretary of the French Navy for his summer home has been completely restored and furnished to its original splendor. Detailed plaster work was lovingly restored
along with every surface area within the Chateau over our ten year
restoration.

The bedrooms are large and airy with wonderous views out of each window. The bathrooms are modern, large and beautiful. The
Chateau has 3 bathrooms - one on the first floor and the other two on the second floor.

The master suite has an ensuite attached bathroom.

The living room, music room, dining rooms are restored in great detail to their original grand stature while being comfortable and relaxing. The kitchen is large, open, functional with large refrigerators, commercial American stovetop and ovens, double dishwashers and is a great room to cook, sip wine and to laugh in.

The sounds of song birds and waterfalls dropping through the
property is routinely heard as are the ringing of mediveal church bells from the Church of Nevy-sur-Seille and from nearby surrounding villages adding to the sense of lossed in time.

We invite you to share this unique opportunity with us.

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 1997

About the owner: My father was born and raised in Franche-Comte. I have numerous family in this region and throughout France. At the age of 15 my father entered Harvard, returning at the age of 17 to France as a OSS/SOE member in Germany occupied France. He only returned to France in the Fall of 2000 for a museum opening since his missions were just declassfied as of then. I was born in Ohio, am an American citizen, frequently explaining to my French family that I choose to excel in basketball rather than French. My wife and I met the French side of the family while in France attending a World Mountain Bike Championship which one of our sons was racing in. We fell in love with the countryside and lifestyle and the rest has been a progression which makes Peter Mayle's expereinces appear bland ! Our vineyard produces about 2500 bottles of wine per year, some of which, we import to our home in Durango, Colorado.

Why the Owner Chose Lac de Chalain:
For the very good life of a different era.

The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
Fresh, healthy and wonderful foods and wines. Local knowledge of a broad area including Burgundy, Rhone Valley, Lake region of northern Italy and of course the Jura.
