Yes, there are a few cosmetic things that could be done to this house, but it is a rental property. Things are bound to be not EXACTLY what you expect. We had a fantastic time, great location right on Lake Laura and Bryce Resort. Swam in the lake, went hiking, kayaked with our own kayak. Beds were comfortable and it was extremely clean, dishwasher does need some work. Kitchen was well equipped. Suggest using big boulders to put on trash can lid, worked for us so the critters wouldn't get into the trash!!

Owner response: Thanks for choosing our chalet. Yes, your visit was on the heels of a difficult guest (see previous review). We are glad we turned it around quickly and your vacation plans were not disrupted, as a result. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon. Regards, Ken
Not what was expected
Not what was expected
I'm not sure what the other reviewers expected but it must have been very different from my expectations. I rely heavily on reviews and I leave very honest and fair reviews. The pictures show a clean, comfortable and well maintained property. This is not what I found. The carpet in the main living area was so stained I could not bring myself to take off my shoes. The "luxury" bedding was not so much. The pillows were so stained I felt a little ill (thankfully I always travel with my own pillow - the rest of my family made a trip to bed bath and beyond where we bought new pillows and linens.) Both screen doors were broken and had holes so you couldn't even have the deck doors open. The steps to the lake trail was so overgrown with I had a hard time finding them. We couldn't use the dishwasher as it had black mold growing in it. The "game room" is just a room with three old board games that most of the pieces were missing - not even a TV! I will say that the bathrooms were clean and in good condition. Overall this house was once beautiful and it's actually sad that it has been so poorly maintained. I feel bad leaving such a negative review - I don't like being negative but I was so disappointed and embarrassed as I was the planner for this family vacation. I would not ever stay here again. Without some serious maintenance this lake chalet is going to become a lake shack.

Owner response: It's unfortunate that this review was posted...a damage deposit not returned brings out the best in folks, we guess. Our chalet now requires some work as a result, but fortunately, all quick fixes. And, our professional cleaning service will continue to prepare the chalet after each guest, as always, to ensure a clean, comfortable stay. Though we advertise that "the downstairs living area has an awesome game room for the kids or kids at heart to break away and have some fun," its intent is to describe the space as a large, separate area that the kids can use to play or whatever (It also can be converted into a very large bedroom). Although we did leave a few games, it's only because my family plays these particular games from time to time on our trips...I recommend bringing your own family entertainment favorites, as this space is perfect for such! Although our chalet will surely disappoint those who anticipate a 5-star luxury experience (good luck with that at Bryce Mountain), it is certainly not a "shack" nor anything close to that. It is what it is: a professionally maintained, peaceful mountian get-away on the lake, perfect for our family and our reasonable guests.
Nestled on a hill above Lake Laura, the Chalet was a perfect getaway with friends. Kitchen was a little small, but it worked for a group of chefs! Be sure to bring any cookware you can't live without.

Enjoyed the Chalet

Had a lovely weekend in this spacious home. Great view of the lake and a short drive to the resort. House had everything we needed - two fireplaces added warmth and ambiance. Great layout for multiple families due to large, open floorplan and three floors. Owner was a pleasure to work with. Would definitely stay here again.

Starting Summer lakeside
Starting Summer lakeside
My friends and I really enjoyed this house. It has a great open floor plan and is right on Lake Laura. We particularly enjoyed how we could take the walking trail to the public lake access (0.5 mile). The house was not as well as equipped as we would have liked (essential kitchen utensils etc.) but I shared my input with the owners directly and they seemed very receptive. All in all I would stay here again for sure.

Very Enjoyable Stay!!!
Very Enjoyable Stay!!!
We had rented out this beautiful vacation home for New Year's weekend and myself and my friends had a very wonderful stay. I was able to get a lot of praises from my friends for booking such a nice house. It was well worth the price as it was just a few minutes drive from Bryce resort area and it was located right on Lake Laura and provided great views of the Lake Laura and surrounding areas. The owner was very cooperative and responsive right from start of booking till end of our stay. I would definitely recommend this to anybody who would want to look into options for couple or a family getaway for summer and/or winter and it is just a short drive from the Washington DC area.
