   After leaving the cool sanctuary of the plane we burst into the warmth and humidity of Denpasar Airport, Bali. We passed through the various controls without incident  and were pleasantly surprised to see our written names, in the hands of Maday our driver from the villa, awaiting us.He helpfully escorted us to the car and we entered the busy roads of southern Bali.   My first impression of Bali was such that I was pleased that we kept moving, as the immediate impression was not very attractive. Traveling north we began to see more and more open spaces and things continued to improve  until I notice an exceptionally pretty landscape containing all the ingredients that I had hoped to find in this much bespoken island. To my joy and surprise we pulled into a hidden entrance a few hundred meters further down the road and were ushered up a flight of marble stairs to behold a magnificent pool, bracketed by two temple like pyramids with a monumental set of stairs ascending to the villa raised 15 meters above the pool and framed by all kinds of tropical plants and palm trees.    Our luggage was rapidly brought up to the rooms and we were able to climb to the large covered balcony and survey the beautiful view from the top of the house. Sea, volcanoes, a variety of forests, small villages and temples peeping through the trees……….Enough now! I  will leave the rest to those of you who will try this experience ………not to forget that David and his trustworthy staff made every effort to take care of our needs and make us comfortable in this paradise………Thank you for all David.

  Amazing view, location, staff, pool, entrance, bedrooms and all. This has been a beautiful relaxing place. I would recommend this place for a unique place to stay. The ambience is fantastic. The entrance and access to the villa is "special". Take care. Thanks to Wayan - man and woman.

  This is the second time I have been to Majestic Villa (the first being two years ago) and it is even better second time around. Its key attractions are still the wonderful location and the villa itself, which is truly stunning, but the owner has made a number of improvements which make the villa one of the most heavenly places you can imagine. The villa now has wi-fi and an improved kitchen, but it is the small touches which really add to the ambience and the feeling that you have discovered your own piece of untouched paradise - sculptures, furniture, the poolside area - all of this has been added and helped enhance the ambience without detracting from the fact that Majestic Villa is your own piece of paradise in the most exquisite location. I must also say a quick word about the staff and the owner, all of whom made the stay run as smoothly as one could hope. Once again a wonderful stay

  This is a lovely villa. Very secure with locked gates. Great pool!! Waking up to a fabulous view of the sunset in the mornings was amazing. Great Balinese furnishings, really comfy bed and the staff were courteous, friendly, efficient and caring. The Villa Manager, Wayan was excellent. He truly made our holiday fun with frequent trips and loading us up on fresh supplies at all times. The pool access was a bit dodgy especially after a night out, but made it an adventure. Met the local wildlife every evening and loved lounging around on the floor cushions in my sarong. A great 2 weeks of relaxing.

  Majestic Villa really lives up to its name in location, accommodation, cleanliness and accommodating staff. Close enough to Ubud when you need it, but when you don't, a wonderful place to relax and chill by the pool - and what a pool! There is so much detail and thought in the design of the villa. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were readily available any time of the day or night. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it for families with teenagers.

  We stayed at Majestic Villa only two nights and wished we had stayed there for many more. The property indeed was majestic sitting atop a mountain with truly spectacular views from the second floor veranda. The villa was full of personal touches such as art work and travel books which gave it a cozy feel in a spacious house. The bedrooms had nice furnishings but the best part of the villa was the magnificent pool! We've stayed at five star hotel before and this was by the far the best pool being that not only it was private but beautiful as well. The groundskeeper kept it meticulous and I just loved lounging surrounded by a lush flowering garden, incredible house and breathtaking views. The staff were wonderful people also, very accomodating and gracious. Wayan the villa manager miraculously appears just when you need something and both the house and grounds were meticulously kept. Only caution is if you are suffering from bad knees the steep stairways might be a challenge. We were sad to leave after only two days and I am still dreaming of the pool especially as I am looking out my window at the six inches of snow accumulation.

  Four of us stayed at Majestic Villa in March 2011 and we were all very impressed with the villa and with the super friendly and helpful Wayan 1 and 2 (driver/guide and cleaner/cook). The villa is just awesome - we felt very lucky to have this lovely house and pool all to ourselves for a fee less than a simple hotel room in central Ubud. And it was nice being outside of the downtown bustle. For a very small fee Wayan was on hand at any time to take us for great drives through the paddy fields and local communities. Finally the view from the villa represented everything I was looking for in fabled Bali - lush, brilliant green, exotic plants and bird life, an ancient temple over the valley, and the sweeping view that stretches from the beach to the mountains. I strongly recommend Majestic Villa.

  We are all homesick for the Majestic Villa and Wayan, the villa manager and his extended family and friends who always made themselves happily available to us. The villa is set in a beautiful location with breathtaking views. We travelled with 4 adults and 4 children under 7 years. It was a great introduction to Bali for them as the little village Bukit Batu was quiet and filled with friendly people - although we were lucky enough to be there during a one in 36 year full moon festival - so we were serendaded with the gamelan orchestra into the night and early in the morning. The Villa was clean - our beds were made daily but linen not changed unless requested. We were cooked pancakes with banana and pineapple every monring with a plunger of fresh coffee or a pot of tea by Wayan (female) - who was also so beautiful and gracious. We purchased our groceries enroute to the villa on the first day and then Wayan would help us to buy milk and fruit when needed. Wayan also took our laundry when requested and delivered it back clean and pressed for a token - " local price" which he also did for our cases of Bintang and water. I could go on and on but definately recommend Majestic Villa and we hope to be back in the near future. Have to also mention - easy to book and confirm - e-mails were replyed to very quickly - David was great.

  We are a family of five and spent seven nights at the Villa. Our children are of preteen age. The Villa has a splendid panoramic view of the 3,142m high volcanic peak of Mt agung which dominants the outlook. The base of the volcano can be seen disappearing to the south into the distant ocean. In the foreground are rice terraces and plantations. The top floor of the Villa is open and spacious with a high thatched roof built in typical Balinese style, the ideal vantage to take in the picture perfect outlook. We spent much time sitting, relaxing, reading or watching movies on the TV and surround sound system on the top floor, whilst our children spent many hours playing in the well sized pool or watching their own movies in the downstairs bedrooms. The Villa is in a quiet area, self contained, private, secure and perfect for children to play and entertain themselves. The transport arrangements are excellent although must be paid for, with a local mobile phone being provided and a driver (Wayan) available on call. The Villa is staffed by a driver/carer, cleaner and gardener. In typical Balinese style, the staff could not do enough to please us or our children. They even cooked breakfast for us some mornings. We spent three evenings in Ubud and spent the rest of the time rafting, exploring volcanoes, exploring temples, spending a day at the Safari Park or resting at the Villa. Our gardener also took us for a walk through the rice terraces in front of the Villa to a temple and lookout. A very enjoyable walk and a great, close up look at local life. Whilst the Villa is not in the heart of Ubud, we did not feel disadvantaged because of the excellent transport arrangements in place; and knowing that transport is essential to go anywhere in Bali anyway. The Villa was central to our activities and was the perfect place to come back to, unwind and know that our children were secure and safe. We left the Villa for a further week in Kuta. Our children wanted to know if Wayan was coming with us. The Villa owner, David, was contactable, responsive and interested in our well being. We had a very enjoyable stay!!!

  I only have a few favourite places in the world: the islands off Sicily, New York, the Sydney Opera House and Bali.. but the Villa Majestic at Bukit Batu has been added to the very short list. From the unceasing cheerfulness of the two Wayans and Nyoman, to the pink frangipani dropping into the pool and the perfect temperature during the entire week, it was almost impossible to feel anything but pure bliss at our good fortune in staying there. It may have been a little far through the traffic for my friend's hectic schedule during the Ubud Writer's Festival, but the location more than compensated. The only problem was having to get up from the beautiful pool and go out. We were fortunate enough to visit the Four Seasons and Amandari resorts during our stay. Their outlook is nothing compared to the Villa Majestic. And as a artist, the more I observed the landscape at sunrise and during the day, the more I appreciated what an extraordinary location it was.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
