Shenandoah house description
Over shadowed by the historic Norfolk Southern Railroad and situated along the Shenandoah River this one of a kind post-civil war built private vacation rental, entitled the 'REEL EASY RIVER CABIN', has much to offer the history and outdoor lover with a nostalgic look, dual mountain views and direct riverfront access...canoeing and fishing are a must.
Centrally located just 15 miles from Massanutten Ski & Indoor/Outdoor Water Park Resort and historic Luray featuring Luray Caverns the most popular cave in Eastern America and an internationally acclaimed destination. Also internationally acclaimed is the Shenandoah National Park featuring the breathtaking Skyline Drive located only 17 miles from the property.
The REEL EASY RIVER CABIN has been uniquely renovated and furnished to preserve its historic character and country charm. On the inside you will find several old-school accents, games, antiques, vintage artifacts, movies, and interesting reading materials that will most certainly take you back in time.
On the outside, sit and enjoy both the river and the unique dual mountain views of the Blue Ridge and Massanutten mountain ranges as the mighty trains pass by and cross the arched stone tunnel located on the property line or take a quiet walk through the tunnel to explore the civil war graves just up the old wagon trail.
The REEL EASY RIVER CABIN sits on a river view beautiful lot and offers a large enclosed deck, fenced-in side yard complete with dog house, 2 BBQ grills, 4 fire pits, and a floating dock for your picnicking, fishing and swimming enjoyment. Tubes, canoes and kayaks are provided at no extra charge for entire visit so that you can either canoe/kayak the Shenandoah River or just stretch back in one of our tubes and float your day away.
While you are out, note that wild life is abundant and frequently spotted are bear, deer, turkey, otters, bald eagles, geese, ducks and various other types of land critters and waterfowl. The large and smallmouth bass populations in the river are also abundant making for excellent fishing...from the bank, private dock or on the water.
We hope that you will decide to come visit and firsthand experience all that the Shenandoah Valley region has to offer and while lodging with us at this truly one of a kind private vacation rental. Fantastic Weekend Getaway
Fantastic Weekend Getaway
Reel Easy was the perfect place for my friend and I to get away from it all. It was comfortable and cozy (rustic chic, if you will), had fantastic views, and was centrally located to all of our day activities. The owners sent us easy and well explained instructions on the house operations, check in/out, and had suggestions of a few adventures we could take. Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park are so close we could spend a great deal of time hiking and sight seeing, then come back to the Reel Easy to make a nice dinner and enjoy a campfire. My friend and I like to cook, so we found the kitchen to be minimally outfitted with proper pots and pans, but we still managed to create some very delicious meals I hope we can get back this summer to enjoy the canoes. All in all, we had a great weekend and Reel Easy was a good value for the money spent.

New Year's Gathering
New Year's Gathering
We had such a fun, comfortable time at the Reel Easy. Despite the cold conditions outside, the cabin was very warm with the use of efficient gas heating. Delicious well water to drink as well! The land is beautiful-- River front access, a stone tunnel to walk through to then be greeted by trails of woods, and even a small cemetery with graves of civil war ancestors! I can only imagine being at the Reel Easy during warmer months-- to take advantage of canoeing, the cozy screened-in porch, large deck, and numerous fire pits to gather round. Highly recommended!

Perfect place to vacation
Perfect place to vacation
We had a great time at this cabin. It exceeded our expectations and our only complaint was how little time we had to enjoy it. The fishing and canoeing was excellent and we were thrilled with how close to the water and quiet it was. The rooms and decoration were fun and added to the experience. We enjoyed the fire pit, grilling on the deck and our dogs loved being able to hang out with us in the fenced yard. It was perfect for what we wanted for a weekend in the Shenandoah Valley. We are hopeful we can return soon. Thanks so much!!

Relaxing River House
Relaxing River House
The Reel Easy River Cabin was a great place for a getaway weekend with friends. It is uniquely decorated with a lot of sleeping space. Many things were supplied for us which is very nice (silverware, appliances, grill, sheets, towels, etc.). It is right by the river with a nice dock, and there is a lot of land to enjoy games out in the yard. We had a great time floating down the river in the tubes and canoes that were provided as well. I would definitely recommend renting this cabin. We plan on returning!
