Estes Park house description

Ridgeview Lodge is nestled in the trees atop a hill overlooking the quaint town of Estes Park with stunning mountain views of Lumpy Ridge and the Twin Owls. Here you have the best of both worlds - you can escape to the mountains and relax, yet it’s only a 5 minute walk into the center of town to enjoy shops and restaurants! Open up the windows and listen to the calming sound of the river. Do you love the outdoors? The majestic Rocky Mountain National Park is just a 5 min drive away where you can enjoy wildlife, hundreds of hiking trails, rock climbing, amazing views, beautiful drives, numerous lakes and waterfalls as well as snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

The spacious, open floor plan of this home allows plenty of room for everyone as well as gathering space to spend quality time together. The master bedroom has it’s own half bath for privacy, a plush queen size log bed, dresser, closet and writing desk. The 2nd bedroom is quite large and offers versatility for kids or adults with a log bunk bed that has a twin bed on top and queen on the bottom. There is a large dresser and plenty of closet space as well as a stash of board games and toys. These guests enjoy a full bath with tub/shower just down the hall. This home has a tankless water heater which allows back-to-back showers so all guests can enjoy a hot shower in the morning!

Downstairs is a beautiful separate suite with its own bathroom with shower, kitchenette with fridge and microwave, gas fireplace and private patio. The large suite has a queen size bed, dresser, closet and a futon that folds out to queen size as well. Guests in this suite also enjoy their own flat screen TV. With large windows and the same stunning views enjoyed upstairs, it’s hard to decide who gets to stay in this room! If desired, maximum privacy can be achieved by closing a door atop the stairs to separate this room from the rest of the house. It even has its own entrance from the outside. Overall, we can accommodate 8 guests in this home.

In the living area, enjoy two full size sofas, a flat screen TV with blu-ray player and library of movies to watch, or relax and read a book. We have lots of books about the local area so you’ll have no trouble finding things to do, if you ever want to leave the house! There is a loft above the living room with some comfy chairs and plenty of reading material. Our dining room seats 6-8 with mountain views and warmth from the wood burning stove. If you prefer to eat outdoors, the deck seats 11 and boasts amazing mountain views as well as a view of town. Enjoy the lovely sounds of the river while outside and open up the windows to enjoy it inside as well. The open kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, bakeware, serving dishes, dishes and utensils...just bring home the groceries and prepare a lovely meal for the family. We also have a Cuisinart CrockPot, toaster, blender, coffee pot, electric tea kettle, baking dishes, pizza pan, cookie sheets and mixing bowls. If you want to relax and let someone else do the cooking, we have provided menus from many places in town, including lots who deliver!

We want you to get the most out of your vacation so we have provided lots of information on things to do in town and in the national park. You can also find the events calendar for the town in the links section on our website. Our 16 hour drive was totally worth it! Being able to bring the entire family (dogs included) was fantastic! The house is in the perfect location. Our kids chased chipmunks down the hill and loved every bit of it, especially the loft. The views are amazing!! We were able to make a lifetime of memories at the Lodge. Many thanks to Christie for being a wonderful host. We hope to be able to return in the future.

We had a wonderful time at Ridgeview. My wife and I took my parents and our Yellow Lab Maggie along with their yellow Lab Megan. (the dogs are sisters) The home was beautiful and fit our vacation perfectly. We often decided to just stay at the house for several hours at a time instead of getting out in the car and traveling about Estes and the Park. The views were spectacular and the home was so comfortable. We will be back for sure! Tim & Jane Theobald

This is the second winter I have spend thirty days here at Ridgeview. I love it more today than I did last winter. It totally feels like home. Christie is so wonderful. She goes above and beyond to make you feel totally comfortable here. The kitchen is nicely stocked, the couches and beds are very comfortable and the entire home was extremely clean. As far as I’m concerned, Christie has all your comforts handled beautifully. Once again this year, many deer came to visit me here at Ridgeview along with numerous types of birds. I saw a few elk in the neighborhood too. Of course you can always go critter watching in RMNP and see huge herds of elk. Although only my oldest grandson came to visit me this year during my stay, there was still a number of toys at Ridgeview he enjoyed playing with during “grandma rest times”. Please don’t think there is nothing to do in and around Estes Park during the wintertime. We had so much fun going horseback riding, sledding at Hidden Valley, hiking in RMNP, shopping and dining in the numerous wonderful places in Estes. I have to admit that the highlight for my grandson, my son and me was going snowshoeing around the Bear Lake and Glacier Gorge area. None of us had ever been snowshoeing before and what a wonderful time we had! If you have never been, I highly recommend it. Fun, Fun, Fun!!

Our family and I had made reservations before all of the flooding, and were unsure about keeping the dates. Christie was so awesome about keeping us updated, working with us, and just being the perfect owner for a vacation rental! It was our 3rd trip to Estes in a year, and Ridgeview Lodge is the perfect place to stay. We brought our dogs, lit fires in the wood burning stove, had cocktails on the deck & walked to the top of the road for a beautiful view of the Rockies! My kids were able to skateboard right in front of the house & hangout in the loft and play. My oldest boy filled the fridge downstairs & tuned out for awhile everyday - he loved it! We always stay at VRBO's when we travel & Christie made this the most personable & genuine experience thus far! See you in the spring! Thanks!

I'm a little late getting this review in, but we had such a great time at the cabin and stumbled across the owner's personal thank you card that we received after the stay so I felt compelled to let others know how much fun we had. We were looking to get out of the city for a few days with two other couples and really wanted to avoid the crowds at all the ski resorts. We found this place and it was perfect for what we were looking for. We did a little skiing and snowshoeing and really just loved being up in beautiful Estes Park without the crowds. Anyhow, if you are looking for a great mountain getaway and looking to avoid the crowds, I would highly recommend staying here during the winter!

We were supposed to stay at Ridgeview for a repeat visit but weren't able to come because of the flooding. Christie was great - she was responsive, flexible, and accommodating. The house is a cozy, relaxing place to stay and we can't wait to come again, but it's made that much better by the level of concern and service you receive from the owner.

My family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The description of this cabin was accurate and our family of eight were comfortable and happy with our adventure. It is a bit of a steep walk to town but nothing we couldn't accomplish with a stroller and 4 and 7 year olds in tow. The cabin is well equipped and a bit rustic with toys and games for the kids and a wonderful toy filled loft that they loved. It is hard to find this kind of rental that will accept our well behaved but largish dogs. On our last afternoon we heard elk in the yard and looked out to see two bulls and a heard of cows wandering through the neighborhood. It was a very special stay and something we would certainly recommend to friends.

Our family of six has been to Estes Park several times, but this is one of the best homes we have ever stayed in. Christie is a fabulous host ~ wonderful to work with! The home is beautiful and close enough to town to walk, but yet we were still nestled among pine trees and had gorgeous views of the mountains. The home was delightful! All our kids enjoyed their rooms, and we adults did as well. They were decorated perfectly to fit the theme of being in the mountains. The beds were extremely comfortable ~ we all slept like babies! As a family, we enjoyed watching movies, grilling on the deck, shopping in the town, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park and just enjoying the beautiful area and the home we were in. We will definitely be back! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Ridgeview Lodge was the perfect place to spend time with our young grandchildren (ages 7, 4 and 3) -- a beautiful setting only a short drive to the RMNP Beaver Meadows entrance, but within walking distance of downtown with its shops, food, and the "kid fun" areas. This was our SECOND stay at Ridgeview! We had equally as much fun both times, enjoying hikes, picnics, horseback riding, ranger programs, but this time our grandchildren wanted to spend more time just hanging out at the cabin. With its loft, the games, books, the rocky area to explore below the deck, it was a kid paradise. We had breakfast each morning on the deck, enjoying the beautiful view and the perfect temperatures of an Estes summer morning. The open feel of the kitchen/great room/deck lent itself well to spending time together, but everyone had their own "space" with the nicely appointed bedrooms and the separate downstairs suite. The family dog even came for a day, and he was in heaven just lying in the sun on the deck. Christie is the perfect host, providing everything we needed -- and more. Thank you, Christie!!! We will be back, but I'm guessing we'll have to reserve early once folks get wind of this great rental.

About the owner: My name is Christie and I make it my goal to make your stay as comfortable as possible because it brings me joy for others to have a great time here!

Why the Owner Chose Estes Park:
Estes Park and my family have a long history together - both my parents grew up taking family vacations here. I fell in love with it as a teenager and have been a frequent visitor since moving to Colorado in 2005. This town has a hold on my heart and I want other people to experience it and fall in love with it too!

The Unique Benefits at this House:
What I love about this home is the fact you are nestled in the mountains, able to relax and enjoy the quietness, the trees and the amazing views... yet it's only a 5 min walk into town to enjoy everything Estes Park has to offer. It's also only a 5 min drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. This home is comfortable, cozy and enjoyable.
