On a private half-acre backing onto a nature trail, our spacious remodeled retreat is a short walk to Asilomar beach, the most beautiful beach on the Monterey Peninsula. The great room has soaring ceilings, a spacious dining area, a kitchen bar and couches looking on to the gardens. The cozy living room has a wood-burning fireplace and couch with a fold out bed. The four bedrooms all have French doors opening onto the grounds. This retreat also has a game room, with an air hockey table, a computer, and a library about area attractions. This home’s lounging spaces and chef’s kitchen will tempt you to hibernate. Yet we also provide a 30-page guide with our insights about the best walks, the best local restaurants, and fun things to do when you venture out.
Walk a few blocks from the retreat to the Asilomar State Park and beach entrance. From there, you may stroll the beach and miles of coastal paths. We are walking distance to the beginning of 17-mile drive, one of the most scenic drives in the world and to the Monarch Sanctuary, where thousands of monarch butterflies winter after their migration from Canada. Downtown Pacific Grove, with its quaint shops and excellent restaurants, is a 6-minute car ride away. Downtown Monterey is 11-minutes away while the Monterey Aquarium is just 8 minutes away. Nearby Lovers Point offers a protected sandy beach, great for kids, swimming, and snorkeling. And downtown Carmel is a 15 minute drive.
Our home is private, light, and lovingly cared for. It is a perfect place for you to relax, reconnect with family and friends, and explore the Monterey Peninsula.

Four families with young children stayed at this house in March and we had a fabulous time! The open floor plan makes for a bright and cozy central living space where we all gathered for meals and hang out time. The kids were able to run around the house and explore the expansive yard filled with pine trees, pine cones and other treasures. At night, the parents sat around the couch and played cards with the children within easy earshot. This owner has thoughtfully provided four passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium - which is great fun for both kids and adults! My daughter asks me, "When can we go to that house in Monterey again?" She has formed memories that make her smile! We not only enjoyed the house and the Aquarium, but took several walks down to the beach - about a 10 minute walk from the house - and to the nearby park. On one morning, I went for a long jog by the ocean - starting with passing through Asilomar to the beach. What a refreshing jog! The owner is easy to contact, flexible, and friendly! Enjoy a magical time at this clean, spacious and bright house :O).Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This home has the perfect location to walk everywhere in P.G. We have stayed here every January for several years. It is perfect for families. We brought our new puppy with us. The fenced in yard was great for her. The house floor plan is a great setup when entertaining guests. The kitchen has everything you would need to prepare meals. Loved the Wolf gas stove. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace. The owner is a pleasure to work with and is available for questions or any issues that may occur during your stay. We will continue to stay here when in the area. It is always clean and well maintained.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This house was perfect for our family which included 7 adults and 2 young children. The layout was great to gather as a family while offering places for quiet or privacy. The kitchen is well equipped and the information provided on the area was very helpful. We had an amazing time and spent our last night talking about returning next year!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I would highly recommend this place. It had everything we needed. The common area with such a large kitchen and living room was all open so one could watch kids while cooking very easily. The kids loved the yard - they explored and made pretend places. We barbequed one night and the kitchen was fully equipped. The rooms and beds were quite comfortable. The air hockey table was a big hit! There were maps and tourist brochures provided, plus passes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It was all perfect, a short drive to the aquarium. The area is very peaceful near Asilomar. It is a short walk to the beach. A very special place. We had 4 couples, each with a child, and we all slept comfortably. It is a spacious house. We had a wonderful time together. Will definitely return.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We all had so much fun! We loved the beach and walking the coastal trails. The aquarium was great – thanks for the passes. And what a wonderful retreat home - after the hustle and bustle of the city, your home provided a much needed oasis. Loved using the spacious cooking area to grill fresh fish from the pier!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

We loved it here! The aqaurim was amazing! The Taste (across from Trader Joes) is a resterant you should recomend. Its really fun to have house dinners and deserts like Spaghetti Night and B-Day Cake Night. I beat quite a few people in air hockey. We went to the Pebble Beach Car Show and saw a lot of dogs and cars. We had a lot of fun playing on the rocks at Point Lobos. We loved it here! A wonderful family reuion in this house in Pacici Grove! What made it even more amazing is this house had belonged to my grand parents in the 1940's until the late 1960's. And I didn't know it until I found out what street it was on, and my sister recognized the fireplace in the photo. Wow! We arrived with my parents, both in their late 80's(it had been my father's parents home)We spent a wonderful week there with my parents and my two sister's.The house looked much different but it was great. The sun was shining every morning. We ate our meals out on the nice back patio. It had all the amenities and more. A nice walk to Asilomar and Pico beach( our favorite as kids) The property was clean and inviting, relaxed and comfortable. It is a memory we will treasure always! We look forward to our next visit! Also, the owner was a delight! thank you thank you!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful weekend at the Asilomar Ocean Retreat. The house is cute, comfortable and clean with a charming light-filled kitchen/great room. Bedrooms are on two sides of the house, so the floorplan is perfect for two families. The cozy family room with TV and rhe game room made it ideal for kids, but it would also be a great place for a girls-weekend etc. The ocean is in walking distance and downtown is a quick drive. I highly recommend this house!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We spent nearly a week at this wonderful spot and we all agree that we're more at home here than the week we spent in LaJolla, the week in Laguna, and the week on Hawaii. The house is relaxed, convenient, thoroughly appointed, yet laid back and private. All the furniture is beachworthy, not frou-frou. Absolutely no worries. Our dog was welcomed here too, and that made our time a true family experience. Monterey and Carmel are places you'll want to spend a week every year. We used the aquarium passes three times! We'll be back. This owner is perhaps the most easygoing we've encountered. In all ways, all stars! Asilomar truly is a refuge.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
