Frenchman's Bay cottage description
”Grace on the Hill.” The name says it all - a dose of simple elegance in one of St. Thomas’ nicest communities. The cottage offers a cozy, cabin experience in the midst of natural tropical beauty. It is the perfect fit for travelers looking for an up-close-and personal experience in the USVI - without the added expense of hotels or resorts.
Grace on the Hill is off the beaten path, but close to everything. It’s just a short car ride from Havensight (where the cruise ships dock), Charlotte Amalie (shopping, clothing, jewelry and restaurants), and Red Hook (nightlife, restaurants and ferries to St. John and the British Virgin Islands). It’s just 15 minutes from the airport and the University of the Virgin Islands.
This cabin is reminiscent of a quaint wooden cabin. Nature lovers will especially appreciate it’s clean, rustic features. There’s a unique double-view that gives visitors the chance to look out onto the Caribbean Sea from the front and lush green valley in the back. It is private, sitting on top of a hill, yet easily accessible to the main road. Off-street, secure parking is also a nice plus.
The bedroom provides a wonderful opportunity to stargaze with your honey or meditate under the heavenly stars. The layout lends itself to easy conversation with your mate, or quiet solitude. Should you desire to take a break from dining out, the kitchen is supplied with what you need to make your favorite dish. There are towels and chairs for the beach, complimentary internet connection, cable and a land line for your local calls. In addition, there is plenty of space for whatever equipment - scuba gear, pool toys, etc. - you may need to stash.
Come be our guest and experience the favor of 'Grace.'

A Perfectly Graceful Vacation
A Perfectly Graceful Vacation
This vacation was PERFECTLY GRACEFUL!! The Grace on the Hill cottage is located at the top of a hill so the views are absolutely AMAZING!! You can see the British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico outside the window. The full kitchen makes it great for a family to stay inside and open up the windows and have a cook out after a long day on the beach. If you don't have a car, it's ok, because you are in walking distance from the beach with several restaurants and bars. A cab can also come and pick you up and take you to and from the airport for a reasonable price and they know exactly where the house is located because it is close by many resorts and landmarks. The shopping district is only 5 minutes away which was perfect for us to get some local handmade presents to take home from our trip . The Fine Dining Restaurants are only 5-10minutes away from the cottage so we were able to get dressed up for a night on the town. We had free internet access so we were able to still do some work for our Job. There was also a perfect sized flat screen tv and DVD player so I could see the movies that I brought with me. It was just a magical vacation because of our location. Location is everything because it made it easier to relax on the beach, see the tourists attractions and to go out to the restaurants. I loved it and will definitely be BACK!!

We found the property to be better than expected. The views of the mountainside and the ocean are breathtaking! The house was clean and spacious for its size. The convenience of private parking within view of the house was nice. The many picture windows made a panoramic view and allowed for a nice breeze through the house in the afternoon. The view of the cruise ships coasting in and out of Charlotte Amalie was a nice surprise. The convenience of the location with the comfort of privacy made our stay all the more enjoyable. We would absolutely recommend Grace on the Hill for a private get away vacation rental.

Owner response: Thank you Jon and Jan! I love it when our guests get this place. If you love nature, character, convenient, and clean, then Grace is the place for you. I also got the nice note that you left. Be blessed and hope you come again or send your friends.
Great place to get away from all the hustle and bustle and just relax. Perched high on a hill in a quiet residential neighborhood, we felt like we lived in St Thomas while we visited. Cool breezes, song birds and lovely views from every side made our "home time" delightful. Close proximity to Red Hook was great since we took the ferry to St John and BVI on several occasions. Equally close to Charlotte Amalie for shopping, eating out or site seeing. This rustic little cottage is a very interesting and unique design and just right if you want to get away from it all.

Owner response: Thanks Jere and Jane! It was a pleasure to have you and I am glad to got to notice the birds. Those wild parrots are always coupled and have been around for quite some time. They are so beautiful! That your "home time" was "delightful" is exactly the feeling I would hope guest would experience in this rustic and uniquely designed cottage. It has always been a conversation piece when people visited us. Hope the snow back home is kind to you this year. If it gets to be too much, you are always welcomed back.
My wife and I have vacationed on St.Thomas many times, staying in resorts and hotels. We are thrilled to have found Grace on the Hill. The care and attention Ms. Loretta poured into redecorating and upgrading the cottage was obvious right away. It's a clean, cozy "island" cottage with the amenities (like internet) that helped made us feel right at home, right away. You need a car to get around but the location is great. We could zip down the hill the Limetree Beach in the mornings, and drive 15 minutes into Charlotte Amalie for shopping or to eat out. It took about 15 minutes to get to Red Hook for the ferry to St. John and the British Virgin Islands. The cottage was clean and obviously well-maintained. The sunset views are just magical. We would back here again anytime -- and are comfortable recommending "Grace" to others.

This cottage is extremely unique and private. It sits atop a hill, selling a magical view of the Caribbean Sea. On a clear day you can see all the way to Puerto Rico! There are three resorts within a short drive. The main shopping district is quite accessible too. Hotels are nice, but sometimes you want a little more independence to really experience island life!

Year Purchased: 1998
About the owner: The owner is a former Federal Court Executive who recently retired. Having a desire to do more global travel, this property was redecorated so others could enjoy. This place still remains one of the owner's favorite places.
Why the Owner Chose Frenchman's Bay:
Originally, this was property was used as a long-term rental. The occupants loved their stay and the last long-term tenant rented for 6 years moving out only when they were forced to leave the island for health reasons.. So the owner redorated it and decided to reopen it as a short-term rental which was its original purpose for many others to enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The solitude and sense of peace about being in the cottage. It is your own private retreat. When you need more energy, and want to explore the many adventures on island, it's just a short hop away. Wild parrots nest in a neighboring tree. And it's a beautiful view watching the cruise ships come and go.
