Group of 7 college friends who graduated 20-some years ago and who get together somewhere every year to reconnect and get a break from our real lives filled with work and families and kids. The Lake Emily cabin was great--easy to find, nice setting, plenty of sleeping space and room for us to lounge and relax. We often pick our vrbo houses based on the kitchen, and this one had a great island and was perfect for sitting around while we ate and drank and reminisced. Lovely wrap-around deck and the reclining chair and couch in the living room were awesome!! Would definitely like to come back here in the summer when trees are leafed out and there's more going on...but we enjoyed our weekend immensely and it was exactly what our group needed! Note: Some other reviews we read beforehand described the kitchen as "very well stocked," but this is an exaggeration. I would encourage visitors to bring assorted spices if you're cooking (there's salt and pepper and some instant coffee, not much else) and any cooking pans you need for large groups (specifically a large skillet--we made do with a couple small ones). Thanks to Al and Kerrie...great lake house, very comfortable, and a fantastic deal!

Great Snowmobile get away

We rented the cabin for a guys weekend, and could not believe how large and CLEAN the house was. It was perfect. We were able to cook big meals with the large open kitchen, but at the same time go into town to eat as well becuase it was only a few miles away. Great location. It has beautiful lake views that made the stay feel like you were all by yourself. We had a blast snowmobiling around the area. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing get away. FIVE STARS and see you next year!

My family and I rented the cabin, and it was amazing. We had ten poeple and it had more than enought room for us and was very clean and homely. We felt like we were able to get away from the hustle and bustle of day to day life. The views are amazing, the lake and sunlight that come through the wall of windows is breath takeing. The large kitchen made it sooo easy to make large meals and I would recommend this property to everyone. We cannot wait to come back next year, because we are going to bring the snowmobiles. It is a perfect place to be outside and ride. Thank you for the great experience.

Perfect for bridal shower & girls night

I'm so glad I found this location to host a bridal shower and bachelorette/girls night. It was perfect!! It was meticulously clean and very warm & inviting. We received rave reviews from our guests. People loved the full windows & the view. And in the evening, with all the accent lighting, it's absolutely gorgeous inside! We enjoyed ourselves so much that us 5 girls plan on making it an annual weekend retreat.

Relaxing, comfortable, quality vacation home

We stayed there over MEA weekend (a long weekend for school aged kids in MN). My family, mother, 2 sisters and their husband and kids stayed for 3 nights. It was very comfortable. We spend some of our time exploring the area and some of our time at the cabin. The furnishings are top notch. There aren't any "garage sale finds" in this house. The beds are comfortable too. The view from the windows are awesome. Although it wasn't the time of year to enjoy the lake, it sure was nice to see it. We would recommend this property and will certainly come back.

Harvest Time in the Valley

The Pictures were accurate, but much better to see the place in person. The property was clean, organized, everything in working condition, and had the amenities listed. There were enough beds and bathrooms to accomendate 8 women on their weekend outing. The kitchen table was large enough for table games. The kitchen counter was huge and many gals were able to stand around and create different parts of the meal. We had fun driving to Montgomery Apple Orchard to run around in a corn maze and then a craft show. The owner, Al, was prompt in meeting with us and gave a tour of the home and answered any questions. I would recommend this home. Many of us thought it would be great to own it.

Lake Emily Cabin

Everything was in working condition., very clean, comfortable, and gorgious views of the woods and plenty of privacy. Large kitchen and table to accomendate 8 people playing games at the table. More than enough beds and privacy to sleep 8 women. Thick bathroom towels and matching plates and table ware and glasses. I felt at home. We had fun going to the corn maze in Montgomery Apple Orchard. The owner Al was easy to get a hold of and accountable. He gave a tour of the house and how to take care ot it. The photos of the property were accurate but it's much better in person. I would recommend this property. Large menu selecton at Whiskey River Restaurant and Patricks Pub. We even had good food at the deli at the Local Co-op.

Perfect! This place is perfect. Wish I could call it home every day. The whole family enjoyed and couldn't stop praising the accomodations. The property, lake, boats, lawn games and, of course, fire pit each night made for a great get-together with family and friends. Slept 12 comfortably! Kitchen well supplied. I couldn't ask for more. Besides my immediate family, I think some of the extended family are planning return trips to this beautiful lake home. Thanks, Al and Kerrie, for providing everything we needed, wanted, and more!!!

Our family range is age 1 1/2 to 62, and it was perfect for everyone! Al was there to greet us Friday afternoon, and he gave us a tour of their beautiful "cabin". Wow - I can't think of anything more that we needed! Fully equipped kitchen, plenty of towels & bedding, deck with patio furniture, our own private dock & paddleboat, a campfire ring with wood & lawn chairs, games, tv & music,- we felt like we were visiting someone's HOME! It's beautifuly decorated & the view to the lake is a bonus. The boys went golfing & the girls enjoyed the pool at Shorewood - everyone was happy - especially with the $20 golf fee that Al has arranged for his guests! We went fishing several times & brought home enough Crappies for a cookout. Al suggested we visit Walt's Bait Shop to get our fishing licences, and we had a great time visiting with Walt! Thank you, Al & Kerrie - this was the first time we tried taking a family vacation under one roof, and it was such a success that I know we'll be back. Your gracious hospitality was greatly appreciated!!! Uh oh - maybe I shouldn't tell everyone how great your Lake Emily Cabin really is - you'll be so booked up I might have trouble making our next reservation!!!

A Great Week

Thanks for a wonderful week at your cabin. We had our 3 children, their spouses, and our two grandchildren with us and everyone enjoyed the beautiful accommodations. The cabin was large enough for all of us and we loved having air conditioning and a dishwasher at the lake! We all took advantage of Al having arranged the use of the swimming pool at the country club located very near to the cabin. During our week we walked the trails through the woods and saw deer, wild turkeys, an eagle, rabbits, raccoons, and chipmunks, to the delight of our grandchildren. We would definitely come back again to this location.

Great, Relaxing Stay--Highly Recommended

My wife, 2 year old son and I stayed at the A-Frame cabin for two nights. Communication before the stay was amazing, and Al was there to greet us when we arrived. After a brief tour, we settled in and really had a good time. The cabin itself was spotless and had everything we needed to cook, including charcoal for the grill. The bed was great, we all slept like babies. It was nice to have DirecTV to watch the Twins in HD with a cold Grain Belt to wind down in the evening. We didn't have one minor quibble about any of the amenities, accommodation, or cleanliness. All was perfect. I played golf at the course next door and really enjoyed it, thanks to Al it was a bargain. Great deal for the $20 rate, it was a nice small town course. St Peter has plenty of places to eat and shop and is just generally a pretty well-kept town that is a 3 minute drive away. We got some steaks and brats at the grocery store and got some thin-crust pizza from the local place, Jake's, right at the main intersection. Mankato is 10-15 minutes away with a few more things to offer as well. Very convenient. All in all, it was a great time and just what we needed after a few days in the cities. A great, practical departure for those of us who may not have all the time to get all the way up North. It's a very picturesque area that is a manageable day drive from Eastern Nebraska. Thanks again for making this an enjoyable stay. We are already talking about bringing some friends with us next year!

10 guys+a cabin+a pontoon= a great weekend had by all. Great fishing, enjoyed the use of the pontoon. Plenty of room for all of us guys. Very clean accommodations, very comfortable beds. Relaxing campfires. A very enjoyable stay, will book again. Highly recommended.

I had been looking for a nice place for my family, my parents, and my sister's family to all have a nice, relaxing weekend together. It certainly exceeded all of my expectations. The property itself is very nice. It appears to be a new construction, or at least very well maintained. The cabin is spacious, well furnished, and very clean. The owners provide much of what you could need for the weekend. We grilled, cooked on the fire pit, and used the kitchen; it was like being at home! There were games, both indoor and out, and then, of course, there was the lake! The lake was the highlight for our family. My older son is obsessed with fishing, and he was not disappointed! The fish were practically jumping onto the dock. My 6 year old and 3 year old both caught multiple fish, as did my 5 year old nephew (all just with cane poles and short lines by the dock)... and my niece? She caught a turtle! My parents and husband were pleased with the bigger fish that were biting too! They caught carp, catfish, and myriad other fish. Their only regret is that they didn't bring more heavy duty fishing gear...they were expecting only small pan fish, so the big fish were hard to reel in. For those that don't fish, there was a nice paddle boat to explore the lake. We saw muskrat, turtles, heron, fish jumping out of the water, and even a whole troupe of goslings (I counted 20!). We did not explore the surrounding area too much -- it was hard to pull everyone away from the lake -- but we did do some hiking in Minneopa State Park, which has a very nice waterfall and hiking for those with decent mobility. The waterfall is handicap accessible. The owners were very nice. They made renting the property effortless, they were very accommodating, and made sure that we knew how to contact them if we had any problems or requests. Of course, their excellent accommodations meant that we didn't have problems, nor did we want for anything. I would definitely recommend staying at this cabin. My 3 year old thanked me again tonight for taking him to the cabin, and my 6 year old wants to know when we can go back!

Delightful Weekend Experience!

Our group of 5 sisters were looking for a place to stay near New Ulm, Minnesota for our annual weekend reunion - and after much searching, we found the perfect location! Al was absolutely terrific to work with - answered my many questions via email and phone quickly and thoroughly, provided recommendations for local restaurants (we ate at Whiskey River twice - we loved watching the birds!), made sure we had everything we needed for check-in, and even gave us the flexibility to extend our check-out time so we could enjoy the lake after a couple of rainy days on our weekend. He arranged for someone to meet us at the house, as he had a scheduling conflict, and we got a very warm welcome, complete tour, of the cabin, and more suggestions for things to see and do in the area. You couldn't ask for a better host to work with! The cabin is amazing ... one of my favorite places in the 10 years we have been meeting for our sisters weekends. The photos, description and floor plan for the cabin were all very accurate - so we knew it would be a beautiful setting. But the view of the lake from the loft, and the experience of sitting in the main floor living room overlooking the lake, were even better than I imagined! The cabin was very clean and well-maintained, beautifully decorated and arranged, and the beds were extremely comfortable. We all felt immediately at home when we arrived, and looked forward to returning to our cozy setting after our sight-seeing in New Ulm each day. We had great fun visiting the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, Brown County Historical Society Museum, August Schell Brewing Company, and the Glockenspiel in New Ulm - and enjoyed fondue at Artisans at the Grand Bistro and live music at the Grand Kabaret. I enthusiastically recommend this property ...

Great Golf getaway!

Our group from Dassel, Marshall & Green Bay had an absolutely fabulous time at this property! We golfed 3 days at Shoreland CC just 1-2 minutes away. The rates you worked out $20 for 18 holes including cart when staying at your rental, is unbelievable. The house is everything we wanted - very clean, open kitchen/great room, a large deck. The view is fantastic and the lot is very private with a huge lawn perfect for games, kids, etc. Al was great to work with and made the whole experience even better. It is very evident he aims to please his guests. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended!

Wonderful Getaway!

My wife and I were looking for a quiet getaway and Lake Emily Cabin was perfect for us. We were greeted by the owners, who gave us an informative tour of the cabin and then left us to our weekend. We arrived in the dark and woke up the next morning to a beautiful sunrise and view of the lake. We enjoyed the proximity to St. Peter, for restaurants and shops, but also loved the well equipped kitchen for making our own romantic dinner. The cabin is kept exceptionally clean and the owners go above and beyond to make sure their guests have everything they need to enjoy their stay. We are already talking to friends and family about getting a group together and staying at Lake Emily cabin this summer. Thank you Al and Kerri!

A group of us wanted to spend time in Southern Minnesota near the St. Peter / Mankato area and we found the perfect setup in the Lake Emily Cabin. From the warm welcome we got from the owner Al to the superb condition and cleanliness of the cabin, from the great view to the ease of getting into town it far eceeded our expectations and I would recommend to anyone. Very comfortable sleeping conditions. The description and the website were very accurate. Very Nice.

Our extended family stayed here over Thanksgiving 2011. This beautiful home is essentially on its own lake. Words that come to mind ~ calm, peaceful, serene, tranquil, placid, private, relaxing. In addition, the home itself and its furnishings are very welcoming and modern... including electrically controlled recliner chairs! It comfortably slept 8 adults. There are also trails on the property that take you part way around the lake. All this only two miles from the city - but you'd never know it. One thing missing was an MP3 music player to sync to your iPod or iPhone but there is a CD / Radio player - just no MP3 hookup. We hope to stay here again next year!

We had family members here for a 2 dayThanksgiving get together. This was the perfect spot - a very private, beautiful lake. It was close to town, but seemed remote. Everything was provided in the lovely, very clean house. We didn't think to bring fishing rods--drat! Andy was especially welcoming! We would rent here any time!

When i showed up it was more than i had expected. The fully furnished lake cabin was beautiful and very clean, the photos could not compare. It has a view of the lake that was perfect when the sun was setting. We had 10 people and had more than enough room to cook and sleep. My phone call was returned right away and they where very helpful when booking. I would recommend this cabin to anyone, I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK!
