This is a little piece of heavan for our family. It is close to our home in Colorado Springs and a great getaway spot. We relax and just unplug here. It is also close to all the major Ski resorts, just over an hour to Breckenridge. Vail is just a little more than an hour and half away. Just 25 minutes from Woodland Park and all the amenities you would need. Colorado Springs is a quick 45-50 minute trip down the hill.
This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle yet close to all the winter sports resorts at a fraction of the cost.
The views of the mountains and Colorado landscape make it feel as if you are away from everything, yet you are really able to access food, shopping sports and anything else you might want or need in less than an hour on all sides.
This is an owner run and loved property.
There is a Master bedroo with a king size bed in the loft bedroom with a full bathroom, sweeping views and large closets.
The mainfloor has a wrap around deck for full views and fresh air. there is a bedroom with a queen size bed. There is another full bathroom on this level as well as the laundry room. The open concept of the kitchen, dining and living room all make this the hub of the home. The gas log fireplace adds a nice touch. There is satellite TV, and a stereo/DVD system as well.
On the lowerlevel it is a walkout level with beautiful french doors and lots of light. There are two bedrooms and another full bathroom. One room has a queen bed, the other has a full size bed and a twin. There are also pull out couches in the living room down stairs.
All the linens are provided and there are TVs, DVD players, VCR player and stereos on all three floors. there are some movies and games for children to enjoy as well.
The house is seated on 5 acres and is very private, plenty of room to roam and hike right outside the door. Located at the base of Crystal Peak, being in the National Forest there is plenty to keep you occupied. There is a small charcoal grill and a fire pit, but fire laws must be followed, so open fires must be okay by the Forest service depending on the Fire dangers and dryness.
There is no Wi-Fi, however if you have a USB (we use one up there,) AT&T is the only service that will pick up internet connection. However, most cell phone services work just fine up there. Depending on where you are on the roads and trails, the mountains can make lapses in cell phone service.

This property was great for our family get away for Christmas. Lots of room to spread out but also great common spaces for game playing and movie watching. The house was very homey and the owners left some hot chocolate and a Christmas tree to welcome us. Outside the house there were areas for the kids to sled and go for hikes. We also were visited by a herd of deer on two of the mornings of our stay. I am looking forward to returning to this property in the future. Only small draw back is the lack of shades on the windows, but because it was winter it wasn't a major issue.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My husband I I just styed here for 2 nights. It was so quiet and peaceful and the house was so welcoming and warm. There were lights on when we arrived. We arrived after dark so we did have a hard time seeing the house number from the road. But we found it quickly and began to relax as soon as we walked through the door. The master bedroom was wonderful and full of light. If you have a hard time sleeping without shades, I would recommend bringing eye covers....but we loved waking up with the sun each day and enjoying the peaceful setting that surrounded the property. The house was huge and could have accomodated an entire family. Overall, we had an azming stay and look forward to coming back next year or maybe even earlier.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I just finished my stay in this beautiful home with my 5 year old daughter, 19 year old daughter, and her 17 year old "bff" We were delighted with the house. The teens particularly enjoyed the master suite in the loft area and spotted a baby elk from their window as soon as we arrived. My 5 year old daughter and I stayed on the basement floor which was furnished with movies, games, sofas, recliners, a puzzle or game table, and two nicely furnished bedrooms with comfy beds. We cooked and dined and enjoyed the wraparound deck on the middle floor. Lisa was kind enough to provide many nice touches, such as fresh bread and milk to help get us started, a jar of candy on the counter that the kids couldn't stay out of, plenty of games, books, and movies, to name a few. The most difficult part of our stay was making ourselves leave the cabin every day for activities. We would definitely like to come back and bring more family members with us. We will highly recommend this rental to our friends and family. Very nice house & furnishings; the only drawbacks were: cooking pans sub par and charcoal grill was a disappointment. We will look forward to coming back - but will bring our portable grill & frying pans.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful home with us. We could not have been more satisfied with this choice. We were a little skeptical to begin with about the house not having air conditioning but this was not a problem. It was so nice to open the windows and enjoy the fresh mountain air, the furnace even kicked on one morning. We would recommend this property to anyone (and already have on the plane ride home).Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: We built this home 3 years ago as an investment, but ended up loving it and keeping it for our family. We have four children with busy schedules so it is a wonderful escape for us. We love to travel and have used VRBO many times so it made perfect sense to share our space on VRBO as well.
