Miminegash cottage description
Sea Watch Cottage, situated at the end of a 1 kilometer private road, is located on a large 2.5 acre property affording spectacular views of the ocean, fishing boats and stunning sunsets. The fishing village of Miminegash is seen from the front deck and yard, which also affords a view of the 'pond' a large body of water extending from the Miminegash harbor. A staircase over the cape leads to the wide red sandy beach and the ocean with the warmest temperatures north of the Carolinas, ideal for swimming and playing in the water. The beach extends for many K. in both directions. The fire pit is situated near the top of the cape so none of the beauty is ever lost during your stay. Walking south one can see the many windmills of West Cape and following the beach to the north brings you to the village of Miminegash, the fishing harbor with boats and a fresh daily supply of seasonal catch such as lobster. Our cottage is very clean and bright. It has 2 bedrooms one with a full master bath and King size bed and the other right next to the 2nd full bathroom having 2 single beds which can be converted into a King bed. A sofa-bed in the living room allows space for 2 extra people.

- Seawatch Cottage is located at the end of a little travelled cul de sac. It is private and quiet. The beach is easily reached at the edge of the grassy yard and down a staircase. One can play on the beach, find sea glass, walk for miles and even in about 20 minutes to the small fishing village of Miminegash. Here you can watch the fishing boats come and go and buy fresh seafood from the fishermen when in season. Our caretakers are fishermen and sometimes will bring fresh lobster or scallops right to the door at a great price. They are also a great source of information and always ready to help if there is a need. It is an easy drive to the 3 small villages in the area, the Potato Museum, 2 lighthouses and their wonderful dinning facilities. The cottage has a good supply of brochures to aide you in finding things to see and do....moreless

Splendid Summer Holiday Home
Splendid Summer Holiday Home
My husband and I were looking forward to spending time with our two boys exploring PEI. We have rented from VRBO on previous occasions and have always had a good experience. Our time at your cottage was no exception! We were so impressed with the accommodations, location and friendliness of the Brian and Barb the cottage caretakers. If you are looking for the perfect spot for a family holiday then this is the cottage for you! We spent our days walking the beautiful oceanfront, building sandcastles, collecting rocks and splashing in the waves. The boys were content to play for hours on the beach and that left a lot of time for us to catch up on our reading. When they weren't playing at the beach they were playing on the play structure. We toured the surrounding areas and enjoyed the local restaurants. The scallops that Brian dropped off at the cottage were perfect with a bottle of wine and a view of the sunset. We loved the wool blankest at the cottage so we visited the MacAusland Mill and bought some to take home with us a souvenir of our time in PEI. When I described the cottage to my family and friends I said is was like just like being at home but with better views! The only thing missing was a clothesline to hang up towels and suits after a day at the beach. Do not hesitate to rent this cottage, I promise you won't be disappointed!

Owner response: Thank you for the lovely review of Seawatch Cottage. It truly is a wonderful holiday location for children, beach play, walks and just sitting and reading in absolutely beautiful surroundings. We are always happy to have our renters tell us that they have had a perfect holiday as that means we have provided well and not disappointed our guests. Thank you for the washline suggestion - we will have to get one. We hope to see you again in another holiday season.
Wonderful place to relax
Wonderful place to relax
The property was incredible. Even though the pictures and description were attractive, the reality was even better,. We loved the beautiful and comfortable furnishings and amenities. We loved the water views from virtually every window, the screened in porch which was ideal for morning tea or and afternoon libation. Although we lucked into a week of perfect weather, it was a little cool and we really enjoyed the fireplace which looked pretty but also gave us just enough heat. We don't have a single thing to complain or feel negative about and we are definitely going to try to visit again. Since our primary reason for visiting was to relax, we didn't stray very far other than a round of golf in St. Felix which was a beautiful course. We also enjoyed the scallops supplied by Brian and Barb.

Owner response: Thank you for taking time to write this wonderful review of Seawatch Cottage. We are happy that having come with great expectations from the photos and description on the website, you were still pleasantly surprised to find the cottage even better than we told you it would be and that you found it a place to get the relaxation that you were looking for. We certainly do welcome you back again in the future.
Seawatch cottage was a great home base for our day trips. The cottage was nicely decorated. The owners have obviously thought about their guests' comfort - there were plenty of towels, sunscreen, toys and games for any children, plenty of videos. The kitchen was well equipped, with quite decent cookware and cookware tools. If you have ever stayed at a vacation rental and were frustrated at the lack of kitchen equipment (such as a cork screw, can opener, paring knives, pot holders), rest assured you won't have that issue at Seawatch cottage. Our meals were simple, since we were on vacation, but I always had the tools I needed to make a meal. The cottage was clean and well maintained, nice ocean and pond views. Awesome sunsets. The managers, Irene and Gene were very helpful and friendly. We did not take advantage of the offer to buy fish from the caretakers, but that was only because we never knew what time we were arriving home from our day trips. If we had stayed at Seawatch during the summer, I think we would have asked the caretakers for fish daily. The beach is long and beautiful, kayaking (Malpeq Bay, put in at Mulligan) and bicycling not too far away. The outside play structure for the children is easily seen from inside the cottage, a plus for young families. The cottage is secluded, relaxing and private. One of the best cottages we've ever stayed at. We would love to return!

Rejuvenation to the soul
We had a wonderful time at your beautiful cottage! Thank you for opening up your lovely place and for making us feel right at home. The sunsets, walks along the red-sand beach and visits to the North Cape were definitely highlights.PEI certainly gives a rejuvenation to the soul. Can't wait to visit again.

Love PEI and Cottage is fantastic
The views are amazing and the sunsets spectacular. Even better than Key West FL. We enjoyed walking the beach and learning about sea glass. We collected a few. Most of all, the people of PEI made us feel so welcome everywhere we went. Thank you for a great experience

Great place to stay except for the insects
Great place to stay except for the insects
My family of 5 recently stayed at Seawatch cottage and enjoyed our time in lovely PEI. The province is quaint, the people very nice, the scenery lovely and the red sandy beaches and sunsets simply breathtaking. The cottage is nestled in a cul de sac with the ocean and beach on one side and a still pond on the other. The ocean provided a beautiful view of the sunset while the still water of the pond gave us a daily battle with swarms of aggressive Mosquitos that defied the owners' valiant effort of dual propane traps, deet repellents and afterbite ointment (all generously supplied). We learned to spray a path to our SUV or on the trail to the beach with OFF outdoor fogger in order to avoid the imminent attack. We never had a chance to use the play structure, the picnic table or the BBQ due to bugs, a shame as it would have been just perfect if we could. I can't fault the owners, and I recognize it might have been just a bad year for this but other families with young kids or kids with hyper reactions like ours should consider our experience as I see no mention of this in the reviews. What the bugs did though, was push us to spend either a lot of time indoors or away from the cottage altogether. We spent long hours enjoying the supplied satellite tv, DVDs, board games and books. When we were outdoors, we explored nearby sites like North Cape, Tignish deep sea fishing, Summerside and Cavendish...all within easy driving distance. We also discovered a nearby beach in Skinners Pond that was very secluded and best of all, bug free!

Owner response: Thank you for your review and positive comments on Seawatch Cottage. We are always happy to hear that the extra things we have supplied in the cottage are being used and enjoyed by our guests. Seawatch Cottage is definitely situated on one of the most picturesque properties to be found and the beach is a perfect place to play in the red sand. It is also within easy driving distance to many of the other PEI attractions that holidaying families must see when on a one week vacation. We are sorry for the discomfort your family experienced due to your sensitivity to mosquitoes. It is unfortunate that you vacationed in a week of high population. Due to the heavy rains this summer, the mosquitoes were worse than we have ever seen them before. Since my husband is also sensitive to mosquitoes, he has researched and found several other means of controlling the mosquito population. We hope these will win the battle with them if they return in such numbers again. We are happy to hear that you still have some delightful memories of your 2013 holiday at Seawatch Cottage in PEI.
This is a beautiful cottage with a great location-a pond on one side and the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the other side with easy access to the water. It was walking distance to the fishing village of Miminegash. We were able to have lobster and scallops delivered to our cottage. It was convenient driving distance to many interesting areas of Prince Edward Island. The rental process was very easy and the property manager was very helpful.

Owner response: Thank you for this good review of Seawatch Cottage. I doubt that there is a more ideal setting for a relaxing holiday. This was the first year that our caretakers have done the fresh from the boat lobster delivery along with the availability for scallops. We certainly will ask them to continue to do this in the next years.
It is paradisiac, relaxing. The quite close sea, the herons, the red sand, fisherman's village... Everything to be happy. And the house, everything is thought of it. I hope to return to it next year.

Ideal Beach Holiday
Ideal Beach Holiday
After a long long drive from Ontario, we landed at this cottage just as the sun went down. We held our breath as we drove along the coast watching the sun sink into a gorgeous sunset. We pulled up at the door and we couldn't believe our luck! We've rented properties before and knew that they aren't always completely as described. In this case, it was even better. We had a wonderful week swimming in the ocean and playing games around the house. We watched the birds flying in and out of the pond by the house. We had some lovely beach walks and the kids enjoyed swinging in the playground. The whole place was spotless and very very well set up but more than that, we felt like guests. If we had any questions, we were able to contact the owners and get answers very quickly. I would certainly recommend this property. This is a very quiet part of the province which suited us just fine.

About the owner: We are a young professional couple from Toronto with 2 young children who fell in love with PEI the first time we visited. We cherish our peaceful time at the cottage which is a haven from our hectic city life.
Why the Owner Chose Miminegash:
We love nature, cottage living, beach holidays, great food (especially lobster)! This property has ocean, beautiful sand, stunning sunsets, and lots of space with natural forest to explore. It's more than we dreamed of and is always our perfect family getaway.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
A typical day at the cottage for us starts with fresh coffee in the morning while watching the sun rise over the pond. Mornings are great for a long walk or play on the beach. In the afternoon, swimming, napping, and making sand castles, followed by a walk to the harbour to meet the fishermen arriving with fresh lobster. After cleaning up with a fresh outdoor shower, dinner is made and served at a picnic table by a campfire overlooking the cape. We wait for the final show... an incredible sunset which never disappoints. Then, a good nights sleep, and repeat the next day!
