Relaxing Secluded Cottage on Large Oceanfront Property

Sea Watch Cottage, situated at the end of a 1 kilometer private road, is located on a large 2.5 acre property affording spectacular views of the ocean, fishing boats and stunning sunsets. The fishing village of Miminegash is seen from the front deck and yard, which also affords a view of the 'pond' a large body of water extending from the Miminegash harbor. A staircase over the cape leads to the wide red sandy beach and the ocean with the warmest temperatures north of the Carolinas, ideal for swimming and playing in the water. The beach extends for many kilometers in both directions. The fire pit is situated near the top of the cape so none of the beauty is ever lost during your stay. Walking south one can see the many windmills of West Cape and following the beach to the north brings you to the village of Miminegash, the fishing harbor with boats and a fresh daily supply of seasonal catch such as lobster. The famous Seaweed Pie cafe is situated in this little village of Miminegash, a 20 minute walk from the cottage. Our cottage is very clean and bright. It has 2 bedrooms one with a full master bath and King size bed and the other right next to the 2nd full bathroom having 2 single beds which can be converted into a King bed. A sofa-bed in the living room allows space for 2 extra people.

This is a beautiful cottage with a great location-a pond on one side and the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the other side with easy access to the water. It was walking distance to the fishing village of Miminegash. We were able to have lobster and scallops delivered to our cottage. It was convenient driving distance to many interesting areas of Prince Edward Island. The rental process was very easy and the property manager was very helpful.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for this good review of Seawatch Cottage. I doubt that there is a more ideal setting for a relaxing holiday. This was the first year that our caretakers have done the fresh from the boat lobster delivery along with the availability for scallops. We certainly will ask them to continue to do this in the next years.

It is paradisiac, relaxing. The quite close sea, the herons, the red sand, fisherman's village... Everything to be happy. And the house, everything is thought of it. I hope to return to it next year.Owner response: Thank you for your lovely review. It seems you went home feeling like one should after a holiday and we are glad that Seawatch Cottage has helped you in that. We welcome you back. Repeat guests will be given a discount price. Don't wait too long to book, however, as bookings are starting to come.

After a long long drive from Ontario, we landed at this cottage just as the sun went down. We held our breath as we drove along the coast watching the sun sink into a gorgeous sunset. We pulled up at the door and we couldn't believe our luck! We've rented properties before and knew that they aren't always completely as described. In this case, it was even better. We had a wonderful week swimming in the ocean and playing games around the house. We watched the birds flying in and out of the pond by the house. We had some lovely beach walks and the kids enjoyed swinging in the playground. The whole place was spotless and very very well set up but more than that, we felt like guests. If we had any questions, we were able to contact the owners and get answers very quickly. I would certainly recommend this property. This is a very quiet part of the province which suited us just fine.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Pleasant surprises, First impressions that are fulfilled. This is what we hope to offer to our guests. We were happy that for your family this is what you found at Seawatch Cottage. Thank you for your review. We hope you will visit us again for another PEI holiday.

If you’re anything like me, short, fat, lazy and extremely fussy then this is the place for you! My wife decided that she wants to vacation in Canada this year, and yes she gets to decide sometimes, so I figured that Prince Edward Island would be the perfect place the last week of July. I’ve never rented a cottage before, I normally stay at resorts or hotels where if something goes wrong I can pick up the phone and yell at the someone who studied hotel management, so this was a difficult thing for me to find the right place and deal directly with the owners, making it a little too personal for me. Well let me tell you that the owners of this property are so amazing that I actually felt like I was staying with family even though I’ve never met or seen anyone of them. This cottage is situated at the end of a cul-de-sac, set back from the road surrounded by tall trees with the Gulf of St Lawrence on one side with a red sandy beach and pond filled with ducks, herons and birds on the other side, the perfect place if you like privacy, the only noise I heard all week came from my wife, the cottage seems to be fairly new construction and has all the amenities you’ll ever need, from a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, wine glasses, condiments, spices, dishwasher, microwave and the list just goes on, they even had very decent selection of assorted wines, all the furniture is new, it has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a king in the master bedroom and two single beds in the other, a screened porch in front, full swing set for the kids on the side, and I’m glad I left my kids at home, I went there to relax and that I did. The only reason why I figure they don’t have a five star rating is because there’s no marble jet tub or granite counter tops otherwise this place is five star service, they have an owners manual by the door that blew my mind, it has all the information you could possibly imagine, from how to open the bell express view satellite TV to when the tide comes in to where you can buy fresh fish. Overall this place was squeaky clean, all the comforts of home, so if you’re looking for the perfect place to relax and do nothing, enjoy the sunsets and a worry free stay then mention you read this so I can get a better deal next time.Owner response: Thank you for the great review. We try to do the best we can. Return customers usually get a discount.

Had a lovely time with my two daughters (ages 6 and 13) and my parents, who are in their 70s. House was immaculate, well organized and very renter-friendly. Lots of time spent exploring the beach and using the cottage as our headquarters for the several day trips we took. The only downside was that the outdoor playground hadn't been built yet, something our little one was looking forward to! I guess we'll have to come back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful review of Seawatch Cottage. We are happy that you, being a family of all ages, enjoyed the cottage, beach and area. Our aim is guest comfort and enjoyment and we are happy to hear when it has been achieved. The play set is now complete, and our apologies that it was not done when you got there - hired help works at their own time table and unfortunately, it was not ours. We do hope that you will come back and that you will enjoy the cottage even more next time with the play set in place. Thank you Come again Irene - Manager Allan & Joelene - Owners

The cottage and site were spectacular. We enjoyed a beautiful beach that felt like it was all ours to enjoy. We had driven for over 2 days to get there and had booked online so there is always a certain amount of trepidation prior to arrival. Our concerns were totally unnecessary. Once we got there we found the cottage was comfortable and had all the amenities of home , even a few items were stocked that we thought we would have to purchase. We were helped by the owners representative and any questions we had were promptly and accurately answered. We highly recommend this cottage!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you for your review of Seawatch Cottage, referring to it as Highly Recommended. Since we have had occasion to stay in less than ideal places in the past, we have tried to make Seawatch a place to which our guests will want to return or recommend to their friends. Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We are a young professional couple from Toronto with 2 young children who fell in love with PEI the first time we visited. We cherish our peaceful time at the cottage which is a haven from our hectic city life.
Why the Owner Chose Miminegash:
We love nature, cottage living, beach holidays, great food (especially lobster)! This property has ocean, beautiful sand, stunning sunsets, and lots of space with natural forest to explore. It's more than we dreamed of and is always our perfect family getaway.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
A typical day at the cottage for us starts with fresh coffee in the morning while watching the sun rise over the pond. Mornings are great for a long walk or play on the beach. In the afternoon, swimming, napping, and making sand castles, followed by a walk to the harbour to meet the fishermen arriving with fresh lobster. After cleaning up with a fresh outdoor shower, dinner is made and served at a picnic table by a campfire overlooking the cape. We wait for the final show... an incredible sunset which never disappoints. Then, a good nights sleep, and repeat the next day!
