Large, clean rooms. Well supplied kitchen. Friendly neighbors. One down side is that the bedrooms are next to the outside hallway. Too much foot traffic.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We rented the Kona condo for three nights in late September 2012. It's a comfortable, well-appointed two-bedroom, two-bath unit, located about half a block from Kahalu'u Beach. The large living room leads to a wide deck through sliding glass doors and offers a view of the ocean. The building is small, so one doesn't have the feeling of being lost in a huge development. The pool is private with pretty flowers (the largest hibiscus we've ever seen) and a key-operated elevator from the garage. The owner has thought of everything. (We own a vacation rental house on the mainland ourselves, so we're sensitive to the kinds of amenities guests expect.) We especially appreciated the well stocked kitchen with good-quality cookware, everything one needs to make a full dinner, and an ample supply of plush beach and bath towels. The owner provides snorkel equipment, but we opted to rent our own masks and fins. We recommend Reef Teach at Kahalu'u Beach or Snorkel Bob’s just to the north, but go early as the water can get crowded. The excellent KTA Supermarket is located less than a mile away. Be sure to go to Da Poke Shack for lunch--a wonderful assortment of different kinds of poke. It's listed in the book of suggestions that the owner has provided. If we return to Kona, we would definitely rent this condo again.Owner response: Thank you so much for your review. I'm glad you had a wonderful time in Kona and in my "Peaceful Nest"! Louise

I would like to give this property TEN STARS if I could! The photos do not do justice to the feeling that comes over you as you open the front door to this spacious condo and the sea breeze greets your senses. The property was immaculate and we enjoyed many beautiful sunsets while sipping wine or Mai Tai's on the lanai. The kitchen is amazing and the bedrooms are very private and spacious. The location could not be better. I can't wait to return to this "Peaceful Nest"!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our second stay here was even more enchanting. We will be back for a 3rd and 4th stay in the near future. We've found our home away from home!! Louise has done a fantastic job making it difficult for us to leave. Coffee on the lanai in the morning and the incredible sunsets are awesome!!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your review! I'm glad you seem to love this place as much as I. Come back soon!

This is a beautiful condo that is very accessible to several beaches. It has a great layout for several couples or a family to enjoy. It was great that both bedrooms had their own attached bathrooms. There are only 15 units in the condo complex and is very quiet. Neighbors were friendly. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the lanai in the morning and in the evening with the view of Kahaluu Beach. The newly remodeled kitchen is fully stocked with pots/pans, utensils, and kitchen appliances. Nice decor throughout the condo. This living room/dining area is pretty but very comfortable. We also enjoyed the pool and grill area. Although there is snorkeling gear available, it is for children or for small females. It would also be nice if there were comfortable collapsible beach chairs available to use. We definitely will consider coming back to this condo for future trips. It was a perfect in many ways.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thanks for the suggestions. I will definitly add larger snorkle gear (I thought I had all sizes covered-sorry) and beach chairs as well. Great ideas! I'm glad you had a good stay, and thanks for the review!

Absolutely incredible place to stay in Kona. We relaxed and ate breakfast on the Lanai every morning while watching looking at the best snorkeling areas on the island. Sunsets were beautiful as well. The condo is spacious, very clean, well furbished and very relaxing. Whether it was watching a movie, having a drink, listening to music, reading or listening to the waves, it was terrific. The location was quiet a short drive or medium walk to downtown. And, walking a short block to snorkel in the bay was great too. We used all the amenities including the pool and enjoyed listening to the birds and watching the geckos in the trees. Highly recommend this bargain place as one of the best we've stayed in while in Kona. Enjoy.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your review! I know you have been to Kona several times and I am so glad you loved "Maluhia Punana". I have tried to make this have every comfort of home. I hope you will be able to come back again! Louise

About the owner: I have been coming to Kona since I was five years old. I love this island, and chose to purchase this condo in this building because it embodies what i think is the spirit of Hawaii. It just 'feels' like Hawaii! Once I arrive in my 'peaceful nest' I never want to leave.! I think you will feel the same.
Why the Owner Chose Kahaluu Beach:
Kahalu'u Bay Villas is a small building, only 15 units, which makes it very intimate. The Koa wood cabinets and floors in the kitchen, and the amazing view from the lanai made this the place I wanted. I looked at many condos, but none compared to this one for charm. To me, this condo embodies the spirit of Hawaii! I have made this condo my second home, so I have remodeled and decorated with my best and favorite things!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
I swim every morning, and snorkel at least a couple of times while I am here! Life is good, and easy, across the street from Kahalu'u Bay! It is so wonderful to be so close to some of the best snorkeling on the island. I love to watch the turtles. There is a farmer's market and craft show each Wednesday and it is less than a 5 minute walk away.
