I stayed at Villa Madu with 8 friends for a week to celebrate my 50th birthday. The accommodation was outstanding, the included breakfasts superb and the staff always friendly, attentive and helpful. The location is within walking distance to the main street but also secluded and private.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Property was even better than described. We rented entire villa ans every room was comfortable, clean and each had their own unique touches. The owner was extremely helpful with everything. She even arranged a Balinese themed birthday party for one of us, complete with live music and Balinese dancing. The dancer's at one point taught us to dance. Staff bent over backward (even though we didn't request this) to make our stay fabulous. It was very helpful to have driver to get around. He also met us at the airport which was a relief in the midst of chaos with taxi drivers descending on us for fares. We would absolutely recommend this property! ( we peeked in some of the other places while traveling around the city and Vila Madu is the best!)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Villa Madu was amazingly beautiful, exquisit gardens and pool area. The staff were so kind, professional yet warm and made us all feel at home also accomodated our every need. Food is some of the best I have had in Bali, I recommend staying in often for Nurdi's dinners, not just the incrediable breakfasts as she is truely accomplished, is healthy, ample, varied & beautifully presented with TLC! The villa is done with an artistic ambiance, open in door-out door living, spacious, with decking for many quiet settings. Or lounging by the infinity pool over looking the river & gardens. Adrienne & the staff are truely gifted hosts and make for a luxury vacation right in Ubud yet completely private. I highly recommend staying at this lovely Villa Madu. Don't feed the monkey which came looking for breakfast! It is Bali at it's best.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I stayed here for 2 nights and would do it again in a heartbeat. The staff in particular are talented and obviously love their jobs... they are great cooks but then it's easy to go out for meals to downtown Ubud which is just a few minutes away. There are actually a few good places to eat just at the end of the street. Rooms are spacious, nice and interesting furniture, lovely gardens and pool overlooking the river ravine. If you like dogs you will love the adorable pups who live in the adjacent owner's house... :) Many of the villas I have looked at in the area are too ostentatious or are located in a too-secluded location, or worse yet, are in the middle of rice fields that they have paved to build cement buildings on! Or, some are built with inferior materials and are obviously built just for commercial use. This villa gets it just right...in tune with the local neighborhood and nature, and with expensive luxury touches that add to the ambiance. Would recommend this villa to anyone!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Eight of us had the absolute pleasure of being Adrienne's guests in her gorgeous villa in the jungle. This ia such a uniquely beautiful and tranquil property. SETTING: It is in the jungle, open air...you hear all the animal sounds and hear the rain and feel the breeze. Yet, a short walk up the street and you are in the center of Ubud. And, if you don't feel like walking, complimentary van rides anywhere into town. PROPERTY: Architecturally exquisite. Beautiful bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas, pool, ponds, grounds and the 2 most friendly and loveable dogs. DINING: Nurdi, the head cook, is amazing, as is all the staff. Sumptuous breakfasts and snacks are complimentary and dinner can be easily arranged (for just the price of groceries). We even followed along with Nurdi to the market so she could teach us how she shops and then she showed us how to prepare an Indonesian meal with all the trimmings (our own version of a cooking class). She was infinitely patient with all our questions and was a delight. She is a role model on how to be a better, more relaxed, more adventorous cook and even more on how to be a better person! All the staff was wonderful. ADRIENNE: the owner/host --It must have been our best fortune to be at Villa Madu at the same time that Adrienne was also in Bali (she is not always there). To have had the opportunity to meet her and spend some time with her and have her answer so many of our questions about Bali and the Balinese was priceless. A better host would be impossible to find. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for 5 days in your paradise. TERIMA KASIHRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My best friend and I had the pleasure of staying at Villa Madu for 4 days. We wanted a peaceful, quiet and beautiful property and that's what we got. It was a perfect place for 2 city girls to come unwind and decompress (and celebrate their 30th birthdays). The photos don't do the property justice! The house, villas and property were cleaned and maintained everyday by the staff. The staff is excellent! They're all super helpful, pleasant and very friendly. The cook, Nurdi cooks unbelievable meals. She cooked us dinner a few nights and the food was always delicious. The breakfasts she cooks are amazing too. The owner, Adrienne was super helpful in answering questions. Whenever I had questions, I could count on a response in a timely manner. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. I would highly recommend Villa Madu to my family & friends and the next time I'm in Bali, I'm definitely staying here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

I had the good fortune of hearing about Villa Madu through my friend Steve. Staying here for the six days I did was a real pleasure and I came away wanting to go back immediately! It was like being in the middle of a beautiful, green jungle but with all the modern amenities. The place is set at a slight remove from the bustle of town, and there's a lovely serenity about it. My bungalow reminded me a little of the old Tiki Room at Disneyland. Staff was efficient and extremely friendly. All in all, a great ambience that made me feel safe, welcome and at home on my first trip to Bali. Highly recommended!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Bali is like the magic mystery tour to begin with, but even more amazing when you find a place that feels like your own heavenly piece of perfect paradise. Villa Madu is just so charming, with a beautiful river running below, and with swimming pool and wading pool. The main house is a real Romantic Bali experience. PLUS there is a 47" flat screen TV with satellite and a DVD library which I didn't watch at all, After our first few days I realized I want to bring my family back every year. . . . The villa owner is a very interesting woman with great taste, who and has been living in Bali for nearly 20 years. She knows all the off beat places to visit and the best restaurants in town. The staff is especially warm-hearted, kind and so helpful. Nurdi and Jero served up some of the best food we had in Bali. Our driver Ngakan was another great part of our trip. He speaks pretty good English and was always pointing out things to us and explained a lot about the people and customs. He took us to the small village where he grew up and showed us the rice paddies and how the rice is harvested. He took us to see one of his childhood friends in the village who is a painter, and my grandkids got to paint with him....These people were so nice my grandkids asked if they could stay home with them instead of going out with us, and they cried when we left Bali. They still talk about Bali and Villa Madu and always ask when are we going back . . .Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I cannot praise this property enough. Visitng Bali was absolutely amazing but staying at Villa Madu was the icing on the cake. I stayed in one of the lovely bungalows, which was extremely comfortable and clean plus the saff are wonderful and make you feel very welcome. The property is very safe, easily accessible and centrally located in Ubud close enough to the city (literally a 5 minute walk to town) but you still feel like you are in your own little bit of paradise surrounding by a topical forest with its on swimming pool! The property is great for families, couples or a group of friends. Definitely worth booking.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I just turned 50 in august and knew I wanted the vacation of a lifetime, We found it in Bali. From the moment we arrived, it was carefree and easy. A friend recommended Villa Madu in the city of Ubud, she stayed twice before and raved about the accommodations. She hit the nail on the head. When we arrived Kahn (the driver arranged by the Villa) was there to greet us. It was so nice to get into the air conditioned van and have cool bottles of water waiting. The drive to the Villa is about an hour& half and once we arrived I knew we made the right choice. The property is an oasis in the heart of Ubud, the art capital of Bali. First the entrance to the house greets you with a pond full of beautiful Koi and Lotus flowers. We stayed in the main guest house, with sweet and tasteful furnishings, beautiful, but not pretentious, really comfortable, open air. The living room opens out to the yard, where the grounds are stunning, beautiful flowers, palm trees, fruit trees and a swimming pool too. I can’t tell you how many times we were prepared to take a leisurely walk into downtown, sat down in those high back comfortable chairs and whittled away the afternoon. The bedroom was nice as well, beautiful Balinese style bed and art. The bathroom, all open air, but private--imagine sitting in a beautiful stone bathtub (big enough for two) overlooking the rainforest. I could go on, from the friendly staff, everyone was just kind and easy, from the outdoor dogs Monkey & Alfie, all made us fell welcome. In morning we were greeted with coffee or tea and a little biscuit or sweet, and served breakfast at our leisure. Bali is an amazing island and Villa Madu is a great place to stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We have stayed at Villa Madu on two occasions. The information given on the site accurately represents the place, but does not due justice to the beauty of the environment or the friendliness and graceful attention to needs shown by the house staff. Imagine yourself living (for two days, a week, two weeks, forever) in a tropical garden where you can relax completely, surrounded by an environment painted by Rousseau, in a beautiful, clean, modern bungalow with all the charm and artistic touches of old world Bali. Sleep at night in a beautiful room with a romantic setting. You can swim or relax by day at the pool which overlooks a river ravine, or take an afternoon nap in the Pondok in the upper garden. The buildings on the property display the arts and culture of Bali, and yet are designed with contemporary conveniences. You will be surrounded by gardens, art and beauty. And this relaxing oasis is located in Ubud, the center of Balinese art and dance. Your every need will be taken care of by the house staff, who are wonderful. Nurdi, the cook is phenomenal, a great cook! She prepared a birthday dinner while we were there, assisted by Dewa and Jero. Some of our best times were family dinners here and our interactions with the Balinese staff. We fell in love with all three of them, and felt that we were leaving friends at the end of our week. During the day you can walk in a few minutes to Monkey Forest Road, and streets lined with small shops full of wonderful arts and crafts, traditional and contemporary clothing, and amazing restaurants. Also there is an internet café minutes away. If you travel with a computer, there is wifi throughout Villa Madu. At night you can walk to the Ubud Palace, the Water Palace, or local temples to see Legong, Kecak, and other traditional Balinese dances. On our first trip the two of us had a romantic stay at Villa Madu and on the last visit six members of our family stayed for over a week, a trip we will always remember. We hired a driver to take us to some of the wonderful sites of Bali away from Ubud. This is easily done for the most part with a day trip, returning to the Villa in the evening, but some days, we just stayed “at home”. It just could not get any better. We enthusiastically recommend Villa Madu, and cannot wait to return ourselves.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I had the amazing fortune of falling into a secluded piece of Heaven for an entire month. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful and the solitude made for an amazing experience. I was within walking distance of all the amazing things to see and experience in UBUD...The Monkey Forest, shadow puppet shows, great food and amazingly beautiful temples. The Villa is exquisit and very modern, with a wonderful traditional infusion of Balinese art and furniture...I really never wanted to leave. If you have the opportunity to stay in this oasis it wil be something you will always carry with you.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
