The Perfect Beach Vacation

As a lifelong Floridian, and former resident of Gulf County, I have high expectations when I take a trip to the shore. The Pottery Barn was perfect in every way. The house was decorated beautifully. The kids loved playing the board games from the game closet. The house is right next door to the pool, and a 2 minute walk on the board walk to a gorgeous beach. The Tradin' Post store was a one minute drive, and had bait, odds and ends that we forgot, and ice cream for the kids. One afternoon we made the 5 minute drive to the state park and the boys played in the bay and caught a bucketful of crabs. The house had an ample supply of beach chairs, toys, and the cart allowed us to wheel things back and forth with ease. The kitchen had everything that we needed to cook wonderful meals each night, with the exception of the evening that we went to the Indian Pass Raw Bar (a 10 minute drive) and enjoyed snow crab, oysters, shrimp, and a wonderful local band. The owner and the management company were all friendly and very accomodating. We plan to return to the Pottery Barn for future trips to Cape San Blas.

We had such a wonderful time! The beach home was lovely with many amenities. The kitchen was especially well stocked and made cooking enjoyable. The master suite upstairs also was quite nice. From the initial contact with the owner to the dealings with Coastal Joe, everything went well. Everyone was very nice and easy to work with. We walked the beach at least twice per day and appreciated the easy access. Port St. Joe and Apalachicola were great to visit and we had such a good time there. We took our dog, Cooper, to the beach and he thoroughly loved walking and running on the beach. We met many other pet owners and enjoyed the camaraderie. I would consider taking the children and grandchildren there for a summer beach vacation. Many thanks to Keli & Coastal Joe.

We are on our last day here of our month long stay. The house is very well stocked, in good condition, and in a great location for a third tier home. With the walkway to the beach next to the house, it's a straight shot down to the beach. Even though there is a house between you and the Gulf, we had great sunsets. Coastal Joe is a great rental company and responds well to any issues that came up. The only thing I would let people know about is the fact that there is no interior stairway into the house. If you park in the garage (no openers) you need to come through the bottom bedroom area, back outside, and then up the exterior stairs to get into the house. It also means that anyone staying in the lower bedroom needs to do that same thing to come into the house from their room and will have people coming through to get back outside and into the house. It was a pain when it was raining, cold or windy for us. Otherwise, we had a wonderful stay, loved the kitchen and screened porch and would recommend this house to anyone looking to save some money and not be right on the beach.

Owner response:Hi Carol, Thank you for your review! I am sorry that you never thought to ask Coastal Joe for our second set of garage door openers or thought to call me in Atlanta. We do not give them to our weekly renters, but they are available to our monthly renters upon request. As far as "walking thru the in-law suite to get into the house", that is news to me! In the 4 years of owning this home, I have never once walked into the house that way. We always walk to the back of the garage go out that door under the cover of the eve and then go up the backstairs to the kitchen and that covered porch. I agree, that going the long way through the inlaw suite must have been a pain. Please call me next time, maybe I can help your stay be more enjoyable! Please know that we do appreciate you renting!

It's like coming home again. Toucans in Mexico Beach terrible 4 years ago. Most delicious today. Perfect weather this week. Tornados at home in Missouri. So glad we are here. Most needed relaxing vacation. Air conditioner problems, but Coastal Joes sent help right away. Hope to make this an annual trip-wish we didn't have top drive 13 hrs to get here! We just returned from our fabulous vacation! Thank you so much for letting us enjoy your beautiful home! There were 9 of us, 4 adults and 5 children and the layout worked perfectly for us! The house was a little further from the beach than we had expected, but we decided that it's worth a few extra steps for the price savings of a house right on the beach. Plus, we loved being right by the pool because if we needed to be up at the house, we could look down and see all the kids as they swam. The master suite was beautiful and extra spacious! The outdoor shower was a HUGE help to keep the sand out of the house...wish I had one at my home! We loved that there were two close options to pick up some quick groceries instead of going all the way into Port St. Joe. The water and beach was wonderful and as gorgeous as we remembered. We stayed in Indian Pass last time and couldn't believe the clarity of the water on the cape! There is a big difference between the Cape and Indian Pass! Thank you again very much....I will certainly recommend your home to anyone that is interested in the area and will most likely be back ourselves!

Beautiful home, every convenience you can think of. Spent almost the month of Sept. 08 there. I enjoyed cooking in the large kitchen with almost every accessory you can think of. We loved it. My daughter and her sweetheart got engaged on the beach one evening. All I can say is we had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute there. It was so comfortable. Did not want to leave. We also stayed at the other home also, By the Sea, it was enjoyable. We thank you for the best vacation my family has had in quite a while. We only had 1/2 day rain the whole month although we did see the wave surge from one of the three hurricanes. WOW.

What a wonderful home!! We stayed in July of 2007 with my family-5 adults and 4 kids! We had the best time at this beautiful house. We loved taking evening walks on the beach to gather shells. We swam in the pool nearly all day with short breaks for lunch!The kids loved the smoothie machine and Grandaddy made them different flavored smoothies every morning. The weather was perfect the entire time-with rain the morning we left. We have been to Cape San Blas 3 times and love the quiet-yummy seafood-and nothing to do but relax! This is by far our favorite house to do all of the above in! Even though it is a very long drive from SC we are planning on making the trip this summer- so save us a week! :) The Ballentine and Nanney Families

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home! We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the place. Your home is comfortable and welcoming. The area is perfect: no goofy golf courses, no water parks, no tacky souvenir shops. Just the sky, the sun, the sand, and the water!! Beyond our expectations! We are considering a return in 2009. Our family of four just spent our Spring Break in this wonderful house. We were amazed at the incredible sunsets that were fully visible from several areas of the house and decks. The house was very clean when we arrived and there is plenty of space in this well decorated house. The kitchen is definately well-stocked, just as stated in the house description. The kitchen and dining area are also large enough for everyone to have plenty of space. Our girls loved the swimming pool next door and we liked the ability to watch them at the pool from the deck. We would definately recommend this house and will be staying here again.

Our group of 12 (2 families w/ 4 kids each) had a marvelous stay at SeaGlass the last week of July. This is a gorgeous home, sparkling clean and beautifully furnished. The layout is very nice with ample room for large groups. The views are lovely (great sunsets)and the porches are a special pleasure. The owners have paid great attention to details. They provide beach chairs, beach toys, umbrellas and a nice cart to roll the items to the beach. There are plenty of pillows, blankets, towels, books, videos, games, cd players,wonderful Whirlpool appliances and a amazing kitchen with literally anything you could ask for to cook, blend boat drinks, etc... The pool is lovely and well maintained (it was closed for 2 days for an inspection- not the owner's fault of course. The beaches show signs Ivan & Dennis, but are still lovely and almost deserted. We found a milion shells! The state park beach just down the road is a must-see! Breathtaking! Bring your bug spray though. One small note~ the bottom floor kitchenete was not quite completed for our stay. It was no problem, but if you are counting on using this feature you might check to be sure the work has been finished. All in all this is an exquisite home at a beautiful place. We would highly recommend this home to anyone who longs to escape the frantic atmosphere of the crowded beaches up the road. Shhhh... don't tell anyone how wonderful Cape San Blas is. Let's keep it to ourselves!!!

Welcome to our new home on Cape San Blas! We are SOOO excited to share it with you. We have decorated this house with Pottery Barn furniture ... what FUN that was to shop for! We are really excited to have a home with a community pool in a paved street development. Great for bikes and strollers. And, the beach is to die for! Come and see!
