We spent almost 2 years building our dream retreat, and now, you can share in that dream. Our home has everything you need for a PERFECT VACATION.
Are you looking for a relaxing atmosphere? Just picture yourself sitting in an overstuffed chair next to one of the FIREPLACES reading, enjoying a cup of coffee or glass of wine.
Do you want to rejuvenate? The indoor HOT TUB and SAUNA will make your anxieties melt away.
Do you want to reconnect with nature? The national forest is just across the street waiting for you to take a HIKE, SNOWSHOE or even CROSS COUNTRY SKI. World class FISHING is all around you.
Is skiing in you plans? We’re 25 miles from BRECKENRIDGE or if you want to enjoy the wonders of MONARCH Mountain, you can be on the lifts within an hour and not spend a fortune. Since you parked in our oversized 2-CAR GARAGE, you won’t have to scrape the snow and ice off the windows before you head to the slopes.
Are you worried the kids (of all sizes) will be bored? We have a WII GAME CONSOLE connected to the 52” big screen TV and an AIR HOCKEY table.
Maybe you want to share your experience with another family. Our home features TWO MASTER SUITES (with King sized beds) – one on the entry level and one on the main level. There is a queen-sized sofa-bed in the lower level and a twin-sized sofa-bed in the loft. If you have a little one, a Pac-n-play can be set up in either bedroom.
Are you tired of fast-food, crowded restaurants, and poor service? Our GOURMET KITCHEN has all of the amenities you’ll need to create great meals. There is even a gas grill on the main level deck. Prather’s market is less than 4 miles away.
If you do need time away from the kitchen, you are less than 15 minutes away from several restaurant choices in FAIRPLAY or the numerous choices 25 miles away in BRECKENRIDGE.
If you’ve out-grown the urge to vacation in a resort town, this is where you belong. Enjoy your vacation.

Ron was very friendly & helpful, the cabin was huge, perfectly appointed and gorgeous, and there was everything you could need/want. Fireplace & wood burning stove? Check! Wii & big screen TV? Check! Comfy beds & warm linens? Check! Hot tub & sauna? Check! Plus was on three levels so everyone could have a little privacy. For how lovely the cabin was, it was very reasonable as well. Would definitely stay again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks for the kind words Natalie. We're glad you and your family had a great stay.

My wife and I enjoyed a relaxing six days at this mountain cabin. Fantastic weather, beautiful views, gorgeous log cabin! Very clean! Close to great dining in Breckenridge (Le Petit Paris!), yet still out in the wilderness. Cabin has two nice sized KING master suites, good kitchen, nice indoor hot tub, great second story deck with gas grill and two tables. Lots of deer on or near the property. Very private. Only issues we had were due to our personal preferences. Four things to consider: 1. Lots of stairs 2. cabin is at 10,000 feet (sometimes it takes a while to adjust to high elevations-we spent time at the O2 oxygen bar in Breckenridge to help alleviate altitude sickness) 3. Needs hotel quality sheets (everything is top notch except for old sheets). 4. No bathtub (two nice showers and a hot tub though). Ron and Rita did a great job of putting together a good book explaining everything you need to know to enjoy their cabin and the area and Ron helped me via email with information as well during our stay. We had a very enjoyable stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We spent a week at this beautiful home. It is very clean and well supplied. I have rented 4 places through VBRO for our vacations over the past years, and this has been the best. This is a full-sized home for the price (probably less) than you'd pay at a hotel. We loved the two master suites. We have two teenage girls, and it helped that they had their own bathroom. All four of us had our own sinks. We used the washer and dryer, and that saved on our limited packing space. Most everything is within 1 to 2 hours from the home. We used it as our home base which allowed us to save money by eating breakfast in and packing our lunches. We white water rafted the Royal Gorge, rented a Jeep and drove Tin Cup and Cumberland Passes, soaked in Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, saw Pike's Peak and Garden of the Gods, along with the Olympic Training Center and the Colorado Springs zoo. We woke every morning to a sunrise over the mountains, and most nights we used the gas fireplace to take the chill off--even in the summer. The altitude makes everything cooler. I am a little bit of a neat freak, and this home met my approval. No dirt or hair in the corners. Clean sinks, tubs, showers--no scum. Soft, clean towels. Everything was dust free. If you rent this home, you won't be sorry.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We loved staying at this gorgeous cabin! The house was beautifully designed & decorated, in a great location, and it definitely felt like home with all the comforts we could have asked for. With plenty of space and something for everyone (hot tub, cozy fire, Wii, deck with views) this is a place to be. We will be coming back for sure!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

This mountain home shows the owners commitment to quality. The construction is fabulous and clearly every detail was well thought out and the pieces put together perfectly. Well equipped, well located and owners directions to finding house, opening and closing up were clear and concise. We felt fortunate to have found this wonderful property and would surely stay again. My family had a wonderful, relaxing weekend together and that was just what we needed!! The beauty and detail of this cabin made us not even want to get out and explore --- but one of the sunny, warm Colorado days forced us to get out of our pj's and take a hike of this scenic area. The kids loved the hot tub, air hockey/ping pong table as well as the Wii games. The parents loved the gorgeous fire place in the main living area, a great place to curl up with a good book - when they weren't playing a game of "giant checkers" with the kids. :) This will definitly be put on our short list of favorite places to take the family in the Colorado area. Thanks Rita and Ron for sharing your property with us! I will have to start off by saying the pictures don't do this place justice. Ron did a good job with the architect. When you look up the staircase, it's just gorgeous. It has everything you could ever need...and then some. The kitchen is so wonderful to work in, it's open and the appliances are up to date. (There was a cooking adjustment at 10,000ft. Since we are from Texas the cooking times/liquid measurements are a little different, if you plan on cooking you can find lots of tips on Google. ... another tip: Drink lots of WATER, we would get a little light headed, but water was the cure-all.) The beds were probably some of the most comfortable we slept in. Needless to say we slept well while we were there. The openness and view from the updstairs bedroom was beautiful. We don't get to wake up to Aspens and snow very often. The downstairs, I would say is geared toward kids/teens with the toys, Wii, air hockey table and the more lax furniture. We stayed the week after Christmas and were greeted with lots of snow on the ground(we loved it). We had a 2-Wheel drive and parked at the end of the driveway, we had no problems getting in/out. ( I wouldn't recommend parking at the top of the drive during snowy season, the drifts can be unfriendly) The roads at the ranch are well maintained. We went to Breck toward the end of our stay, it was a fairly short drive and beautiful. We had a fabulous stay at this cabin. The owners went above and beyond to make sure our stay was relaxing. They were very helpful and made our stay wonderful. We would definetly recommend this cabin to our family and friends, escpecially if skiing Breck or just need a relaxing get away. Just make sure you are able to walk up stairs easliy as the kitchen is located upstairs.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: We spent almost 2 years building our dream vacation home. I started setting the logs in January of 2006, It was a labor of love and one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. It is a unique design and a one of a kind home. The log trusses took amost 5 weeks to build and set into place. We are retired and living in Colorado Springs, CO. Our favorite activities include Skiing, Golf, Hiking and Travel. Our 2 grandchildren provide us with babysitting opportunities and they love to stay in our Fairplay home.
Why the Owner Chose Fairplay:
We used to own vacation homes in Breckenridge. However, we grew weary of the hustle and bustle. We always drove through the Fairplay area on our way to Breckenridge and noticed that we rarely had to drive in snow or ice until we got past Fairplay. So, we decided to build our new home there.
While I’ve skied Breckenridge for many years, I now enjoy driving to Monarch Mountain near Salida. During the week, the lift lines are non-existent and the snow is WONDERFUL. Add the facts that the lift tickets are about half the price of Breckenridge, there is free parking, the roads are clear (until you get within a mile of the parking lot), the food prices are reasonable, and it takes only about 10 minutes longer to get there! Monarch is a great family ski area.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Where do I start? The views are just the best. From our home, you can see several 14,000 foot peaks. In the meadow in front of our home, we see Elk, deer, and antelope. The wildlife in Breckenridge is primarily of the 2-legged variety! Warm Springs is a gated community, so security is a given. Our ranch manager keeps the roads clear and smooth year round so 4-wheel drive is not a requirement but is recommended for winter driving in the mountains. Fairplay is about 4 miles from our door and we are within 10-30 miles of almost every activity the mountains can offer. However, the greatest benefit is the peace and quiet. As a small business owner, I needed a place to kick back and relax while being close to the activities I enjoy. That is the essence of our home.
