This house was perfect for our family group. There was plenty of space to enjoy a variety of activities together and apart. We especially liked the view of the pond, the pool and ping pong table, and the large gathering place downstairs. The house is nicely furnished, with comfortable spaces for everyone. We didn't figure out the cooling system until we were nearly ready to leave and found the upstairs very warm for sleeping, but perhaps this would not have been a problem had we attempted to cool the house as soon as we arrived. The one disappointment was the distance to the downtown area. It is not walkable, and in fact takes over 10 minutes by car. Those wanting a place from which to enjoy the historic and shopping district need to be aware of this. Overall, the weekend was great, the farm house contributed tremendously to our goal of having a nice place to stay together with our family and enjoy some very special time.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

When I first saw the pictures of this property I though it was too good to be true. Not the case! This home and property is gorgeous! We were in town for a wedding and it was nice that our whole family could stay together. We would stay here again if ever in the area. We took an easy 40 minute drive to Gettysburg and the town of Fredrick was 5 minutes away. Grocery store 3 minutes away. Everything worked!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our daughter recently married in Frederick, MD...and I thought The Sage Way would be the perfect location for our family to be together during the wedding week-end. I could not have been more pleased! From the moment you drive down the long, picturesque driveway, you feel whisked away into an elegant setting that will keep you calm and relaxed for your entire stay. Upon entering this home...you will feel overcome with it's beauty...but as you settle in, you will feel comfortable and at home. The owners do a wonderful job of availing themselves to you and any needs that you might have. The kitchen is well-equipted with appliances, cookware, and dishes. Our family loved gathering around the large kitchen table and sharing stories and catching up with each other. You might laugh...but one of my favorite features of The Sage Way was the spacious and organized laundry room. It was beautiful and made my laundry area at my home look dismal in comparison. It was so convenient to keep all of the bathrooms stocked with clean towels and press your clothes. I would highly recommend The Sage Way for any family/group that is looking for a beautiful property to spend some quality time together. Trust me...you will never want to leave.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are so pleased you & your family had a good experience. Best wishes & Good luck.

The weekend was a perfect weekend getaway for our family and to honor our great mother for her 70th birthday by attending the inaugural weekend event with family & friends. We traveled to Frederick from various States. The drive from BWI airport was about 50 minutes. We traveled into DC via the Shady Grove Metro Station which is about 30 minutes’ drive from the house. Sage Way is absolutely beautiful. The property was very clean and has plenty of space. It met the needs of our group of 16 and there were still areas of the house that weren't used. We have highly recommended this place to family & friend. The owners were very nice and phoned to make sure our needs were accommodated. The games room was a huge plus for several teenagers who occupied that area of the house. We were grateful to have the opportunity to stay on this property with family to celebrate with our mom & visit Washington, DC during inauguration.Owner response: Its very satisfying to know you had a good time & made lasting memories at The Sage Way. Thank you very much for choosing The Sage Way & taking the time out to write the review. We truly appreciate it.

I was fortunate enough to find this property early enough in 2012 to book it for the Christmas holiday. I come from a large family and the majority of them live in the Frederick and Columbia areas of Maryland. Unfortunately, I live all the way out in California and none of my family members have homes large enough to host the entire family or provide a place for myself, my wife, our two children, and our mother to stay when we come to town. The Sage Way Farm solved all of those problems and made this past Christmas one I will never forget. The property is beautiful, even in the darkest days of winter, and the house is bright and extremely well maintained. My wife, kids, and I stayed upstairs and my mother stayed in the West Wing in-law suite on the main floor. We enjoyed several big family dinners in the dining room, hosting as many as 15 family members. We set up our tree downstairs (there was a tree lot literally across the street) and we also rang in the New Year watching the projection TV. My nephew enjoyed playing pool and table tennis in the bonus room and my kids got to enjoy their favorite programs and DVDs in the family room on the main floor. Restaurants and grocery stores were less than a mile away, but we ended up spending a lot of time just enjoying the space and the time with family. I do have some advice for families travelling with small children. There are three staircases in the house and a small two-step descent into the family room. We procured two baby/pet gates from my sister that helped us secure the two staircases leading upstairs, but the third staircase and the two-step descent to the family room required some extra vigilance on our part. Also, the house has a high chair, but no crib or Pack-and-Play, so make sure you bring your own. Except for the staircases, the house was fairly well baby-proofed. I'm sure the house is lovely in the summer, but I have to say that it really shined in the winter. We had three snowfalls (the first my children had ever seen) and each one turned the property into something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. The pond behind the house also hosted several gaggles of Canadian geese who came and went as they pleased. Despite the house's long history, it had very modern appliances in the kitchens, a laundry room that made all of my relatives envious, and very up-to-date bathrooms. We felt very comfortable while we stayed there. We would come back to the Sage Way Farm in a heartbeat!Owner response: We are very happy to learn you all had a good time & that the house served your needs well. We thank you for taking the time to write your encouraging comments. We hope you will visit us again in the not so distant future. Good Wishes.

Our daughter was getting married nearby and we made this home to all relatives that ventured out here. The home more than met our expectations-clean, looked just like photos, owner was so nice and helpful. We even got a private tour of the historic barn which was great as several of us come from a farm background. We had lots of room and slept 18 on our busy nights, with a few on airbeds. The laundry facilities were a godsend. Everyone commented on how great the place was. The porch was wonderful and that kitchen was to die for(wish I had it at home). I would certainly return here! Lots of people enjoyed sites near here-Gettysburg, Antietam, Frederick sites, as well as going on metro from Shady Grove to Washington D. C. Some toured Congress and the White House but you need passes way ahead for White House tour. Lots of museums on the mall, too. Aiports were all used. Baltimore was easy to get to & from. We had lots of international travelers and most flew in & out of Dulles. Reagan was not as close but could be done. Lots of restaurants in the area, one owned by owner has a great lunch special. This is a mexican restaurant that is quite close. 2 groceries very closeby. We loved it here!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.
Owner response: Glad to know you all had a good time & enjoyed The Sage Way. Do visit us again. Thanks & Best wishes

Sixteen of my extended family, from four different states, gathered in Frederick for my son's wedding. We decided to spend the week after the wedding vacationing together and enjoying the many historic sites nearby. The farm house accommodated our large group beautifully. With five full bathrooms, there was no waiting, even when we all got ready for the wedding at the same time! The house had plenty of large spaces for us to gather for games and movies together, and small areas where individuals could find time for a quiet book. The setting is beautiful and so relaxing. Many in our group got up early to jog in the surrounding area and enjoy its beauty. Yet even though it felt like we were out in the country, it was convenient to groceries & downtown Frederick; and a short drive to Antietam, Gettysburg, and Baltimore, and the metro into Washington D.C. Everyone agreed this place was a great find!Owner response: We are so happy to hear you & your family had a good time. We thank you for your kind words so also for the details you mention about the property. Do come back & see us & The Sage Way again. Best wishes for a joyful life. Renu

We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the house. We had a family gathering there including grandchildren. It was perfect for our large family. The long driveway was great for taking the 2 one year old babies for stroller rides. We loved that it seemed as if you were out in the country and just over the hill is everything you could need including a grocery store that was open 24 hrs. When we were packing to leave my 8 year old granddaughter asked if we could come back. I would recommend this home for a great getaway.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
