This cottage is located right behind Beachfront at 18th.St., known as "THE POINT" one if not the best surfing beaches in Newport. Weather "boogie,body, or board surfing, you wont't find a better location. A two minute walk to the beach and a three minute walk to the Newport Beach Pier.
The front unit cottage as shown here; is a cute 2-Bedroom, 1-Bath with a full kitchen. There is a Queen bed in one of the bedrooms and the second bedroom has a double bunk bed and a twin bed. In the living room there is a very COMFORTABLE fold out sofa bed and loves eat. Ideal for a family of six.
All rentals have carport parking, cable TV,, outside grill,laundry facilities and are ideally located within walking distance to just about everything.

- I also have some ' Boogie boards'and bikes available for renter's to use, (I keep them on hand for my four grandsons).I do ask that they lock bikes when using them, and put them away when done,or they'll be gone. The public bay is practically across the street, and in the summer they have a lifeguard on duty. There's a roped swim, wade area,rest rooms,showers,nice sandy beach,and free boat launcnh. I have an inflatable Kayak renters can use(Adult supervision)if they wish.Or they can fish in the bay, or the pier, it's only 5 min. away.

The Peninsula is so convenient to Disneyland;Knottsberry Farm;1/2 Hr. Freeway is 1 mile away ;John Wayne airport 15 minutes;LA Airport 1 Hr.The rental property is right behind Beachfront where you have guarded Beaches & Great Boogieboarding & surfing etc. We also have Boogie boards (to share) & sand toys. At times...Bikes (2)The Bay is right across the street also with a small Beach for the younger children & beautiful view of all the boats!

I was a beach lifeguard for L.A.County before moving to Orange County in 1961. I fell in love with the Newport Penn. and rented here during the winter while going to college.I became a SCUBA Instructor in 1963, taught diving while finishing college and went into sales and evidentually bought down here. I've always loved to body surf,skin dive sail, and I couldn't think of a better place to live than here.

Location, Location, Location! This charming cottage is located at the PERFECT spot at Newport Beach -- just a house off of the boardwalk. Not only did our children enjoy spending time at the beach each day, but they LOVED walking to the 24 hour bakery just north of the Newport Pier about 3 times a day! Dave, the owner, and his daughter, were kind and accommodating. The place was clean and quaint. We hope to come back every year...thank you!

We first of all would like to say the owner and the owner's daughter were heart warming people. They both made us feel welcome, and offered to help with any neccesities needed. Our stay was peaceful, and the scenery is exquisite!!! The beach is literally a couple hops away from where we stayed and we felt comfortable leaving our kids in the cottage while my husband I strolled the boardwalk alone! Nice community! Perfect for a summer getaway for the whole family. Thank you Dave and Amber..We will be back next year at around the same time.

I have stayed at this beach home for years and years with my wife and sons, every year we look forward to returning , even though for one week a year, it is truly the best experience a family can have on vacation. This house is cozy and so inviting, in the perfect location for everything one needs. Best restaurants! Bike riding, the pier, board walk, this is a place we will plan every year, we love love love it!

My approach to reviews is to let people know what to expect so that they are more confidant in their decision to book a rental. People are less likely to be disappointed if they know the pros and cons of a rental, so here they are. Pros- we stayed in the lower rear unit, a one bedroom with two fold out couches in main room. The location is great, one house behind the boardwalk, and close to pier and restaurants. Very nice beach, not crowded, very clean and family friendly. You can sleep 6 in this unit. Cons- there are very few amenities, just the basics. You are expected to buy any supplies you need, like garbage bags for the trash can, toilet paper, etc... There is no dishwasher, just a sponge and some soap and no dish towels. Also no pasta stained or cheese grader so if you are planning on cooking then bring your own stuff. The master bed is ok on comfort level but not great. The two fold out beds are so uncomfortable, they are super thin and feel like springs poking you in the back. If you put the comforters down on top for some cushion then kids may find them ok, but if you do this in winter you will have nothing to cover you. Some of the sheets were not clean and smelled sweaty for these beds. The most disappointing thing was that the owner, although he means well, told me that there were two tvs with cable, a DVD player, and wireless Internet, none of which is true. The main tv has cable, the bedroom one was broken and hooked up to nothing, and no DVD player for the kids to watch movies. When I told Dave about this his first response was that we were on vacation so why did we need to check email or watch tv anyway? But he did get the cable guy out there and hooked up a small tv, but with no cable channels, and still no DVD player or wireless in our unit. The upper rear unit may have wireless now though. That being said, the lower rear is quieter than the front which is on a major street with trucks going by early in the morning, and the unit is less expensive than others in the area, but be prepared for a spartan and mostly outdated unit. I didn't mind the surf shack atmosphere, but I did not like how we were promised amenities like DVD player, etc... that were not actually available. The owner is a nice guy, but maybe overwhelmed by the three units, so that is a factor.
Owner response: when told that there was only one T.V. I informed renter that I only put one in the one bedroom apartment, but I did bring and hook up another T.V. that got only the basic stations for her. I have internet in every unit, with WiFi upstairs, but it was acting up, and cable company couldn't come out until Sat. to fix it. I've since bought 3 WiFi units and had them installed myself. There is a DVD player in the closet,my fault, I didn't install it after the painters left. Any kitchen utensils needed, I would gladly furnish if informed. I offer sheets,towels,linens,etc.(pot luck,and free of charge),I also have bikes and boogie boards for renters use (pot luck, and free of charge). I'm sorry she expected more, I want all my guests to have a great time. Dave Johnson

Great Newport Beach 2 bedroom 2 bath Condo, comfortable and convenient . Just off the beach, as described. Easy leasing process, fully furnished and equipped. Will definetly rent this property again. Less than a 5 minute walk to Newport Pier, Shops and Dining. Great location for teenagers . Owner was always available for questions and information.

Our family has stayed here over and over again It is so fun! It is so clean so nice inside and out located in the perfect place in Newport Beach We would only stay here Dave the owner is the sweetest most honest man around! We look forward to this every year!
Owner response:I been around beaches all my life,first as a skin diver,(before wet suits and scuba ) then as a Los Angeles County Life Guard.I moved to Orange County in 1962,and the New was like home to me.I started teaching SCUBA Diving in 1963, while going to college, and winter rented at the beach every year,until I bought my own property. I want my renters to enjoy the the beach as much as I have over the years. Weather its the little kids catching sand crabs, or learning to boogie board, or catching a wave, or just relaxing;To a bike ride on the main drag.To a simple b.b.q. with friends,or a suntan on the beach. I've had over three generations of families come at on time or another, and I've seen kids grow into adults , and still come back or stop by and say hi. Its not just a business,its a way of life.Dave.

Property was just as described. The 2BR/2BA sleeps 6 very comfortably, perfect for families. Sheets and pillows were included (nice!), as were the use of some bicycles and various beach toys that are on the property. Just steps from the sand and within a 5 minute walk to all kinds of restaurants and gift shops (around the Newport pier). Very friendly owners, smooth transaction, good experience - would do it again! Thanks!
