A great spot to just relax and enjoy the view. A large great room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the bay and a stone fireplace so you can watch the sunset or sit by the fire. The home is located about 35 minutes from Bar Harbor, the hub of activities on Mount Desert Island and gateway to Acadia National park. Bar Harbor offers dozens of restaurants and shops and also kayak and bike rentals.
Hikers who prefer less crowded trails will find the nearby Black Mountain and Schoodic Mountain offer gorgeous panoramic vistas of lakes, ponds, Frenchman Bay, and the Porcupine Islands without the large numbers of hikers found on the better known trails of Acadia. Winter Harbor, just 5 minutes away, offers galleries, shops and dining, all located in a quaint lobstering village with a picturesque town harbor and dock. Lobster pounds abound, and two are located within a few miles of the house. Swim and fish at nearby Jones Pond or Donnell Pond at the foot of Schoodic Mountain

With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, this cabin was the perfect way to start off the New Year. Pure serenity. A couple of deer wandered by. A fox meandered. A blazing fire in the stone fireplace in the beautiful main room upstairs or blazing fire in the beautiful stone fireplace downstairs. Breath in the clean air. Relax. Play cards. Grab some lobsters straight off the boat. Watch the tide roll in and out while sitting in rocking chairs overlooking the incredible ocean views. Warm and cozy. Clean. I almost don't want to tell anyone about this special gem. The owners know exactly how to get away with this special gem nestled in the woods. Everything you need is right there. We'd go back in a heartbeat. It's perfect. K&F Somerville MADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Rich: I want to tell you how much we enjoyed our short week in your Maine home. The location was stunning, both in the sun and rain. As most attractions in the area were closed we took advantage of that great stone fireplace and the comfy couch to lounge in. I haven't enjoyed doing nothing so much for a long time. I even got a couple of good books read. The people of Winter Harbor were great and very welcoming. We look forward to renting from you again. I haven't found a more relaxing place anywhere. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a fabulous time vacationing in this wonderful house. The location is beautiful and quiet...away from the touristy Bar Harbor, but the nearby ferry can take you easily take you to Bar Harbor for a visit. The house is clean, it's stocked with all the amenities you would need for cooking up a delicious lobster dinner, and mussels picked right from the property! My husband and I stayed here with another couple and their baby. We all had a great time. The split level house with two master bedrooms is a great set up for families.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

What a beautiful home!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are interested in a quiet, relaxing home then this is the house for you. The sunsets are gorgeous. The views of Frenchman bay are spectacular. The home is well equipped for any of your needs. If you want to cook lobster they have everything you will need and more. The schoodic peninsula of Acadia National Park is close to the house and it is the best kept secret of Acadia National Park. What wonderful views from every stop you make. The owner also suggested two galleries that they like and let me tell you we loved them as well. The granite gallery is so interesting and the owners were amazing. Chapter two in Corea was also great. When you book a house rental on-line you never know for sure what it is like till you get there but this house is just as nice in person as it was on-line.Did you find this review helpful? I first vacationed in this amazing log home in July of 2011 and I could not wait to return. Immediately upon entering, you are greeted with a spectacular view of Frenchman Bay. This home is warm and inviting and offers room enough for a large family/group but still feels cozy. The great room and the bedrooms are large and well appointed. The furnishings and decor are beautiful yet homey - I never felt as if I could not truly live while in this space. I could not have been more comfortable or felt more at home here than if I had been a personal guest of the owners. I eagerly await vacationing in this little piece of paradise again next summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our family had the good fortune to select an Easter Vacation at this brand new log cabin on Frenchman’s Bay. The setting is so idyllic in this wooded environment which opens onto magnificent views of the surrounding islands, mountains and bay. The cabin had “all the comforts of home plus.” It was perfect for entertaining with its spacious great room, grand fire place and deck to rock on. The layout and equipment in the kitchen made cooking enjoyable and easy. Sleeping was glorious with the ocean, woods and cabin air. We still can see, smell and taste each sunset we experienced there, whether sitting on the deck or basking on the rocks at the water’s edge. We had so much fun with the variety of available activities. It did not matter whether we were visiting local artists, experiencing fun and art filled streets of nearby Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, hiking the trails in Acadia National Park, or enjoying a nearby restaurant’s cuisine; we totally enjoyed each day. Now I know why so many make a fuss over fresh, Maine lobsters; absolutely delicious! We really just wanted to end our days at our cabin; seeing the sun set or the fog, whichever arrived, but we knew it all was there just for us. It was a fantastic vacation, filled with many joys, spiritual moments, playful activity but most of all a place and location which was just what we needed and wanted it to be. We thank the creators who built and placed this log cabin exactly where and how it is. You will not go wrong to take your vacation right here; we are so appreciative that we didRecommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My stay at this beautiful log cabin has been the most relaxing vacation of my life! I highly recommend it We were able to host up to 10 visitors while we vacationed. Our many jaunts in Acadia were easy to get to and only minutes away. The lobster co-op in Winter Harbor enabled us to eat lobster every evening after our hikes and kayak tours of the islands in front of the house. The evening sunset was the perfect setting each night to just lay on the warm rocks and watch the moon come up.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
