Charming plantation home in central Kihei, Maui furnished with a Hawaiian theme. This unique property with it's lush grounds and tropical foliage is close to all but has the feel of being in the country.
The three bedrooms are uniquely decorated and will be a great refuge at the end of a busy day of swimming, tanning, and sightseeing. The house has air conditioners in each room. Each bedroom has its own television or choose a movie from our favorites and watch it together in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need if you enjoy cooking. Beach chairs, boogie boards, ice chest, barbecue, beach mats, fins, sand toys in outside storage area. End your day with dinner on the large covered lanai where you can barbecue your dinner and sit and relax and talk story.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
In 2000 we decided to convert the Plantation House into a vacation rental. We wanted vacationers to be able to experience the type of houses that people built and lived in when Maui was a quiet, undeveloped piece of paradise. The house is pretty much original, although the floors and bathroom have been redone. There is a large lanai on the property so you can sit out in the evenings and enjoy the cool evenings, have a barbecue and talk story.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Our property is not a condominium complex. It is not a typical mainland style residential property. It is a typical property from the 50's and 60's and 70's. There are lots of large tropical trees and tropical plants throughout the acre of land. There are fragrant plumeria trees, banana trees, red hibiscus plants, even an occasional peacock will come through the property. We have 9 acres of an undeveloped grove of trees that line the whole length of the property which gives the property the feel of being away from it all when in reality we are 1 block from the beach and 2 blocks from the shops. We get lots of repeat visitors and families of local people as well as families of former visitors.
This is a large grassy area that fronts the sand of the Maui Sunset Beach. It is a quiet stretch of beach where you might find windsurfers when the wind is up in Kihei. There is also a large reef tha
Located just 2 blocks away is the Kihei Post Office, Stella Blues restaurant (a local favorite), Longs drugs, Star Market, gift stores and even a McDonalds and Taco Bell.
Shave Ice anyone? This little open air market has trinkets and gifts to take back to your love ones.
Just a short 2 miles away are the Kamaole Beaches where there are lifeguards to protect you from the surf.
Piilani Shopping Center is 1 mile away and has a Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Outback Restaurant, Blockbuster, Safeway and the World famous Hilo Hatties, as well as a bathing suit shop, book store, and loc

There is a canoe paddling club that offers canoe rides certain times and days of the week.
Kihei has it's own competitive canoe club and races throughout the summer. Come out and cheer for the Kihei Canoe Club.
Locally grown Fresh produce and vegetables are sold next to the ABC store and across from the Kihei Canoe Club most days.
Calvary Chapel meets at 8 and 10 on Sundays and 7 on Wednesday nights at the "Old Maui Lu Longhouse" located on the grassy knoll of the Maui Lu Hotel.
Kihei Golf Course is just one of the many golf courses that Maui is known for.
This is the end of the road. There are lava fields and a wonderful walk to some coves and caves for the adventurous.
This area has wonderful coves where you can snorkel and see colorful fish and even turtles.

Don and Joy moved to Maui in 1981 to raise their family. We bought an acre of land in Kihei with an original plantation house. Over the years we have subdivided the property, added a cottage and another house, but left the original house as authentic as we could.
Don is a licensed general contractor and Joy is a licensed trave agent.
Our children are married and having their own families and have moved elsewhere, so we open up our property to vacationers who want to enjoy the Maui we know and love, and especially enjoy the Plantation House. There are not alot of them left on the island.
We live on property and will be available to help you in your visit to Maui.
Our first grandson, Kingston is 1 year old and our first granddaughter will be born in October.
