Came back to Lazy Bear once again, and had a great time. It is always fun exploring the property behind the cabin. This time, the steps to the spring pond had been added. Great place to sit and relax and enjoy the quiet. Will be back again.

What a beautiful area. The cabin was more than we hoped for. We needed a relaxing time off from the hastles of home. The cabin was very "homey", the scenery was beautiful and the amenities were relaxing. Thank you for offering your beautiful property to us.

I think the LBC was really nice, we both enjoyed ourselves but for the price the place should have been perfect. The hot tub looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, we were asked to not use the tub because of a water shortage, which would have been fine but it should be listed in the property information as a possiblity. The information on the website makes it sound like the cabin has its own private land, and its surrounded by other cabins. The owners should be more avaliable to renters for giving directions, we had to call and leave several messages before we found the place. All in all I think this place has plenty of potential, but for the price it should be absolutely perfect for a couple to enjoy a weekend. Hopefully the owners will take this review into consideration.

Owner response:You get one like this every once in awhile. They originally asked for a discount, which I declined as per our policy. When they decided to come anyway and stay three nights, I was specific (as I always am) that a GPS or Mapquest will not get you to LBR. This is also included in the directions on the website. Yet some people insist on using GPS rather than the directions provided on the web. We are not always available to be at home all day waiting for people who are scheduled to arrive, as we have other matters to attend to. Further, LBR is designed for two people. These people rented under that premise. There were more than two people at the cabin so apparently a weekend for a couple was not really the objective. The hot tub is cleaned and prepped within two days of each arrival. In fact, the day prior to their arrival the tub was refilled. We asked them not to use the indoor Jacuzzi, as this area of VA is in a moderate drought status. There are no houses that can been seen from Lazy Bear's deck, as advertised. There are 22 acres behind the house which are totally uninhabited and available to guests who want to get out and hike or explore. There is one house visible from the steps. That is hardly "surrounded". I feel that this review does not accurately represent what LBR provides to guests who are interested in a quiet mountain getaway. Most of our guests leave their comments in our written guestbook, and all are favorable. We have had many repeat guests, some returning each year for a weekend. We do our best to assure that they have a pleasurable experience.

Thank you for a wonderful time. My wife brought me up here to celebrate my 30th birthday and we had a blast. Truth be told, we took greater advantage of the technical gadgetry within the cabin than the natural beauty outside, as we watched a lot of the NCAA tournament. But, what a setting. This place is gorgeous - both inside & out. Thanks for making my big 3-0 a memorable one.

When we first arrived it was dark outside, however we saw such beauty in it just as it was. We walked in and talked about how cool it was, and pondered on all the beauty inside, but when we woke the very next morning, and saw the beauty as we looked out over the balcony we were in awe...This was a surprise birthday gift to me and it was so much more than just a surprise. The beauty & the entertainment that we found just relaxing, taking everything in, and most of all just enjoying the company of each other. Everybody's life gets so hectic at times, and just being together kicking back was finding the real beauty in life. We will be back....

We're back! Thanks for such a wonderful Valentine's weekend. We enjoy so much our relaxing time here. This was our first trip in the winter and the view of the valley was absolutely breathtaking. The lights looked like jewels in the night. With 3 children, my wife & I have learned to appreciate the quiet time together, and the Lazy Bear allows us to do just that. What a joyful memory you have helped us to create. As the moon shone down on the snow, it gave an image of sparkling diamonds. The view is awesome! Love the plasma TV. I'll have one soon after watching this for 2 days. This place is first class. Who would ever have thought you could be home at your computer and with punching a couple of buttons find a place like this and then go there. This is a perfect place, it's about 20 degrees outside. We'll be back to see what it's like when it's warm. Everything works and it's better than the website makes to out to be.

Jackpot!!! We found this place on the internet while searching for a quiet, romantic and nearby place to celebrate our 13th anniversary. Like everyone else who has written in the book, we were impressed with the slice of heaven here in the midst of this peaceful, tranquil environment. If you're looking for a great meal with an atmosphere every bit as intimate as this cabin, you must visit the Wolf's Lair Restaurant in Dobson, NC. We plan to return!

We were looking for a vacation spot and we found a nice one. We are dairy farmers....after milking 50 cows twice a day it was time for a change of scenery. The view from the deck was outstanding. We also enjoyed the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We have had such an incredible time hiking, taking awesome pictures, releaxing, exploring the towns and shops, eating, and sleeping. As the first guests to stay here, let us welcome you to Lazy Bear's Rest...We were awed by the deck & view before we even went inside. Upon entering, we were amazed at how beautiful the interior is. And there are so many special treats to be discovered - a hike down to Lazy Bear Falls or a picinic at Covered Bridge.....We're already planning our return vists.
