  Really enjoyed my week in this condo. I must say my favorite place was the huge balcony; great place for morning coffee and paper. The location just two blocks off Duval couldn't be more perfect for walking to everything. Had the pleasure of meeting both Jean and Lowell, and they were both just delightful! I will definitely stay here again!

  Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

  We had a wonerful time in Key West and the condo was perfect for the 2 of us. We could walk to almost anywhere. Very clean, quite and well maintained.

  Wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay in the Island Escape condo.  Everything was in perfect order and very clean. Our stay was so comfortable.  We really didn't want to leave.  It was great meeting and talking with you and will definitely stay again.

  My wife and I had 2 fabulous weeks at the Island Escape. The condo is very clean and has everything you need , it's cozy and it's really feels like home. The balcony is huge and located between the palm trees. Perfectly located and from walking distance to old town and the beach, a few minutes to Duval and Mallory square , also close to the Hemingway house (my favorite hang out ). The pool is a few steps away and a very nice. The bus-stop is close by and for just 2 $ you can go to the shopping mall (Key Plaza), take the Orange route and get the schedule on the bus, simple. Don't forget the happy hour at Alfonso (old harbor) relax with good food (oysters / clams) and a cool beer. We had a great time and were satisfied about the Island Escape, hope to come back one day.

  Clean, well maintained, nice size, kitchen with all needed appliances, great outdoor patio and community pool.

  We stayed here for a week and were sad to leave. The place was perfectly located close to all the action but far away so you had peace and quiet. Jean was very helpful and found us a deal on renting bicycles for the week where we were only charged half price. The condo was spotless and had everything you needed: linens, towels for showers and the beach, paper towels, tissue, detergent, soap, etc. We enjoyed all the local food and music. Smokin Tuna had amazing seafood, music and the bartender Michael was great! Willie T's also had wonderful food and music. We talked with locals to find other hidden gems and it paid off. El Siboney (spelling?) is a local favorite that is always packed but worth the wait. We also did a snorkeling and sunset cruise through Fury. We were gone for 3 hours and had unlimited beer, rum punch and champagne on the way back. The cost was only $40 and it was perfect! Fort Zachary beach is basically in your backyard although I recommend riding a bike instead of walking. Reviews on Yelp contain a lot of complaints about the "rocky beach" but WEAR SHOES! The water and wild life are beautiful. We went snorkeling there several times. We met the woman who cleans the condo as we were leaving and she was excited to hear about our stay. We told her we would definitely be back!

  I visit Key West often 4-5 times a year. This is first VRBO rental. Listing is accuratly shown, very clean, owner goes over and above to help/assist, very easy to reach and talk with. Huge lanai..helps if you are feeling it maybe too small...it isn't. Location if you don't know KW is one of the best for walking old town. Changes in Petronia st during recent years gives you awesome restaurant and shopping choices within two blocks...including Blue Heaven, La Creperie and others.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

  Arriving to the Island Escape immediately put us in the Key West state of mind. Beautiful and comfortable accomodations decorated in a tropical flare even added to the experience. The accomodations were spotless and true to the pictures and description listed on the website. The spacious balcony overlooking a tropical setting was extremely pleasant and relaxing. The most pleasant aspect of the accomodations were the close proximity to all things "key west". All major attractions, night life, water sports and beach were only footsteps away. The owners Jean & Lowell were extremely attentive to our needs and a wealth of information regarding everything on the island. We highly recommend a vacation at the Island Escape and we plan to return!

  We really enjoyed our stay in Key West. Conveniently located with a great pool. The decorating was outstanding. Beautiful porch and view of trees and flowers. The wood floors were so dirty our feet were black from walking on them. There were ants in the kitchen and bath. The bathroom needs updating. It was moldy in the shower and outdated. The blinds are not dark enough. The sun blinds you when you wake up in the bedroom. I would love to stay again with these changes.

  Owner response: Thank you for your review Susan. Key West does have it's challenges with ants. We supply ant traps but they sometimes don't get utilized. With the rainy season they tend to want to display themselves. In talking to other residents they are also frustrated. The wood floors are generally very clean, I think what you were experienceing is the white fly residue that Key West is also challenged with this season. We noticed it when we visited last. We just remodeled the bathroom and kitchen in May. We will however, inspect for any subsequent mold that may now exist.   This was our first visit to Key West and we couldn't have been happier with our stay at the Island Escape. The location was perfect - although we had a car we walked everywhere from the condo. The owner Jean Kemp was very helpful and prompt with reponses I posed. The Truman Annex is definitely a great location to stay and we will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

  We had a fabulous stay at Island Escape Condo! It is a cheerful and cozy space that was just perfect for two people. One of us enjoyed the sofa couch and the other had the bedroom. There are TVs in both spaces so you can stay up late watching TV or go to bed earlier, if you want. The HUGE balcony is great for drinking your morning coffee, having lunch, hanging out, and enjoying your evening wine. It is a 2nd floor end-unit so you enjoy a sense of privacy but have a wonderful view of lush foliage. It is in a pefect location in the complex. It is both close to the pool and close to the complex exit. We had a wonderful time at the pool and it wasn't overcrowded. Not too many kids and they were well-behaved. The water temperature was perfect and it felt good on a hot day. The location of the Shipyard/Truman Annex Condos is a quick walk to Duval Street and an easy walk to other Key West attractions. We didn't need a car at all. Cabbies and delivery personnel all know the facility so it was easy to order whatever we wanted. There is a washer and dryer. I took home clean clothes and didn't have to do "vacation" laundry when I got home.

  Excellent!!!!!!!! Was NOT disappointed (although I knew we wouldn't be). Have rented many properties in the Truman Annex and this one was AMAZING! Wouldn't change a thing. Great place to stay and great people to rent from. Thanks again and you'll be hearing from us when we plan our next trip!

  John and I were very happy with condo, it was a very nice, clean and had everything we needed. We loved the deck for just hanging out. Location was also very good with walking distance everywhere we wanted to go and really enjoyed our stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful condo.

  I wanted to drop you a note letting you know how much my husband and I enjoyed staying at your condo in March. It was a perfect fit for the two of us. We really enjoyed the large balcony and the friendly neighbors. It was a great location for us to bike to the beach or stroll to Duval for dinner. Most importantly, the condo was spotless.
