Hayward house description
Our two bedroom lakefront home is located on Chief Lake of the famous Chippewa Flowage. Down the road from Chief Lake Lodge and Pat's Landing Resort managed by Treelands Resorts, this home is ideally located for 4-season fun -- far enough away from town to enjoy the wilderness setting that the Chippewa Flowage is famous for, but close enough to walk to several lakefront restaurants.
Summer 2014 is booking up fast -- mostly with repeat renters that come again and again -- but there are several weeks available in late May, Early June, August, September, and October. Both are beautiful times of year, fishing is great and the scenery is great. Warm days and cool evenings make sitting around the fire - either indoors or out- the perfect place to be.
In the summer you can swim, boat (for great wildlife and scenery viewing), tube, jet ski, land a musky, build a fire on the patio in our outdoor firepit, get your fill of bluegills or just sit and enjoy the wilderness view and peace and quiet right on the dock. Fall's a great time for walleye and musky fishing, as well as seeing the beautiful northwoods colors. And this is a great house for snowmobiling enthusiasts. Just drive down the ramp on our property out onto the frozen lake and access hundreds of miles of trails about 100 yds in front of our house.
Our northwoods home has two bedrooms, one with king-sized bed, the other with a queen and a single bed, as well as a sleeper sofa; one bathroom with shower/tub, laundry/mudroom, and all the comforts/amenities of home. We have stocked the house with pretty much everything you possibly need for a great, relaxing time in the north woods - Linens and towels/beach towels are provided for your use, along with a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy a wood fire (inside or out--logs provided) on a crisp spring or fall evening or cold winter's night.
We have a separate 'bunkhouse' available for rent for larger groups or just to spread out. Please inquire about specific rates for specific stays.
We also have a 16-ft Starcraft fishing boat, with 15hp motor available for rent too. Rate for the boat is $200 for the week during the summer months.
Resort communities of Hayward, Cable and Stone Lake are just a short drive and offer world class events, attractions, shopping, casino, golf, restaurants, and more.

Great Friends Getaway
Great Friends Getaway
We alway rent from VRBO and have had the best luck. We spent a full week at this property. We rented both the house (perfect Northwoods rental) and the bunkhouse (newer and very nice) for the additional space. We really enjoyed our time here out on the water fishing and our evenings around the firepit. You can walk to 3 different bar/restaurants in less then 1-2 minutes if you don't feel up to cooking or head into Hayward (less then a 10 min. ride). We would recommend this property highly to friends, family or anyone just looking for some relaxation.

My friend and I were looking for a place to go for some much needed rest and an opportunity to recharge our batteries. We arrived at this two bedroom home on the beautiful Chippewa Flowage and were greeted by whispering pines, colorful birch and the song of the loons. The knotty pine interior was the perfect complement to the "up north" decor that flows from room to room and provided the perfect tonic for a calm and peaceful three days. If we didn't feel like cooking we walked out the back door and were just steps away from great food and drink. The very comfortable beds provided the solid nights sleep we were craving. The house is meticulously maintained and it is apparent that the owners take great pride in there vacation home. If you are looking for a genuine "up north" retreat where you can relax, sleep, read, nap, walk, this is the place for you.

Owner response: Terry - thanks so much for the glowing comments - I couldn't agree more about the stress reduction vibes at the cabin - glad you enjoyed it as much as we do. Sue and John Dawson

Beautiful setting, gorgeous views. This house was everything and more than expected. The interior has new flooring that adds to the warmth. The best for relaxing and boating and shopping in Hayward, close enough to everything. We sat on the patio and watched the sun rise while having our coffee, wonderful! The guys caught fish right off the dock and in open water. Loved It!!! Would definitley go back.

We had a wonderful vacation here in August. It is so comfortable with many nice amenities. Peaceful evenings around a fire, gazing out over the lake rejuvinates the soul. The choices for places to fish is amazing. Everyone including the dogs had fun. It was hard to leave! Can't wait to return this winter again for snowmobiling. Thank you!

This is a wonderful lake cottage with a spectacular view. Our family shared this rental with another family we have travled with for years and we agreed this was one of the best vacations in the great north woods we have had.A truly wonderful cottage.

We all had a great time. You have a very nice and cozy cabin. We couldn't seem to find the walleye, but had not trouble filling up on the bluegill. The weather was great. Janet wrote a few events down into the guestbook about our adventures. Thanks again for the use of your northern home.

We love visiting this Chippewa Flowage vacation home! The views are awesome out the dining and living room windows. The home is very comfortable with plenty of room for our family of 6. The fieldstone fireplace in the living room is great on those cool northwoods nights. The kids can swim in the lake just down a short slope from the cabin. If we don't feel like cooking there's a nice family restaurant at the lodge next door just a short walk from the cabin. We plan to stay here on our next

About the owner: My husband John grew up vacationing on the Chippewa Flowage in the 1960's. While a lot has changed, the wonderful wilderness feeling of the lake and our cozy cottage on Chief Lake of the flowage reminds us of those carefree days. Now, 3 generations of Dawsons and our family dogs love to be together at the lake. Whether it's winter or summer, spring or fall, we love every season. Seeing the cabin and the lake and all its wilderness wonders through our grandsons' eyes makes this home truly special to us. We love to have guests and have many that now return year after year to stay with us. We hope you can join us and experience it too.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Whether it's reading a book by the fire or on the dock, roasting marshmallows in the outdoor firepit, fishing off the dock or looking for new 'secret spots' with our grandsons, snowmobiling in the winter, or just sitting in the living room in front of the fireplace and watching the snowmobilers go by at night, playing cards or watching a movie, hiking through the woods or shopping on Hayward's Main Street, or trying our luck at the Casino -- there's plenty to do (or not do). The lake and wilderness are very quiet and peaceful, but there are a few lakeside restaurants nearby for a quick lunch or dinner if you like.
