Had a ladies getaway with 10 good friends and this house was perfect! Plenty of room for everyone with room to spare. The kitchen is stocked with very high end appliances and extras such as a garbage compactor and warming drawers, convection oven as well as a standard oven. The bedrooms are all emaculant! Loved the heated floor in bathroom with the spa tub and walk in double shower. The grounds were beautiful! We had a fantastic time and will go back again very soon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Holy wow! We were a group of 8 people, three couple and two singles. The sleeping arrangements were the only thing that we might change if this were our home. It was odd that the master had two double beds rather than a king for one couple. We all would have been fine with one or two convertible couches in the living rooms and some privacy for some in our party. That being said, this was one of the most lovely and well cared for homes I've ever seen. There was so much room to sit and read, relax, cook, do puzzles, work (some of us HAD to...), and eat indoors and out. The property is nicely protected from the high winds you might get ON the beach. There are so many inviting spaces to just sit alone or with a partner or friend. Also, lots of room to gather as a group. We cooked every meal in the home and were astonished at the amount of and quality of the kitchen utensils, pots, pans, tools, service items, etc.... We had everything we needed and we baked, cooked, and barbecued. I could LIVE in that master bathroom. Wow. It's my dream bathroom. A spa within a home, really. I can imagine that a family would LOVE to share this home. Kids can have their own space to watch movies or play. Parents can have some privacy and quiet in their own "wing". It was so quiet up there, even when others were up and around. A few touches we loved: heated floors in the master bathroom and shower, television over the hot tub, large serving trays in the kitchen, wi-fi, great towels, very nice sheets, the wine cellar, the patio off the master bedroom, large closets, fantastic barbecue, fire starters and firewood on site, good quality comfortable furniture, popup vent behind the stove, printer and paper, TONS of books to read, and so much more. The grocery store at the bottom of the hill (IGA) has great selection. We had a lot of dietary restrictions in our group and were able to find things like coconut milk, soy milk, gluten free items, lots of fresh produce, etc. Very reasonably priced, too. It's a long drive to the casino. If you might have a couple of drinks, remember that there are cabs in Lincoln City that are also very reasonably priced. We have already decided that this will be our home away from home whenever we need to get away for a long weekend. It's just perfect. Mo's is the best place for chowder and it's very close. There is also a lovely 'blow your own glass float" place right at the highway intersection near the home. Have fun and enjoy the home!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

While the photos captured our attention, they don't begin to show the attention to detail in this incredibly expansive secluded family and pet friendly vacation retreat! Before I give away location secrets... let me urge you to rent the ENTIRE HOUSE rather than a single room. Perfect for a family gathering, wedding, reception, anniversary, or reunion... this property is one-of-a-kind and definitely a travel writer's dream! Only a mile from Lincoln City, yet so far removed from anything... Schooner Creek Retreat is more than 4,000 square feet of overwhelming custom design by folks who obviously like a bit of mystery, luxury, fun and comfort combined! Figuring out how to let the kitchen drawers close themselves "the rest" of the way; pushing on bookshelves to reveal a hidden and elaborate wine cellar (well stocked on trust which simply amazed me), and watching the jetted spa tub blow dry itself when finished were just a few of the unexpected delights of this vacation. Two living rooms separated by an expansive, elaborate and amazingly well furnished kitchen (if only we'd known what all we didn't HAVE to pack...) everything designed for making sure guests truly get away as intended! Most of the home is decked with lots of cool outdoor seating areas, an outdoor fireplace (wood provided) as well as a double-sided gas fireplace in one living room and outside with cedar deck chairs. The hot tub is on the front deck overlooking the 5 green acres, wooded forest, rambling Schooner Creek across the road an the vast display Mother Nature provided most hours of every day. We had front row viewing of a herd of elk, some deer, squirrels, Canadian geese, and watched a bald eagle hunt, capture and devour a whole goose right before our very eyes. The handy sets of binoculars provided made it extra special. Take the family. Take the dog. Take your time, but do rent the entire house. While they have it established where you can rent it by the room, I would not do that. All rooms are open to the common area. And... while you'd never know you have company, you should know there is an onsite caretaker living in the mother-in-law quarters behind the big house. Books, games, lots of televisions, fireplaces, spas, and cooking facilities... this is a great place to recreate and truly feel a million miles from nowhere. When considering the quality of amenities, the rental pricing for the entire house is more than reasonable. Hey! It's for rent OR for sale!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
