The Bear broke out his snow gear for a fabulous stay at this GREAT East Vail mountain home. As if the beauty of Vail’s wintery wonderland was not enough, the Bear was VERY impressed with many aspects of this home, particularly the open kitchen and living areas which made both early morning pre-ski and early evening après-ski time together so much fun. Each unique bedroom with its own bathroom, two of which have loft spaces, provided adequate sleeping and bathing privacy for the Bear and his friends. The Bear loved walking out the front door, walking less than 3 minutes to the bus and riding 10-15 minutes to Vail Village, exploring Vail mountain on his snowboard, and partaking in Vail’s nightlife including dinners at Game Creek and La Bottega and watching music legend Roy over at the Marriott lounge sing his favorite tunes. When the Bear took a day off from hitting the slopes, he read his book in the living area gazing at the beautiful white mountains, played chess with friends, sat in the hot tub to rest his Bear paws, and cooked his favorite dish of turkey tacos. The owners made the Bear feel so welcome with all of their suggestions and by ensuring that all amenities were just right for their guests. The Bear was even greeted by the neighborhood fox Cleo and they became great friends over leftover bacon! Many many thanks to Richard and Emily for a great stay!

We had a great time in Vail and your home is very nice and comfortable. We loved coming home from a day of skiing and jumping in the hot tub! The shuttle is very close and we barely needed a car during our stay. I love to cook so the kitchen appliances were perfect and I had everything I needed and more. The bedrooms were very comfortable too. Thank you so much! Our special event was seeing Cleo come up to the porch to visit us. She is very pretty!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

This home served perfectly for our recent ski trip in mid-January 2013. We had 5 guys come out although the home could have easily slept at least 3 more guys, with each person having a bed of their own. The home is very clean, well-kept, and has all of the needed and nice-to-have amenities (hot tub, multiple bedrooms/lofts/bathrooms, heated floors, big flat screen TVs in practically every room, grill, multiple patios/porches, etc.). Location was great too as it was just a very short flat walk (less than 100 yards) to the nearest bus station for the East Vail line - after boarding the bus we were generally in the main Vail Village in 10-15 minutes!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My first trip to Vail and very glad I had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home. Less than 10 minute shuttle ride away from Vail Village made it easy to get around and shuttles ran until 2am. More than enough space and accomodations for the 4 of us. There's actually enough space for 3 families. Everything is upkept nicley. Absolutely no complaints. Owers are awesome to work with as well. I highly recommend staying here if you have the chance when visiting Vail. Will not be dissapointed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Who needs a car when you're in Vail! The CME shuttle brought us to our mountain home where we rang in the New Year by cooking a delicious family dinner in the well appointed kitchen. Definitely a cooks kitchen for you foodies out there! We sat around the large table, feasted, then played games with the kids. Such a great way to start the year, family style! Access to skiing was easy. The bus stop was a very short walk from the house. Vail mountain speaks for itself, but I must say returning to this house with it's own hot tub after an amazing day on the slopes was a super way to finish the day! Our experience there was delightful. We're already planning our return for next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I have a 3 month old and wanted to get up to the mountains for the first time since our son was born for a ski weekend. We headed up with another couple with a 4 month old and a single friend of ours. We searched VRBO for homes and found this property appealing for many reasons. This was our first time renting on VRBO and I was very impressed with the ease of the rental process and how cordial and accommodating the owners were. We were even more impressed when we arrived at the home and discovered how accurately the home had been promoted on VRBO. The directions made it easy to find the home, even in the dark. The only surprise was just how STUNNING the home was. The finishes were all high-end. The floor plan was well thought and very functional for our needs. We were also surprised at how impeccably clean the home was and how well cared for and "new" everything felt. With two infants, having a clean and tidy condition was very important to us. The kitchen was VERY well stocked with dishes, glasses and pots/pants/utensils for cooking. The living room was gorgeous with beautiful views, cathedral ceilings, and a stunning fireplace. The garage was a nice perk. The private hot tub was nearly new and really came in handy to help ease our sore muscles after long days on the slopes. We never used our cars over the three days... the bus stop was steps from the front door and it was just a few minutes to Vail Village. With buses coming every 15 minutes until 2 am daily, it was more than convenient. We will be visiting Vail again soon and can't wait to stay at this beautiful home again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We arrived at this lovely mountain home in Vail on Christmas Eve. Our stay was excellent and so was the snow. The home was very accommodating, with ample room for me my parents and several friends. The hot tub is a must for after the mountain or in the morning. The inside of the home is beautifully redone and is a perfect mountain get away. The bus picks you up right at the end of the driveway and makes for easy transportation to rest of Vail. And I can't forget to mention the heated stone floors which make the cold winter mornings seem not so cold. Our Christmas here was perfect, we’ll be coming back. I too recommend this property. :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed here for five nights just before Christmas 2012. A great cabin feel with top-of-the-line amenities and appliances - feels like home! The kitchen is stocked with every cooking item anyone would need to prepare a full holiday feast. We did it! With 3 bedrooms, two lofts and an open multi-level floor plan, this is a great place to entertain. Everything was as advertised and there were no surprises. We hung out in the kitchen playing games and having good food and conversation many nights. And to top it all off, it is a stone's throw from the bus stop to Vail for skiing or shopping with a nice hot tub to come back to. Don't stress if you don't leave the house though, it's that relaxing! And from what I am told, it is surrounded by 6 hiking trails for summer fun (or snowshoeing!). "Bighorn Lodge" cabin is definitely the perfect vacation getaway. We will be back and we would recommend this home to our friends.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Summer Reunion in Vail

We traveled here with a mixed group of friends from around the country for a reunion. We planned to bike, hike, fish and enjoy the town of Vail. All of us love the outdoors and the mountains. We normally go to Lake Tahoe, San Diego or Palm Desert for a Summer trip. This year we tried something different, the Rocky Mountains in the summer. We had the best trip ever! Over 9 days and we didn’t repeat an activity, we hiked, biked (downhill, mountain and road bike), we golfed, went rafting, fishing, took the gondola up to the top of the mountain and explored the surrounding towns. Most of this was done without a car! We loved this property. Everything we needed was there. The Town of Vail Pitkin Creek Bus Stop is at the end of the driveway – 100 yards max. 4 bikes are at the house for guest use. The Vail Golf Course is less than 1 mile away. Gore Creek is right across the street and Pitkin Creek is adjacent to the home. A friend had his fly rod along and he fished each morning. There are 6 trailheads all within one mile of the house. We hiked the Pitkin Creek trail that parallels Pitkin Creek 5 miles up to two waterfalls and Pitkin Lake and camped the night. This was an unforgettable experience and something we will do again. We BBQ’d on the gas grill on the outside deck next to the kitchen and then ate outside on the large deck off the living room with views of Gore Creek and the East Vail cliffs. After long hikes and bike rides, we took a long soak in hot tub. Massaging jets are great! Even though there were 5 of us, others could have joined us. There are plenty of beds, bathrooms and extra pillows. The house never felt crowded. We had 3 cars and there was plenty of parking. I have always come up to the mountains in the winter and this was my first big summer mountain trip in years. We had as much or more fun this trip then we did on our last big Winter Ski trip. Thank you - Katie, Brian, Richard and Emily for the use of your home. We will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I'd say the reviewers here have been right on target, but I will add a few things. Our stay here was after Thanksgiving, a guys getaway after the holiday. We hadn't really considered places outside the Village before, but decided to try something new this year. I was really impressed with the ease in which we were able to get to and from the Village. The bus line is basically right outside the door and it's a very short ride into town. That was my biggest fear of staying outside of town, but it really did work out great. The place itself is very nice. The pictures don't really do justice to just how much space there is inside. We had six adults and there was room for plenty more. Three separate bedrooms, each with their own private baths. Two bedrooms have additional sleeping lofts (we didn't need them with the six people we had). It was really great having everyone stay at the same place yet not feel cramped. As has been mentioned, the place has been recently remodeled, so it doesn't lack for any amenities. The owners were great to deal with and very accomodating. Comfortable beds, modern kitchen with everything you would need and an extra refrigerator in the the garage filled with beverages added a personal touch. The beverages are on the "Honor System", just restock sometime before you leave, but it was nice to have something there when we arrived as opposed to making a run to the store after a long drive. Great touch! Overall we really enjoyed our stay here. Beautiful place, owners were great to deal with and the ease of access to the Village really surprised me. We will defintely be staying here again and would recommend it to anyone - families, singles, etc. I'm just glad I found it and thanks again to the owners.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Great Family Spring Break in Vail

We spent spring break 2012 at this wonderful property in Vail. The photos don't do the property justice. Everything is new, clean, beautiful and comfortable. Our family and two others, totaling 6 adults and 6 kids from 10-14 spent a fantastic week enjoying this fantastic property and all Vail has to offer. The property itself accommodated all that goes with a group this size and comfortably slept all 12 of us. There are 3 bedrooms each with its own private bath and a powder room to boot. The beds were new and comfy with premium bedding. There was a wonderful country style table in the dining room that could handle all of us at the table at one time. We spent countless hours in the kitchen and around the table boasting about the great skiing and planning the next day's events. The brand new kitchen had everything we needed. Although we did explore and enjoy several of the excellent dining options in Vail, we also had several meals at the house. Each bedroom had a flat screen TV as did the living room. The Wi-Fi worked great. At the end of the day, when coming back from the slopes, the garage offered a great place to store the skiis. It had mountain bikes to ride and even a refrigerator for that all important "post ski" adult beverage. It was great to have the parking for our cars but we rarely needed them. The Vail bus stop is a flat walk on pavement about 50 paces from the end of the driveway on Bighorn Road. It takes you right into the center of Vail Village. The best part is it is free and the kids were able to navigate around town on their own with ease. In addition to great skiing, we also were able to enjoy much of what Vail has to offer. It is truly a magical place. We attended a concert, went ice skating in Vail Village, went to movie; enjoy all types of dining options. The girls loved the shopping too. I have been to Vail several times but never had an experience like this one. If you are planning a ski vacation, you certainly would not be disappointed with this property. I almost forgot. One of my favorite features of the house is the hot tub. It was the perfect way to finish or even start the day for those weary muscles. I highly recommend this property and will hopefully be back again and again.
