Lazy Dog Ranch - Commanding Views and Tranquility on 5 Acres
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Enjoy 5 acres of quiet serenity with stunning High Desert mountain views in this 900 sf mid century writer, artist, nature lover or sportsman's retreat that has been completely remodeled over the past four years. Only 4 miles to the center of Joshua Tree and close to the national park.
This charming home has been meticulously restored with warm colors, has eco-friendly stained and polyurethane sealed concrete floors, and huge picture windows with stunning mountain views. It comes with a full kitchen that is fully loaded, linens, satellite TV, DVD player and wifi internet. Make a complete dinner in your full kitchen or enjoy takeout from one of Joshua Tree's restaurants. Also has a horse shoe pit, bbq, fire ring and level groomed area for RV parking or camping.
Enjoy sitting on the porch under the huge fruitless Mulberry tree and listen as the birds come to roost before stargazing during the evenings. Common wildlife you will probably see include rabbits, quail, road runners, bats, and coyote. Perfect for a quiet weekend getaway, a weekend of rock climbing or some dual sport riding at dry lake bed about a 10 minute ride away (no riding in local area please).
Lazy Dog Ranch is a hassle free getaway, a place to gather your thoughts and a spot for relaxation and restoration.

I stayed here for a long weekend with my husband, daughter and our lab dog and had a wonderful and relaxing time. The house looks even better than the pictures, and when you get there you will find an immaculate property and a few welcome gifts as well, that are much appreciated (we got a bottle of rosé and a few snacks :-) - what a great gesture!). We got everything we were looking for: a nice place to be together as a family, stars, wildlife all around us, all the conveniences of modern life and although the property is secluded, it is also very close to the town for quick runs to the market, restaurants or to visit the park. Getting there is a breeze, instructions are clear and finding the key to enter is also very easy and well-explained by the owner. We loved the fence all around the house so our dog could run freely without worrying about him wandering off, and there is a dog house outside in case you need to leave your dog alone (which we didn't do, but others may find t useful). The only thing we did miss was a DVD to watch movies (we don't watch a lot of TV). Thank you so much for a great retreat!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Lazy Dog Ranch. The house was beautifully decorated, clean, and cozy with all the comforts of home. The owner was wonderful to work with, even though we gave her only two days notice. We loved the little extras, especially the goody basket. I would recommend this house to anyone heading to the Joshua Tree..Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We stayed at the LDR for only two nights. It was our first time using VRBO, and we were very pleased with how easily everything worked out. The house was lovely and clean, the kitchen was well equipped with all the tools and spices we needed for cooking, and we liked the location - remote but still very close to a nice little coffee/breakfast place, with the national park just minutes away, a Von's down the road, and Palm Springs within half an hour. All in all, perfect for a getaway vacation for a couple. We'll certainly consider returning and spending more time here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Lazy Dog Ranch offers a wonderful alternative to soulless resort vacations and boring hotels. It is a comfortable, cozy and spotlessly clean home, decorated with artistic touches, and set in the comtemplative atmosphere of the desert. We appreciated the accurate description and photos, the owner's helpful answers to all our inquiries, and the charming vibe of this home. The jackrabbits were quiet morning visitors, and the beautiful surroundings afforded us exactly the peace and healing that we needed. Nearby Joshua Tree National Park is a treasure of hiking trails, beautiful rock formations, birds and wildlife, oases and other striking natural attractions. Groceries and pharmacies are accessible via a short drive, as are many restaurants and health food stores. A wonderful spot away from all the noise, where you can see the stars in the night sky, hear the wind's song and gaze into the greatness of the universe. You'll feel as comfy as if you were in your own home, and emerge rested and happy! I highly recommend it: we came all the way from Canada and I would do it again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My husband and I spent a week at the Lazy Dog Ranch. We found this home a perfect place to call home base for our hiking days in Joshua Tree National Park and Palm Spring Indian Reservation lands. the house is perfect for a couple or small family. The master bedroom bed was comfy and had a heated mattress pad which helped on those cool evening and morning days. The is satellite TV and WiFi. The is a washing machine but no dryer-- not a real concern if you are on vacation and do not plan on doing loads of laundry!! The kitchen is full of lovely cookware and adequate dishes and silverware. The house is on a dirt road but not difficult to find. I liked the Von's supermarket for buying supplies. All in all a great place to spend some quiet time- enjoy the stars!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+.

Lazy Dog Ranch exceeded our expectations in so many ways - it was quiet, charming, beautifully furnished. The beds deserve a special award! And the best equipped of any VRBO that we have ever experienced - and we have rented all over the world. Lazy Dog is the perfect base camp for exploring Joshua Tree National Park - and an easy drive to Palm Springs when you need a day off from hiking.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

A friend and I escaped to Lazy Dog Ranch as a vacation inside a vacation from the business of L.A. during the holidays. It was everything we were looking for. Immaculate and comfortable. Beautiful and serene. I appreciated all the carefully chosen and personalized artistic touches that made the experience more intimate - exactly why we didn't stay in a hotel. My only complaint is we enjoyed the home so much, we spent less time in the park then we'd intended. Oh well... there is always next time. We've agreed to make a visit to Lazy Dog Ranch an annual part of our holiday vacation.Recommended for: Girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We loved this place!! 4 of us (2 couples) stayed here 2 nights over a long weekend and thought it was just perfect! Great price for a sweet, lovingly-restored little home (pics do not show how really lovely it is). Everything was clean, considered, and comfortable. Sylvia was on top of everything from the moment I contacted her, which was fantastic. Beds were comfy, kitchen was great-- plenty of dishes and cooking utensils; we cooked on the stove and grill and both were super clean and worked great. Coming from Los Angeles we loved how dark and quiet it was at night! We visited the Integratron and Joshua Tree National Park, both very close by and easy to get to. We all agreed we would definitely stay at Lazy Dog again and would absolutely recommend it to others. No hidden fees and we got our deposit back very promptly. Everything about this place and its owner is just GREAT!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Had a great 2 night stay at LDR over New Years Eve weekend. House was very clean and comfortable and quiet. Kitchen has all the right tools and is well stocked. Sylvia set out a very nice welcome basket (nice touch!) and she made renting a breeze. Close to Joshua Tree park entrance and Pie for the People, which is a must try for authentic NY pizza. Our 2 Min Pins loved the fenced in yard and we all enjoyed hanging out by the fire pit under all those stars. Only wished we stayed longer and will be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, pet owners, adventure seekers.
