We stayed at misty wood over Christmas 2012, we enjoyed the jacuzzi very much and the gas log fireplace,do to the temperature in the 20's and 30's most of our stay.Cabin is cozy but could use some updating. The driveway was exciting the first couple of times and then you get used to it.Overall would recommend.very short distance to everything in Gatlinburg and the park.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

A wonderful place to getaway from everyday life. A beautiful place to stay and well kept. We really enjoyed the quiet mornings with coffee on the balcony listening for the wildlife and birds. I recommend this chalet highly. The owners are so wonderful and helpful and answered all the questions we had. Will look forward to staying there again. We enjoyed the Dixie Stampede & Dollywood. Even played Fantasy golf with our granddaughter for her first time. Visiting Cade's Cove was a treat since we got to see a bear.Mel's Diner was an enjoyable place to eat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Misty Woods offered everything we were looking for in a vacation in the mountains. It was near all the attractions and downtown Gatlinburg. The most important was the serenity of sitting on the porch and enjoying the beauty. The momma bear and three cubs visited us the day we were packing up. That was an adventure.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Terrible place to rent!
Terrible place to rent!

First off the thing we noticed right away was the awful drive that was covered in limbs and made it really difficult to even get out of the car, everything looked very unkept on the outside. When we went inside the cabin looked clean but then we noticed all the cob webs and spiders everywhere! Above the cabinets in the kitchen, above the beds, even in the showers! The first night there the hot tub got hot, after that it wouldn't get more than luke warm :( We also had a limb fall on our car and dent it and after letting the owner know about the rotten trees above the drive that needed to be cut back, I was told that the trees belong to the county not him so it wasn't his responsibility. So much for caring about his renters huh? The view was not very good either! Wont be renting this place ever again!Owner response: We feel terrible that this guest did not have a good experience at our home and only wish that we could have been able to help them while they were staying there. Unfortunately we could not because they did not tell us of any trouble until they were leaving. Gatlinburg experienced some severe storms the night that they arrived and some limbs were blown down even though they were green and healthy. I contacted our insurance company and was informed that the guests must file a claim with their auto insurance carrier. Our insurance agent said that they could not even begin to accept a claim because the trees were not on our property and that it must be filed through the auto insurance carrier anyway. There may have been an issue with a few spiders, but our cabin is tucked into the woods in a very private setting and a few occasionally get past our pest control company. I can, and will always, send my cleaners back out if a guest finds a cleaning issue. Unfortunately, I couldn't because this guest didn't tell us that there was an issue. I had the hot tub checked the very same morning that I received the guest's email. The hot tub technician assured me that the tub was working perfectly on the brand new control system that they had installed for us 2 weeks earlier. He said that sometimes guests that don't own hot tubs are unfamiliar with the controls and/or expect the tubs to heat up immediately - which is not possible. Unfortunately, our guest did not notify us of any of these issues by phone even though our phone numbers are posted prominently throughout our chalet. Instead she relied on an email sent at 1:37AM on the morning they departed (after staying for 4 nights) demanding a refund. We pride ourselves on responding immediately to any and all concerns and we have cleaners and contractors on call 24/7 to handle any issue. I have had plumbers out at 1:00am when a pipe froze and burst, and just a month ago I had an AC repairman out at 11:00PM on a Saturday night when the air conditioning wouldn't cool and he fixed it in 10 minutes. Unfortunately this guest did not give us the opportunity to fix any issues before they left even though our rental agreement insists that they call us, like our other guests have done in the rare event of a problem. I hope that our potential guests will read this, and then refer to our other 100+ reviews to get the complete picture.

We loved Misty Woods! The pictures do not do it justice. Super cute, very spacious, very private, and VERY CLEAN. Kudos to the housekeeper - it was immaculate! We have never stayed in a place this clean. Not a speck of dust to be found anywhere. We are thinking about coming back with another couple - the second entry way makes the upstairs and downstairs very private. Two homes in one! We also were very grateful that the owners do not charge additional pet or cleaning fees. The only thing that kept this from being five stars was the driveway. With the winter snow and ice it made it difficult to get in and out. We had 4WD so it was okay - but be sure and heed the owners advice re chains and/or 4WD. Overall, I would say BOOK THIS PLACE!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This vacation was a last minute getaway to the Smoky Mountains for New Years due to a cancellation....lucky us:) It was located at the "lower" end of Ski Mountain Road, but up enough to get a GREAT view and private. Easy to find, and had everything we needed for the weekend. We could get up to the ski slopes or downtown in less than five minutes. The owners were awesome to work with and very helpful. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone wanting a quiet, quaint, cozy chalet to get away from it all and head to the mountains for the weekend.....it was great for the four of us, two bedrooms and a room downstairs with a futon that would be great for small children. Didn't use the pullout, but would still have room upstairs if you had to use it.....will definitely stay there again!!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My wife and I spent the weekend for our 15th year anniversary in this great chalet. It was very charming and relaxing. We enjoyed the hot tub, scenary, and the ability to relax pretty much in private even while on the porch. We decided to stay in the chalet the entire time and had dinners brought up by nearby restaurants. This chalet is definately in mind for potential return trips!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
