We loved Misty Woods! The pictures do not do it justice. Super cute, very spacious, very private, and VERY CLEAN. Kudos to the housekeeper - it was immaculate! We have never stayed in a place this clean. Not a speck of dust to be found anywhere. We are thinking about coming back with another couple - the second entry way makes the upstairs and downstairs very private. Two homes in one! We also were very grateful that the owners do not charge additional pet or cleaning fees. The only thing that kept this from being five stars was the driveway. With the winter snow and ice it made it difficult to get in and out. We had 4WD so it was okay - but be sure and heed the owners advice re chains and/or 4WD. Overall, I would say BOOK THIS PLACE!

This vacation was a last minute getaway to the Smoky Mountains for New Years due to a cancellation....lucky us:) It was located at the "lower" end of Ski Mountain Road, but up enough to get a GREAT view and private. Easy to find, and had everything we needed for the weekend. We could get up to the ski slopes or downtown in less than five minutes. The owners were awesome to work with and very helpful. I would recommend this vacation home to anyone wanting a quiet, quaint, cozy chalet to get away from it all and head to the mountains for the weekend.....it was great for the four of us, two bedrooms and a room downstairs with a futon that would be great for small children. Didn't use the pullout, but would still have room upstairs if you had to use it.....will definitely stay there again!!!

My wife and I spent the weekend for our 15th year anniversary in this great chalet. It was very charming and relaxing. We enjoyed the hot tub, scenary, and the ability to relax pretty much in private even while on the porch. We decided to stay in the chalet the entire time and had dinners brought up by nearby restaurants. This chalet is definately in mind for potential return trips!

Spent a week at Misty Woods with wife and son. Very nice cabin with many ammenities. Comfortable and relaxing. Went site seeing and visited the outlet malls. Took many beautiful pictures. Saw a bear and got close up shots without getting myself injured in the process.

My wife and I spent a great weekend in Gatlinburg at Misty Woods. We were treated to beautiful scenery and about 5 inches of snow! The cabin was very comfortable with all the amenities of home. If we return to the area we will certainly try to stay here again!

December 7-December 11, 2009 What a lovely chalet. This is the best place we have stayed in Gatlinburg. With all the comforts of home and then some. We felt like we were in a tree house, beautiful scenery. We enjoyed the gas fireplace, hot tub, the privacy and nature in all its' glory. My husband especially loved the HOT water in the shower. The very last evening around 4:30 we saw a mother bear and two cubs. The cubs were climing a tree while Mother bear was watching. They never seemed to notice us. Too dark to take pictures, but I did. It was still too dark to see them in the pictures. That topped off our stay there. I personally loved the wifi. I took my laptop. We also had a great signal on our cell phones from our cell carrier, AT&T from inside the chalet and outside. We will definitely be back. Curt and Joan were great to work with. We stayed at the cabin over Thanksgiving break and had a great time. It was very clean and well-kept. Curt and Joan were so easy to work with and were so organized with getting directions to us, giving helpful tips about staying in their cabin, etc. The cabin is really close to downtown Gatlinburg and the roads were much nicer than the roads of other cabins where we have stayed. The cabin is situated in a nice area of Gatlinburg as well. We really enjoyed our stay and were thankful that this cabin was pet-friendly so we could bring our small dog with us.

My husband and I stayed 4 great nights at this cabin a couple of weeks ago. It was very relaxing, very clean, with lots of room. We especially loved the decks! We grilled and ate on the deck 1 night. We saw bears from the deck 3 of the 4 nights we were there...guess they didn't like the rain that was there 1 night! Thanks for the cabin!

We loved this chalet for our family vacation! The hot tub was a real treat. Lots of space to spread out. Comfy beds. Loved the decks and views. Nice new flooring and nice bathroom fixtures. We stayed at the chalet in Gatlinburg, and then headed to the Bristol NASCAR race. There were 6 adults, and we had a blast! The price was better than anything close to Bristol, and Gatlinburg was an awesome experience!! We would definitely recommend it to anyone- 5 Stars!!!

The Cabin was GREAT ,everything we could ask for ,we also enjoy the snow the last 2 days there and the hot tub. We were a little scare bacause we did not have a 4 wheel drive and no chains But the crews in the area come and scape the roads for the people on the mountain. My family and our dog stayed 4 nights in February. Great accomodations and very reasonably priced! We took advantage of everthing from hot tub, fireplace, and internet service...all the luxuries of home. The 4wheel drive they recommended was necessary because we woke up with a couple inches snow the last morning we were there. Our family definitely recommends this chalet for your mountain vacation!!!

My family of six stayed at Misty Wood for four nights right after Christmas. The home was wonderful and met all our expectations. We especially enjoyed spending time together in the hot tub. I agree that chains or a 4-wheel drive vehicle would be required during inclement weather but we didn't have any trouble, and I was driving a Astro Van. We certainly hope we get to stay here again. My thanks to Curt and Joan for making the home available.

Very nice cabin. We enjoyed a nice 3-day getaway during the Christmas holiday. The hot tub was a nice relaxation after hiking and skiing. Curt and Joan provided great hospitality, and the booking and reservation process was very easy.

Our little family of three enjoyed this home away from home. We especially appreciated how close it was to the Great Smokey Mountain National Park. The amenities were terrific, wifi, fireplace, fully stocked kitchen supplies, hot tub, view. I was worried about it not being very child proof as we had our 18 month old with us and it was very conducive to his playfulness. Its definitely true you will need chains or a 4 wheel drive to get up the mountain to this chalet. We would highly recommend this getaway to a couple, family or small group of folks. Thanks so much!

We stayed at the cabin over Thanksgiving and really enjoyed it. Everything we needed was there. We especially enjoyed the fact we could bring our dog. We just wish they would allow dogs on the hiking trails in the Smokies. We saw the bears the last morning.

We stayed for 4 days in November and enjoyed a good time. The chalet was very clean and well kept. The drivcway is a little scary for some like Julie, but can be managed. It is like a treehouse on the top deck. We also had the visit from the bear's twice. The whole rental process was very easy and Curt and Joan Young were most pleasant to do business with. My husband And I stayed at Misty Woods Cabin November 23-26 2008. The cabin was vey well decorated and had all the amenities we needed. We loved the hot tub and my husband was pleased that it had a computer and internet access. We would gladly stay again a beautiful place.The drive-way is a litlle hairy coming in and out but other than that, a great place to stay. Joan and Curt were very courteous to do business with.

Very nice cabin. Clean with all the essentials. Loved sitting on top deck in rocking chairs seeing many birds up close. Bears came close to the lower deck so we could really see them from the top deck. Close enough to town yet not in it with the noise. Nice little cuban restaurant and grocery off the main road on the mountain.

Sitting on the top deck in the rocking chairs and watching nature was so relaxing and comforting. We felt at home there during our stay. We loved staying at Misty Wood. It was the perfect chalet for our vacation. It was clean and well kept. The hot tub was great and we were so happy we could bring our two dogs with us, it made the trip even better. The area around the house is great. We had a little trouble getting in and out of the driveway, it was scary, but we managed. I can't imagine how people drive up the mountain in the winter, but I loved staying there in the summer. 7-19 We just returned from the chalet for five nights and loved it. It was minutes away from everything and fairly secluded. It was very clean and very well kept. Just returned from the chalet on 6/26 after a wonderful 5 night stay. It is so conveniently located, just minutes from "downtown" Gatlinburg and the entrance to the park. Around 8:30 we had a visit from a large bear and then another wandered up just as it got dark. Each bear walked up to lower deck to check us out on the upper deck and them climbed the hill beside the steps to continue on their way across the road. We were so excited to see them and to get a few pictures. On each occasion I spoke with Kurt, he was very kind making it so easy to make all arrangements. We highly recommend this chalet and will return again in the future. Try the white water rafting, it is great fun for the whole family!!!

This was by far the best vacation we have had. The chalet is up in mountains away from everything but just 5 minutes from downtown Gatlinburg. Seen bears in the wild around cabin about the time it was getting dark.Beautiful, hope to do this again next year.

We enjoyed staying here. The first morning there, my husband & I woke before dawn to sit in the hottub to watch the sun come up. When we opened the door to go outside, we were thrilled to see it snowing huge flakes! Later, we went into town for breakfast & people were asking us how we had an inch of snow on our vehicle. It had only snowed in the mountains - not down in town.

We just got home from Misty Wood. We LOVE the chalet! My husband and I felt really at home there, it was so warm and inviting! We only used the main floor, the bedroom was really large and well furnished. The heat worked well and the fireplace was nice. We did not cook, but the kitchen looked to be well stocked with all of the implements needed to prepare a gourmet meal. We plan to go back next fall for a long football weekend and a family vacation next winter. Thanks for having such a wonderful place to stay!

Misty Wood is a great place to stay in the mountains near Gatlinburg. You're only minutes away from the Park and Parkway, but it feels like you're in your own world while you're there. Curt and Joan are wonderful people to deal with, very friendly and helpful. We have been renting cabins in this area for several years and this was by far the easiest arrangement we've had. We highly recommend renting from Curt and Joan. This is a great cabin/house in the woods above Gatlinburg. My partner and I rented it for a week recently and it was a great place for a mountain get-a-way. It's very private, and just a few minutes from the main part of the city. I highly recommend it for a couple or a whole family.

The chalet was a great vacation for our family! the location, privacy, and clubhouses were soooo much fun that we are planning another stay before the year ends! Watch out for the black cub bear, we were able to see him early in the morning climbing down from the top of a tree at the end of the driveway, wow!
