Shoal Bay cottage will carry you away from the chaos of daily living and you will feel like you have stepped into another world. The peace and tranquility in this secluded setting is all about relaxation! The sound of the wind blowing through the pines and the aroma of the wooded areas and folliage adds to the Cottage experience. My favorite is early morning coffee on front porch with porch swing and two chairs with table. You will hear a rooster crowing and it is not uncommon to see a curious deer walk by. Springtime brings bursts of color and flowering dogwoods! Fall has breathtaking color perfect weather. Road to cottage is paved except for approx. 2 city blocks of dirt/gravel road. Cottage is 2 miles from Hwy 22. My country directions - when you see entrance to Shoal Bay Park, turn right on Bayview Drive, go one block turn right, still Bayview Drive, go around the curve, up the hill and it is the 3rd mailbox on the left! 363 on mailbox.
The master bedroom has a king size bed with lamps on both sides and antique chair with lamp in corner sitting area, TV/VCR. The middle bedroom has a queen bed (pillow top mattress) with beautiful antique dresser and ceiling fan, reading lamp. The sun room across back of house has double iron bed and single iron bed and fan, massage chair and recliner, TV/VCR. Windows surround this room with breathtaking view of back yard with tall pines, several kinds of birds, squirrel, deer and other wildlife can be observed at various times! Hummingbird feeders and bird houses. Room has back door opening onto deck with chairs and table, as well as gas grill. Wrought iron table with four chairs and two person swing and glider in back yard near rock garden. Hammock and volleyball net. I have another twin bed available if needed and 3/4 size cot if needed. There is a full w/d in laundry room. Spacious kitchen with island and equipped with everything you could need. Small formal living room in entry way with 2 chairs and lamp, adjoins dining area with table and six chairs/high chair. Pak and Play available. I have a sectional with hidabed for large entryway when the need first arises. Den is very cozy with wood stove, comfy couch and love seat, glider chair, TV with DVD and VCR. A second 1/2 bath is planned for the near future. All beds are comfy and linens provided.
**Dish satellite has been added in den and master bedroom, both with DVR!

Excellent location for our annual event. House is very clean and the owner is very attentive to your needs. This is the second straight year we have rented - I don't know how to give a better endorsement.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: I appreciate your good review on VRBO! Thank you and hope to hear from you next year, if not sooner. Sincerely, Elaine

My friends, sisters, Mom and I had a great time while staying in Elaine's lake house. The house is convenient to town while being quiet in the country. We will certainly plan on doing it again. Elaine is a very friendly homeowner and will do whatever she can to make your stay comfortable. The only thing I would change about our trip and stay in the cottage would be to add another night or two!Recommended for: Families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you Debra for the review. I hope to see your group of fun women more this summer. I really enjoyed meeting ya'll for supper and getting to know all of you. Thank you so much for buying my supper and I was so surprised and pleased to find all the sheets washed and put back on the beds! Thanks so much, Elaine

I needed some time to relax and think. This quaint home on Shoal Bay close to Paris, AR, was just what I needed. It was comfortable, clean and very reasonably priced. The owner is a nice lady who made me a fantastic deal! Since I had my choice of beds in the home, she recommended the Queen bed. I have to say, it was the most comfortable bed I've slept in, in recent memory. I usually wake up around 6:00am, but I found myself oversleeping until around 7:00am. Very peaceful, nice surroundings in the Arkansas forest. Tall pines all around the property. Dish TV was available and the home has central heat and air.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your review. Most people write good reviews in my book at the Cottage and not on VRBO. I appreciate it. Would welcome you at anytime in the future. The Cottage was so clean, I could hardly tell anyone had stayed. That is appreciated also! Elaine

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1996
About the owner: I lost my husband last year from a long term illness and I retired from 30 years as a medical transcriptionist. I have stayed busy the last year converting my rental into a nightly rental - Shoal Bay Cottage. This has been a dream of mine and has been a challenge, but I have enjoyed it. This cottage has a special place in my heart and I hope others can feel the peace I get when I am there. It has transformed beautifully but I will always be making improvements as I am able.
Why the Owner Chose Paris:
My husband and I bought this house 15 years ago after love at first sight. After living there for a while we moved back to town (Paris). He had a roofing business and it was difficult running it from out there. Also my six grandchildren live in Paris with many activities I attended. So - the lake house became a rental; now converted to a beautiful cottage which will accomodate two families.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Fishing, walking, boating, swimming and friendly neighbors. Everything is so close, even a good home cooking restaurant as well as a store with gas, grocery items and bait. It is secluded though in a convenient location. Walking distance to the lake/camping area. Beautiful playground, well maintained. Gorgeous sunrise and sunset over the water!
