We really loved our week long stay in Kauai and especially that we lucked into finding #507 at Nihi Kai which was immaculate, spacious, quiet, and just a very short walk to the water's edge. The condo made our stay so much more enjoyable because it is so well furnished and maintained. We enjoyed the well kept grounds as well with native plants and many birds. Meals on the back lanai were magnificent and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms are nicely tucked away downstairs and our daughter delighted in having her own bathroom accessible from her room. The snorkeling off of Poipu Beach is wondrous as are the sunsets!! We found an amazing Farmer's Market right on the way to Spouting Horn, about five minutes from the condo. We would recommend this condo to anyone who is looking for a very lovely and comfortable place to stay while in Kauai!

Our family rented all 3 of Maureens condos over Christmas 2011 and loved every minute. The location is as good as you can get in Kauai and the grounds are very well maintained and beautiful. The pool is one of the few heated in the area we researched and our family loved it. The condos are clean and well maintained and the person Maureen has looking after things for her is very helpful. We were in need of a dentist while we were away and she helped us out as she lives in the area. We have already rebooked for next year and look forward to it. Will recommend these rentals any chance I get.

This condo was perfect for our family of four! It was clean, very well furnished and the kitchen is stocked with everything you might need. This entire complex is beautifully landscaped and the pool and covered BBQ area were a fun place to relax and meet other guests. It is a very short walk to the beach and there is plenty of shopping and dining nearby. The owners were very responsive and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone visiting Poipu!

My family stayed at Nihi Kai Villas for two weeks over Thanksgiving and loved it. The condo was immaculate, well stocked and perfect location. We had a garden view which was beautiful and what you imagine Hawaii should look like, Just a short walk and we were at Poipu Beach and park. Also, it was great to sit on "the wall" with so many other people to watch the sunset. And yes, we saw the green flash. The condo had great beds, great bathrooms and a large living space with a lanai to eat dinner. The condo was very well decorated and was great for our 1 year old granddaughter. Child gates were there to help with the stairs. We ate at Brenecke the first night and it was very good. Location was one of the best parts as you are really close to everything. Lihue has all the big shops about 15 minutes away. Met the owners and they were great. We would highly recommend this condo. The price was right, the location excellent and the condo was outstanding.

This condo was probably the nicest and cleanest condo I've rented through VRBO. From the minute we walked in, we loved the size, the furnishings and soon found that the linens, towels, etc were of top quality. The kitchen has been outfitted with everything you need including beautiful wine glasses (very important!). We felt right at home very quickly and enjoyed having a lanai in both front & back depending on what time of day it was. The two downstairs bedrooms and bathrooms are huge and we were very comfortable at all times. The lush grounds and pool area are fabulous & we were impressed at how well maintained the whole complex is. I would highly recommend this condo & will definitely be coming back.

Wonderful vacation spot

This condo was perfect for our group of three adults on a week-long vacation. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals at home and we enjoyed having leisurely breakfast on the lanai every morning. Poipu beach really is just right around the corner, with excellent snorkeling and bodyboarding opportunities. The location was a great as a jumping off point for short day trips to Waimea Canyon and other attractions. It was especially nice to come back and jump in the pool after a day of hiking. Maureen made booking the condo a breeze. We definitely recommend staying here!

We really enjoyed our 2 weeks at the condo. Maureen and Bruce made everything so simple in terms of instructions and logistics before we arrived. The unit was extremely clean and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare any of our own meals. There were also 2 bbq's outside in a common area about 20 yards from the condo unit, which we found handy. The flat screen TV in the main room was nice to have with over 100 channels, not that we watched much TV. There were also two smaller TV's in each of the bedrooms for those inclined to fall asleep to the TV. The Internet hookup was easy to connect to our laptop and it was nice having high speed for emails. The lanai's were outstanding and very peaceful. It was a 2 minute walk to the beach (great bodyboarding) and there were 3-4 other beaches within a 10-15 minute walk (great snorkelling and swimming). Our favorite beach was just in front of the Marriot/Sheraton. Location, location, location. We also enjoyed the condo location for some very nice early morning walks in Poipu. Catching a sunset from Poipu beach, 2 minutes away was magical. There were also tons of parking spaces in the lot close to the condo unit, once again about 15 yards walk. In terms of restaurants we really liked the Casa Amici for Italian food (50 yards from the condo unit). Also loved the Italian restaurant at the Marriot called Cafe Portofino. Roy's for seafood was also an amazing restaurant in Poipu. There is an old noodle shop in Lihue that was cheap and fantastic. We also loved the Vietnamese restaurant and Chinese restaurant in Lihue on Rice St. Our favorite excursion was doing a Napali Zodiak raft ride with the dolphins. The raft left from Waimea, which is 45 minutes drive away. The Na Pali coast and caves were breathtaking, a must see. The Waimea canyon was unbelievable, just like the Grand Canyon. Great hikes. The East coast and North coast were also very nice, but we preferred Poipu (beaches and restaurants and shopping), Lihue (restaurants), and the West coast (Canyon hikes and beaches). We had a tremendous vacation, completely hassle-free and stress-free, a big thank you to Maureen and Bruce. I would certainly recommend this condo to my friends, and have already!! We can't wait to get back to Kauai, and to the paradise of Poipu!!

My family and I just stayed at Nihi Kai Villas #507 during the first week of August 2010. This condo was great and true to the description. It is a prime location in Poipu. We recommend this unit to anyone wanting to visit Kauai. Maureen & Bruce were great to work with. We are looking foward to our next visit.

We stayed at #507 from 1/27-2/25,2010 and could not have been happier with our experience. The condo is spacious, well-equipped, and in a beautiful setting close to the beach. It was a serene and peaceful place to return to each evening from our day's adventure- hiking, snorkeling, exploring and enjoying the stunning island of Kauai. Our only complaint was our time was too short! We would love to come back again next year. Maureen and Bruce were outstanding hosts, responding quickly and efficiently to a few minor problems we had. Our first visit to Kuai was made just that much better by choosing Unit #507 at Nihi Kai Villas. My husband and I were so impressed by the beautiful, recently remodeled kitchen and spacious condo. The location was walking distance to the ocean and restaurants in the area. Everything we needed for cooking, sleeping, bathing, etc. was available to us. We would definitely recommend Unit #507 to our friends and family.

Our family (2 adults + 2 young adult children) stayed in #507 for a week July 2009. We have stayed in 3 different condo locations on the island of Kauai over the past 5 yrs. No question - Nihi Kai #507 was the loveliest and best maintained condo of the 3. The furnishings, the appliances, the cleanliness are definitely a cut above others. Location and grounds of Nihi Kai are great. An excellent value. Nihi Kai #507 is a gem in the Poipu Beach area!

We stayed at the condo for a week in the beginning of July and had an absolutely wonderful time. The condo has everything one could possibly want and the fully stocked kitchen was a wonderful surprise. We spent many hours at the pool with our 2 1/2 year old son and having the beach and playground just down the street was so convenient. We would definitely stay here again!

We arrived at your lovely home with our daughter and son in law. our daughter is 6 months pregnant and they really loved the comfy king bed set up in the guest room.Everything one could need in the kitchen was there and we had many wonderful feasts between the kitchen and barbie.We were very comfortable and couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.The gardens are an absolute joy to see and of course the location is outstanding.We hope to come back in the not too distant future...Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us....Joan

We stayed at Nihi Kai 507 May 15 to May 24. An absolutely exceptional experience. The location is perfect and the grounds immaculate. The condo has all the amenities and it was very comfortable. We stayed here for 2.5 weeks at the end of April/beginning of May. It was perfect for us and our very busy 2 year old son. It was a great location and an easy walk to the pool, boogie-boarding beach, the baby beach, and the playground. We enjoyed spotting the turtles in the nearby bay, watching the beautiful sunsets, and finding paths to go for daily runs. The condo was fully equiped and totally modern (a great renovation). It was completely comfortable right for the moment we arrived & unpacked. We cooked almost all of our meals at home and used the BBQ facilities on-site. Another added feature was the WiFi and we stayed in touch with family back home. We had an issue with the DVD player and the owner attended to it immediately, great service. Finally, the washer/dryer was well-used with the endless towels, but as a bonus, it was great to head home with clean clothes instead of a bag full of laundry! Overall a relaxing stay, I would not hesitate to stay here in the future.

We stayed in Maureen and Bruce's condo 3-21-09 through 3-28-09 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The remodel of the upstairs was absolutely beautiful. It was so nice that the kitchen was stocked with many of the spices/oil/vinegar needed for cooking. The WiFi service was also much appreciated for those of us who want to stay connected! Maureen was very responsive and accommodating. We hope to come back soon and will recommend this unit to friends and family.

My wife and I stayed at Nihi Kai from the end of January 2009 through early March, 2009. We have stayed in either unit #501 or #507 at Nihi Kai for the last 3 years. Both units have recently been beautifully renovated and to us, either is a home away from home. This year we stayed in unit# 507. The unit design is great with the main level having a nice kitchen, dining and living room (an entertainment system to rival mine at home) and two large lanais. Downstairs has a washer and dryer, two good sized bedrooms with their own TV, full bath and lanai. The grounds are beautiful (much nicer than other properties we have seen in the area) with a nice pool, flowing palms and lovely flowers. Nihi Kai is on the sunny south shore, just steps from the ocean and lovely Poipu beach. Maureen and Bruce, the owners, are always so nice and helpful(many thanks!). The way they have appointed and outfitted the condo shows their pride of ownership and good taste. Maureen and Bruce, Nihi Kai, Poipu and laid back Kauai have not disappointed us yet! If one plays their cards right, you can join the wallnuts to see those famous Poipu sunsets, whales and turtles. We'll be back!! Nat and Tim

We had a wonderful stay in Poipu and absolutely loved the condo. It is clean and spacious, perfect for our family of 4. I loved cooking our meals in the well-stocked kitchen, and with the bedrooms downstairs, our kids could sleep while we stayed up to enjoy the relaxing evenings. We certainly felt at home after 12 days, and would come back to this condo another time. The owner was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. Poipu is a great place for families, and with the "boogie board beach" at Brennekes just steps away, the kids were completely satisfied. Sunsets were also a plus, we walked down to the water each evening and thoroughly enjoyed watching the sun go down ending another perfect day.

Everything we hoped it would be! Stayed one week with another adult couple-perfect setup with bedrooms at opposite ends of the lower level, each with their own private bathroom. The condo was immaculate and exactly as it looks on the VRBO website. We cooked in the well stocked kitchen almost every day and used the gas grill several times. Pool was a perfect temperature. Very short walk to the beach where we enjoyed boogie boarding, and we're definitely not "the younger set"! Our only regret was that the bananas growing right outside our bedroom lani didn't get ripe in the short week we spent there! Highly recommend this great property.

We spent 10 glorious days at the condo in Nihi Kai in late August and loved every minute of it. The condo is located just a short walk away from the beach (a huge plus as we were traveling with our very active two year old). Having a super clean pool in the complex was fantastic as well. Restaurants and groceries are just a short drive away. The condo had everything we needed to feel right at home. We've stayed at several different locations in Poipu, from a private house to beachfront resort, and felt the most comfortble and relxed this trip. We're hoping to come back every year!

We loved our stay in this beautiful condo in Poipu! We had an absolutely wonderful vacation on this beautiful island! We stayed here with our two children for 6 nights and were thoroughly impressed with how clean and well equipped this condo was. It had everything that we needed to be comfortable and to prepare our meals. Shopping at the supermarket in quaint Old Koloa Town was very close and convenient -- the Big Save is a good store and there is a great local fish market too. Air conditioning was not needed at all since the constant breezes and perfect temperatures kept things very comfortable. Ceiling fans only added to the comfort. The climate in Poipu is pretty much perfect! The walk to the beaches and pool is very short. Poipu Beach Park is a great beach for a family. The turtles and monk seals were frequent and amazing. Staying at this condo is convenient to Waimea Canyon, Lihue, Kapaa and just about anywhere. Since the island is not large it does not take long to get anywhere. Kauai is a very happy and friendly island and we were made to feel welcome. The condo was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and easy to use. The lanais are wonderful -- especially the one off the kitchen, which was our favorite. It was a great place to have a morning cup of coffee! The whole Nihi Kai complex was very quiet and peaceful. The grounds were well maintained and beautiful. This was like staying in a high end hotel but with a lot more room and a great location. There is no question that our decision to stay here helped to make our vacation in Kauai absolutely fantastic. We happened to run into Terry who is the local contact person for Maureen. Terry has done a great job in maintaining and keeping the unit clean. She is a very nice person too! Maureen was very easy to work with and there were no issues with this rental at all. Thanks to Maureen, Bruce and Terry! We can't wait to come back!

We feel like we spent 10 days in paradise! The condo is beautiful, with a new kitchen, comfortable beds (a big plus), lots of room, washer and dryer, and the property is beautiful. As for any comments about AC, you don't go to Kauii to close doors and windows and shut out the outside. We would open all doors and windows and let the sea breezes in and never felt hot. You can hear numerous birds and even the ocean! I went with my wife and 2 kids and we all enjoyed the pool, as well as the short walk to body surf at Breneke's Beach or snorkel at Poipu Beach. We even swam with sea turtles at Breneke's Beach! The condo is a very short drive from Koloa, a good place to go in the evening for shopping or ice cream. We shopped for groceries at Costco in nearby Lihue, which saved us a bunch of money. We visited a few of the huge hotels nearby that were crowded with lots of people and we all agreed our condo was a much better place to stay. Lastly, we had no problems dealing with Maureen, the owner. Everything went very smoothly. We didn't want to leave and can't wait to come back.

Just returned from Kauai after a two week vacation! My family and I stayed in this condo that we rented directly from the owner. We found the condo to be very nice and inviting. It was obvious that a lot of care was taken to make it comfortable with recent renovations, a well appointed kitchen, nice furniture, comfortable beds, and everything was very clean. We cooked a lot of meals over a two week period and found everything we needed from cookware, dishes, cutlery, and even a stocked spice rack. The owner also was very responsive to our inquiries before we arrived providing recommendations on restaurants and shopping. The pool is great for families and is only a short walk to the beach. We also enjoyed late night walks to the beach for star watching, as well as swimming during the day. Kauai is one of our favorite places to visit; staying in this condo was very enjoyable, its in a great location and we felt right at home. We hope be back again!

My wife and I spend a week at this condo with two of our teenage children in June, 2008. We dealt directly with the owner and she was terrific; very responsive and accommodating. The condo was perfect. The grounds were beautiful, well-manicured and peaceful. The pool was attractive and very clean. The interior of the condo was very well appointed with lots of small extras that made the stay more pleasant. Condo was one minute from the oceanfront and three minutes to the beach. All in all, an excellent location and a great value.

Owner response:In an email to me Jim also made the following comment which our potential guests may like to read- "My wife is a big believer in air conditioning (I am not), but she quickly discovered that a/c is unnecessary due to the comfortable nighttime temperatures, the trade winds and the numerous ceiling fans.

We spent a week at this lovely condo from April 28 to May 5 2008. I have nothing but praise for this property. We enjoyed the lovely gardens, the great pool area from which you can see the ocean and that also has a very clean bathroon; we loved that we were able to use the gas barbeque when we wanted to eat in; the beds very very comfortable and the kitchen very well-appointed, with lots of china, wine glasses,flatware and new cookware, everything you need to make your own meals. The condo is beautifully decorated and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. The grounds were extremely well maintained, the parking lot was never full and the location itself was great, a very short walk to the beach.

Absolutely wonderful! We stayed for 2 weeks with our 2 young children and couldn't have asked for a better place. The condo came with a very reasonable price, was fantastically clean, and felt like home. The condo is in a great location -- with easy access to the beach, the pool, local restaurants, parks, and even a playground. Our unit was tastefully decorated and very very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with nice tableware/barware and even came with cooking staples like spices and olive oil. We also loved having our own deck on the top floor of the unit and having an in-house washer/dryer. Thank you so much!!
