Cadiz cabin description
'This is the most amazing property I have ever seen', Bruce S., Big Key, FL.
'This place is unbelievable!', Julie & Michael Higgins, Nashville, TN.
We enjoy seeing the visitors' reactions to this property, and enjoy showing it.
We are located approximately 35 minutes from Lake Barkley, but all our lakes are private.
We, in the past, have sought out and bought unique water feature properties, but we have never seen a property like this. It is truly one-of-a-kind!!
We have 7 beautiful lakes, 5 ponds, sloughs and creeks, as well as wetlands, on 205 acres located in the heart of Western Kentucky''s 'Big Buck Region', Hopkins County, near the small town on St. Charles.
It is surrounded by a few thousand acres of land uninhabited except for occasional hunting by out-of-state owners, and offers large deer and turkey, which we capture on game cameras every year.
-LAKES & PONDS-
The 7 lakes range from approximately 400 feet long up to over one-third mile long, with 2 lakes approximately one-quarter mile long each. They vary in depth from 4-5 feet in spots to over 30 feet deep. Some have nice gently sloping bottoms, then drop off sharply. Most are crystal clear, some are less clear. They provide a wide variety of fishing habitat, including deep clear holes, shallow lily-pad covered or edged areas, and mixed areas. Fish in these lakes/ponds include largemouth bass, rock bass, crappie white and black, shellcrackers, Bluegill, mud catfish, and channel catfish. There are some very large fish in these lakes & ponds, up to (maybe more) 10 lb. largemouth, 1 lb. plus bluegill and 40 lb. channel catfish. Some of these lakes I had to explore and find, as they & the roads to them had disappeared in the brush. Some of these fishing holes had not been fished for at least 10-15 years. I had a dozer open up all the lakes & ponds, including a large T-shaped pond deep in the woods. All lakes & ponds now have ample shore fishing areas as well as access to put a boat in. Many times these clear lakes are like an aquarium you can see dozens of fish of different size and types swimming around at one time.
Fishing is on a catch and release basis, although there will be no problem keeping some to cook on-site or take home from time to time,
The cabin is a new, well-built 600 sq. ft. open cabin, with front & rear decks, overlooking 2 lakes. It is NOT connected to internet, TV, or phone. The cabin is very nice, but we are looking to rent to people who want to enjoy the gorgeous property, and relax. The views of lakes, trees, bluffs, hills, etc are beautiful. this property offers, on-site, opportunities to fish, hunt, boat, swim, hike, camp, ride 4-wheelers, ride horses, pick blackberries or morel mushrooms, or just explore, not to mention relaxing on the deck reading one of the many books from the cabins well stocked library or looking down at Chucks Lake or Lake Amy.
You may not want to leave the property after getting groceries, there is so much to see & do. There is plenty of shopping available in Madisonville - 12 miles away, or smaller stores much closer.
We are less than one hour from huge lakes Barkley & Kentucky, and Land Between the Lakes. It is approximately 1 hour to Evansville, IN and 1-1/2 hours to Nashville, TN.
While we are not setup to accept credit cards, we would accept gift cards from Kroger, Wal-Mart, Lowe's toward payment, which you can purchase with your credit card. We also would consider a trade for useful items toward payment.

Christmas Week Escape - Joy! Joy! Joy!
Christmas Week Escape - Joy! Joy! Joy!
My husband & I stayed at the 205 acre property, 7 Lakes, for three nights between Christmas & New Years 2011. This property is amazing; it is the most beautiful scenery on a private property we have ever seen, and the owners tell us that it is 10 times prettier in the Spring-Fall. The cabin was Brand New, very well stocked, and seemed to have everything we needed in the kitchen. The cabin overlooks 2 beautiful lakes. (The Listing was Very Accurate but understated the varied and actual beauty of the property.) There are so many miles of trails with new views everywhere that hiking was a real pleasure. There is ample shopping nearby, and so many things to see at 'Land Between the Lakes'; we could spend days there alone and it is only 30 minutes away! We enjoy being on the ocean or large lake, but to have all these Private Lakes, bluffs, and trails, etc. to ourselves was wonderful! We are an elderly couple and were able to get around the property very well. Owners were Very Quick to answer our needs or questions. We Highly Recommend this property and will be Returning for Another Visit :-)

Thanksgiving Retreat~~A Real Treat~~
We enjoyed having our guests over the Thanksgiving holiday, and playing with their dog. They cooked a number of dishes that they shared with us, and were easy to please, which we tried to do especially as they were our first guest from VRBO. We hope to see them again. Buildings on the property are essentially complete, but we are always trying to improve the property!

The listing description is accurate and the photos represeent the cabin well. The cabin is very new and up to date. The owners are still constructing othe buildings on the property. They were very helpful, and quick to answer our needs (which were few and minor). We were invited to join them in their Thanksgiving dinner. Our Labrador Retriever had a wonderful time and was fascinated with the farm animals which ran about. This is a great place for hunters and fishermen. We explored the nearby towns and the Land Between the Lakes. People who enjoy the outdoors will like this place.

Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: My wife and I wanted to get away from the Las Vegas area hassles to an area with water. We have a beautiful farm on the Cumberland River in Tennessee, right by Dale Hollow Lake, but when we found this place in St Charles, KY, near Madisonville, KY, it even trumped the Tennessee property. My wife is a retired CPA. and I am a semi-retired General Contractor, and we love the outdoors and animals. We have chickens, Aracuna (lay multi-colored eggs), cutest Silkie chickens, Runner ducks, Turkey, 3 cats (1 Barn & 2 Siamese) that run around the place, Our dog, Carly, died a couple of weeks ago so we will be getting another Border Collie-short hair.....hopefully very soon :-)
Why the Owner Chose Cadiz:
We purchased this property because it is one-of-a-kind, private but close to services/shopping and we love our church here in Madisonville, KY. We live in a house here in St Charles, KY on the property near the cabin.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This cabin/property is unique in that we haven't seen any listings, offerings on-site with all the uses we previously mentioned, unless you go to a lodge or similar, open to many people at the same time, and even then they won't offer the character that this place does. and, as mentioned before, it is UNBELIEVABLY BEAUTIFUL.
