Tranquility Base...on the McKenzie River...Relax, Fish, Golf
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
From the moment you enter through the soaring Douglas fir trees in the front yard, you realize the feeling of “Tranquility.”
You are far away from the highway, and the only sounds you will hear are the captivating flow of the McKenzie River, the call of nearby birds, and the rustle of breeze through the forest.
The most memorable feature of the house will be sitting on the covered-deck...watching the mesmerizing McKenzie River flow by…so peaceful and tranquil.
The living room is a wide expanse of glass windows overlooking the beautiful river and the forested riverbank. From your couch, or chairs, you can enjoy the fireplace, or watch and hear osprey, ducks, kingfishers, and songbirds. Look downward towards the fishermen floating by who are fishing for steelhead, salmon and trout.
If nature’s beauty is not enough, there is an HDTV, a PS3, and high-speed internet for your further relaxation and enjoyment.
The kitchen is fully equipped and is situated to encourage lively conversation with family or friends, or gaze out at the forest through the front windows, or the river through the living room windows.
The spacious main bedroom has a king-size bed. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed. And, the third bedroom has 2 twin-size beds. Each bedroom has a beautiful view of the river, and plenty of comfort and closet space.
Local, skilled fishing guides can make your ‘fishing stories’ true! An Oregon State Salmon hatchery is a short walk across the street. One of Oregon’s most iconic covered bridges is just up the road. Drive across the nearby Leaburg dam to see the huge sturgeon at the Leaburg Fish Hatchery. In late summer, pick blackberries in the backyard for your breakfast, or to top your ice cream after dinner. Or, ride a bike down a quiet country lane to the pick-your-own blueberry patch, a beautiful 10-minute bicycle ride away.
The University of Oregon in Eugene is a 30-minute drive to the West. In addition to the shopping malls, there is a fantastic, leisurely bike trail for the whole family near the University along both banks of the Willamette River. Tokatee Golf Club is a 30-minute drive upriver to the East, and the 9-hole McKenzie River Golf Course is 5 minutes away. Hoodoo Ski area is about 60 miles upriver to the East on Highway 126. Side-trips to Portland, or the Oregon Coast, are a 2-hour drive.

We enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing summer week on the MacKenzie River enjoying fresh trout dinners on the deck overlooking the river, fishing at the fishing hole just a short walk up the road and at the resevoir, hiking on the canal path, afternoon golf, bike riding in Eugene along the river and exploring the covered bridges of Oregon. Wish we had time for wine tasting! Home was comfortable and quiet, neighbors friendly when we passed on our evening walks. Must reccommend the tackle shop just outside Leaburg, the young owner became a fast friend and wealth of advice on where to go to catch fish! We would love to come back another time. Thank you!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
