I stayed here with 3 fishing buddies and we all really enjoyed and appreciated the place. The place was even nicer than I imagined. Thanks so much for sharing this gem with us.

Winnie's Cottage is just as described. It is a vintage property that has been thoughtfully updated with an open and accommodating living space--cozy for two yet comfortable for more. With the exception of a microwave, the kitchen has all the utensils and conveniences of home. Both the historic downtown and local city park were within easy walking distance from the cottage. The town of Philipsburg is close to all the year-round outdoor activities Montana has to offer, and be prepared for some friendly chatter with the local businesses folks. Our weekend was just right for us and our canine pals. We definitely recommend.

We had a large group from Helena come down to stay and ski Discovery for the New Year. I was a little worried about the size just because we had a larger group, but it was more spacious than the photos make it look. We slept 12 comfortably (brought in 1 air mattress) and the detached unit is a great little getaway from the hustle/bustle of the main house. You have all you could need – small fridge, water boiler, sink, bathroom, shower. I think there was even a little cook stove / hot plate. The house is about a 10-minute walk (2 minute drive) from downtown and 20 – 30 minutes from Discovery Ski Hill. We had very cold weather and the detached unit’s pipes did start to freeze. Cindy, the owner, was on it … on New Year’s Eve, nonetheless. She was also very responsive and informative when booking. And, New Year’s in Philipsburg … one of the most beautiful celebrations I’ve seen!

I have a vrbo in Missoula (303559) and love the small, quaint town of Philipsburg. For the literary, Richard Hugo wrote a wonderful poem about this town called "Degrees of Gray in Philipsburg", and if he were alive today, would write it different. Still, the town offers a myriad of wonders, all which take you back to a place in Montana history where hardship was a living, and the comforts of life were what kept you warm and moving forward. The town reinvented has a new brewery which is a delight, and the young brew master will gladly show you the process of fine handcrafted beer; an amazing candy store, great gem shops where you can buy gravel and potentially find the sapphire of a lifetime--literally; as well as a multitude of shops...If you are a fisherman, skier, or just want to step back in time, I would recommend this place and this home. The owner, Cindy was friendly and helpful in every way. Proximity to town was the primary feature for me...As you can tell, I plan on going back! Al Zepeda

The Restored Miner's cottage was a great place to stay. The listing was very accurate. The home was very clean and had all the amenities. I loved the shower and the comfortable living room. The homeowner had a list of how tos and what was needed to do in a notebook which was easy to follow. I would definitely recommend this property to others. It would be fun to stay here and go skiing at Discovery or like we did spend the night and visit P-burg. We attended their Christmas Stroll and it was wonderful. Would definitely do this again!!

Owner response: Linda: thanks so much for taking the time to post a review. I know when I rent on VRBO I read everyone and take account of the reviews. I'm glad you enjoyed the house! Cindy

Cindy - we had a wonderful time staying at Winnie's Cottage and partaking in Pburg's Christmas stroll - a definite must do! One of the best small town parades - simply fabulous and so entertaining. The new brewery has great brews & the bbq joint is delicious. Everyone loved how you have the house decorated - so inviting, comfortable, cozy & clean. A delightful get-away. Thank you so much for offering up your lovely home.

The cottage was wonderful! Very comfy and clean! Was the perfect place for a little get-a-way with friends! PBurg was buzzing this weekend with the Christmas Stroll; but even if it wasn't, it would have been a great place to get away and visit with friends; or just spend time relaxing!!!

We have had the most respectful and wonderful renters in our house since the remodel completion in November 2011! My trepidations are gone about sharing this little jewel, no problem with dogs which validates offering it to pet owners like us. Thanks to our expanding family of travelers! We would love to see fishermen in the fall and spring: Rock Creek, Flint Creek and Georgetown Lake are a stones throw away and the magnificent rivers of western Montana are a short and picturesque drive in any direction.

We were two couples who enjoy traveling and exploring new areas. We were on our way back to Oregon after being in Nebraska; our friends drove up from Arizona. We rented the main house which was just perfect for us for a week's stay. The smaller cottage was just as cute as it could be, though we did not need to rent it. The beds were comfortable; the newly renovated bathroom very nice with plenty of nice fluffy towels; the kitchen was fully equipped; we had good wi-fi connection; and comfortable living quarters. Be sure to visit the local museum. This led us to explore several ghost towns nearby (Granite, Virginia City, and Nevada City). We spent a day in Butte learning about that mining town. The Kohrs Grant Ranch and Old Deer Lodge Prison museum are a worthwhile trip too. Big Hole National Battlefield is a nice day trip, too. You'll enjoy downtown historic Philipsburg, too. If you're here over a Friday, be sure to have a pizza at Friday's pizza, open for business only on Fridays! The candy store is a must visit. We had a wonderful week of exploring, with Winnie's Cottage as a wonderful home base. If you're traveling through Anaconda, be sure to stop at the Haufbrauhaus for their awesome broasted chicken and pasta. Winnie's has a nice big yard which our little dog, Bella enjoyed, as well as a big fluffy dog bed, too. A great city park just down the road too.

What a fabulous place to stay! The accommodations were immaculate, plenty of space for my husband and our 2 kids (they loved the bunk room!), even a playground close by! Perfect for a weekend of skiing up at Discovery and the Pizza around the corner was fabulous...will definitely go back!

Loved staying in the cozy p-burg house. There was even coffee in the fridge and a fire place! Too much fun stuff to do in one winter weekend. The skiing at Disco was great. Ice skating will have to wait until the next visit. Thanks.

This cabin is beautiful (great artwork, down comforters, custom-tile work, ), perfectly appointed (mud room, dog bed and treats, full kitchen, radiant-heat bathroom floors...), in a quiet neighborhood located just a short easy walk from downtown Philipsburg and the ice-skating rink. We were very pleased. Thank you!

Perfect place to stay for a ski vacation at Discovery! My wife and I rented the place for a large group of friend to reunite in Philipsburg and enjoy the snow at Disco. The house had everything: full kitchen, big screen TV, washer/dryer, fenced yard for the dogs, pizza place the next block over, quick walk down to the ice rink, and a heated closet to dry/store our ski gear.

This place is now my children's second home. They are so excited to go and stay with their friends for extended sleep overs! Here they know they can ski, ice skate, watch movies, walk to the Sweet Palace and be at home! Not too mention, parents are able to eat, drink and play lots of board games or our new favorite card game, Hearts! Thank you Cindy and Amy for sharing this wonderful family friendly home with us! We just love it and you!

We had the opportunity to stay at this sweet restored miner's home and were blown away! We had everything that we could have asked for and then some. Several of us curled up in the living room and watched movies in the evening. We slept in comfortable beds with butter soft sheets and woke up to heated tile floors in the bathroom and a gorgeous shower. The kitchen had everything that we needed to start our day off -- even a waffle iron (and of course, a coffee maker and all the dishes and pots and pans that we needed). We didn't need to use the washer and dryer this time but we know that we'll be back and were glad to see that they were available. The guest house was really special and even though the main house had more than enough room, we were glad to have access to the guest house where my daughter was able to have her own private space to read, watch movies well after all of us were asleep in the main house, fix herself a snack in the little kitchen and have a bathroom/shower all to herself. Being able to walk down to the sweet little main street was a pleasure. Although we didn't take advantage of it this time, we checked out the amazing, lit outdoor ice skating rink that was a few blocks from the house. We'll be back for sure. Thank you, Cindy, for thinking of everything!

Owner response: I'm so happy that you enjoyed Winnie's Cottage! All of the things you mentioned were important to me as we prepared the houses for guests; I welcome any suggestions for making it even cozier. I look forward to your next visit to Philipsburg!
