My wife and I were visiting Eugene to help babysit our 2 year old grandson at the time of the birth of our son and daughter-in-law's second child. This was our second stay at Laura House, so we were familiar with the location and excellent condition of the property. Through our own fault, we had to make changes to the arrival and departure dates of our visit. Thanks to the owner, Mara, things were easily rearranged and our stay was a wonderful one. The home is named in memory of her daughter, and the upkeep of the house and gardens reflect that love. We would definitely recommend Laura House to others seeking a quiet and relaxing place to stay while visiting Eugene.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We just returned from a weeks stay at The Laura House. In my opinion, it should be called The Laura HOME, because that is what Mara made it feel like. My husband, I, and our 8 year old twins occupied this home for a visit with family in Eugene. The kitchen is so well stocked with dishes and cookware we were easily able to host dinner at this home for our family. The decor in the house made it feel homey and cared for. Although the weather wasn't beautiful, my kids still found opportunities to enjoy the beautiful backyard. The beds were comfortable and the linens were wonderful for sleeping. We had the opportunity to meet Mara on our last day in the house and she seems to be a wonderful lady! Thank you for opening up your home to our family! We will definitely stay here again if we get the opportunity.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented the Laura House for the Thanksgiving weekend so we could spend the weekend with our daughter who attends the U of O. The house was just as pictured on the rental website. Mara had the house warm and inviting for us when we arrived. It was located in a perfect area for us to come and go as we pleased. It was well stocked with everything you could need, even though we brought a lot of things from home since we weren't sure what we would need. My daughter was sick for a good part of the weekend so it was wonderful to have the house warm and cozy for her to recoup before going back to school. We really appreciated her being able to go to her bedroom and take a nap when she needed to. Such a welcome change from her dorm room. We would definitely stay again. Mara was very wonderful to work with. Thank you again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

I just returned from a long weekend at Laur's House, visiting my grandchildren. The photos don't do it a proper justice. It is a beautiful, wonderful cottage with an exceptional, large backyard garden. Beautiful comfy beds, lots of linens, and it is very clean. In fact every possible want or need has been thought of, including UNO cards. Mara is very gracious. The location is good. Close to shopping but in a quiet neighborhood. I would highly reccomend it to anyone I know. This was my first experience with a home rental and I loved it. No more hotels for me if possible. My family and grandchildren loved it. Thank you Mara.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We traveled to Eugene with the idea of possibly relocating there, so renting a house was a perfect idea. We loved our stay at Laura House. It was everything we needed and more. The house was beautifully decorated, with lots of fresh towels and linens, plus a well-stocked kitchen. We really appreciated the wifi as well. The spacious backward is an added delight, with lovely landscaping, gazebo swing, and a gas grill for outdoor cooking. (You just don't get that extra outdoor living space with a hotel.). The house is on a quiet street so you can relax outside and hear nothing but birds and possibly a squirrel. Location-wise, it's only a few miles to "everything" in any direction: downtown, lakes, University of Oregon, parks, shopping, etc. And there are two supermarkets/shopping centers within a mile. Having our car was convenient, but I think a bike or bus would work, too. We'd love to return to Eugene and stay at Laura House again. It really was our home away from home and we enjoyed all it had to offer!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I rented Laura House for 10 days in September, 2012. I was there alone half the time, and then was joined by an out of state relative for the other half of my stay. We were both very comfortable in the house and it felt like home. One day, I invited all my relatives over. There were 14 of us and it was a gorgeous day so we spilled out into the backyard. I must say that backyard was a lifesaver! It is a gorgeous and very useable space; like having an outdoor living room. Even though the house is not huge in square feet, it felt bigger than it actually was due to the nice layout and furniture arrangement. The neighborhood, though not luxurious in looks, was quiet and no one bothered me at all. Nearly my entire family is in the Santa Clara area, so this was the perfect place for me. If there is a down side to the house, it is only that the bathroom is quite small and limited in storage. But if you keep most of your stuff in your bedroom (curling irons, rollers, makeup, etc.) there are mirrors in each bedroom, which makes getting ready much easier if you have more than one person in the house. It was wonderful to have cable and wireless internet too. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. There was plenty of parking and even recycling bins in the garage. The kitchen was nicely appointed and had everything you might need to cook and bake (except maybe cookie sheets - I could not find any of those - but that was no biggy). Mara, the host/owner was great to work with and very helpful. She called first and then came by one day when I was there and I got to meet her and talk with her a bit. Very nice lady! On future trips, if this size house suits my needs I will most definitely stay there again! In fact, it's a good thing I didn't rent it any longer than I did because I was starting to feel a bit too at home. :) This is the second time I have rented a house through VRBO. I swear, I will never stay in a hotel again if I can help it! Both times have been wonderful experiences.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My daughter and I stayed at the Laura house for 6 nights. We were taking a class at the Eugene glass school. Before we had always stayed at a hotel, but decided to try a house. It was so delightful.. The house had everything we needed and is so comfortable. I felt like I was walking into my mothers home. It was so nice getting up in the morning and having coffee on the deck and enjoying the beautiful back yard. One night we invited the whole class over for dinner and get together. They loved it. Many were from out of state and were very jealous of us. Their hotel was costing them much more. We will definately be back. So pleased with whole experience. Mara was wonderful.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
