Heavenly Valley chateau / country house description
Enjoy our beautiful, newly remodeled luxury home 3 miles away from Heavenly Valley. Located off Upper Kingsbury, our home backs up to the lush woods of the Toiyabe National Forest, high (7800 ft) above Lake Tahoe (6200 ft.), with breathtaking mountain and woodland views out all of our 41 windows and glass doors.
Don't miss the virtual tour link at the bottom of the page!!!
Out-the-door access to the Tahoe Rim Trail and the Stage Coach lift to Heavenly’s Nevada side only three miles away makes our home an excellent choice for summer or winter fun, whether it is hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, skiing, or boarding.
Our home is beautifully appointed and we take great pride in creating a warm, comfortable environment for discriminating guests, with thoughtful details such as beautiful hardwood floors, Tibetan area rugs, granite and stone counter tops, and art work throughout. Please take a virtual tour at the link listed below. Ours is most definitely not your typical rental home and we would love to think of you as a return guest who treats our place with the utmost care.
Beautifully decorated and tastefully furnished in “sophisticated rustic” style, our home is 3200 sq. ft. and sleeps 10 comfortably. We have a heated 2-car garage with additional parking in the driveway and street. Our place has 5 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, a sitting room, 2 fully stocked kitchens, 3 bathrooms, 2 laundry rooms, a mud room, a dining room with a spectacular chandelier and beautiful hardwood table for 10, a central fireplace, a game room with Ping-Pong table, a 70-in. theater-style HD TV with DVD and THX surround sound, and a deck with hot tub, gas grill, patio furniture, and picturesque surroundings.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, in-suite bathroom and a 46-inflat screen HD TV with DVD. Three other bedrooms have queen size beds. The fifth bedroom has a bunk bed. There is wireless, high-speed internet throughout, with the internet connected to the 70-inch and 46-inch TVs for streaming video downloads. The built-in sound system has an iPod dock and provides multiple zones, including the back deck, that allows different entertainment for different rooms.
The wooded lot has 10 ft. boulders and nearly fifty trees, nicely spaced to provide both privacy and beautiful views. However, the rugged terrain makes our home inappropriate for children.
We are in an ideal location. Looking out our back windows, you would think you are in the middle of the wilderness. We are connected to miles of hiking trails with spectacular, panoramic views of the mountains and Lake Tahoe. Yet you have all the modern appliances and conveniences expected by discriminating guests and you are only 3 miles from the ski slopes and 5 miles from the casinos, night clubs, theaters, concerts, restaurants, stores, and beaches of South Lake Tahoe. Beach communities surround Lake Tahoe on both the Nevada and California sides. Nevada’s capital of Carson City is only 30 miles away and the international airport, hotels and casinos of Reno are only 60 miles away.

Great Birthday Getaway
Great Birthday Getaway
My family and I got to enjoy a short but very fun and relaxing birthday getaway here this Summer. Eventhough we'd been to Lake Tahoe many times before, it was still new and refreshing and such an enjoyable visit. The home is exquisite and tastefully appointed with beautiful chalet-like treasures. The layout is great, a more formal upstairs and a fun, kid-friendly downstairs, all very spacious. You can honestly stay on the property the whole time and completely enjoy yourself--relaxed and surrounded by nature, fresh air, read a book on the deck, sharpen your ping pong skills, enjoy the hot tub and gourmet kitchen, OR you can get out and enjoy all there is to do in South Lake Tahoe--we took the gondola to the top of Heavenly where we all had a blast shooting down the intertubes. Then we rented bikes and enjoyed a leisurely ride down by the lake. We unfortunately didn't get to stay very long last time, but it was honestly one of my favorite trips to Lake Tahoe because it was both relaxing and filled with neat experiences you just don't get anywhere else. It was just a wonderful retreat. I highly recommend this home and south Lake Tahoe and we will definitely be back!

Owner response: It was a pleasure to have you Dave - delighted you loved the home!
My family stayed at the property for a long summer weekend. The home is very comfortable and well maintained. We especially enjoyed eating out on the deck in the evenings (nice outdoor sound/speakers). The owners were very cordial and always available to answer questions about the rental. The house met everyone's expectations. Located fairly close to South Shore. Only about a ten or fifteen minute drive to casinos, shopping, and Lake. After a nice day on the Lake it was a welcoming property to come back to. We would definitely recommend this home to family and friends. A very nice property.

Wonderful house and stay
Wonderful house and stay
5 "mature" guys ski together the last week of Feb, chosing places all over North America. We outdid ourselves with the house at Heavenly Valley. It was beautifully decorated and appointed; 3 comfortable sitting areas, a wonderful kitchen where all 5 of us could help with fixing breakfast/dinner at the same time, a hot tub which was perfect for end of ski day relaxing and located on a great deck with beautiful views, and a great big TV for watching the Oscars. Everything was well appointed. From the house we were very convenient to Heavenly Valley, but also drove to Kirkwood, Squaw Valley and Northstar within an hour to experience an amazing variety of ski terrain. Above all, owners were very attentive to us, making sure everything was right!! We highly recommend!

Love this house!!
Love this house!!
Our family stayed here for an extended weekend. We absolutely loved this house! We stay in Tahoe at least once or twice every year and this is our favorite home so far! Everything is clean and very well maintained. They provide all the amenities you need and the surround sound throughout the house and on the deck is a great bonus. The house backs up to the forrest providing a very rustic and isolated feel. The hot tub was a joy while it snowed outside. The entertainment room has a 70" TV and was great for watching movies with the family. We do wish there was also a TV in the common living room since we had a family of 10 and the only TVs were in the entertainment room and Master bedroom. Bob and Shari were very responsive. They were also fair about the deposit telling us what we could do to reduce cleaning costs and returning everything that was not charged by the cleaning crew. We absolutely look forward to staying again!

Owner response: Thank you so much, Jordan, for the review. We look forward to your return, as well.
The home was exactly as pictured and exceeded our expectations. Shari and Bob have taken great care to ensure you enjoy your stay. They provide a binder with detailed instructions and user manuals for the various appliances and tools in the home and helpful tips of things to do in the area. We had 3 couples sharing the home so it was perfect having 3 bathrooms, but the house was very spacious so it never felt crowded. The kitchen is fully stocked with all the basics as well as tools and gadgets we have in our kitchen at home which make cooking easy. We LOVED the large screen TV’s and thoroughly enjoyed watching the Olympics and movies we rented. It may be the high altitude, but the gas grill didn’t get very hot and took quite a while to cook our meat so just be prepared for things to take a lot longer to cook. The owners were very responsive to returning emails, sending the necessary contacts and even processing the refund of the security deposit and any portion of the cleaning fee that isn't used.. We appreciate that we are only charged for the actual cost to clean the home after our stay. Usually you're charged a flat cleaning fee, regardless of how much time is required to clean the home.

About the owner: We are Bob and Shari, a young retired couple who live in San Francisco. We are both well-educated and were accomplished professionals in our careers. We are international travelers who enjoy the world's premier cities and cultural sites, as well as multi-sport experiences in mountains, forests, and deserts. So we are equally comfortable in a tuxedo and gown as jeans and hiking boots. The Tahoe property is our second home and we would love to share it with you.
Why the Owner Chose Heavenly Valley:
Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains are among the gems of the world, offering beautiful vistas and challenging physical experiences. We love being 3 miles from the ski slopes and walking out our back door to the Tahoe Rim Trail and endless forest. Shari particularly loves waking up to the magnificent beauty out our 5 windows in the master bedroom. We also love the tranquility and privacy.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
After a challenging day of skiing through the trees off of Heavenly's slopes, we love sitting on our deck or steeping in our hot tub while sipping wine and watching the sun set behind the wooded mountain in our back yard. We think you will, too. In warmer months, we love our morning aerobic challenge of hiking to the top of the mountain in our back yard and returning for breakfast within an hour.
