(Please note that this home is for sale. Therefore, I am not taking reservations more than 3 months out. The home will not be shown during renter's stay). Our beautiful, almost new, vacation home is located in serene Port O'connor, Texas. It is across from a Marina in the exclusive Dolphin Point subdivision at 1108 W. Commerce. It has three bedrooms featuring two queens and a double bed (also a sleeper sofa with self-inflating air mattress). A POOL TABLE is downstairs. 48' TV (Dish Network) and high speed internet connection WITH WI-FI. washer and dryer, and full-flow showers. Fully furnished including dishes/utencils. Boat and RV parking. Lockable garage. Walking distance to boat ramps.
Some of the greatest fishing on the coast. Best fishing is by boat, but there is a large, light public pier and rock jetties. There is a nice bay beach for the little ones. The area features one of the most diverse collection of birds in the world.

Winter Texans appreciate the warm temperatures, slow pace, and quiet. Wal-Mart, HEB and other shopping in Port Lavaca (about 25 miles). Good local eating
Elite Fishing Experiences and beaches: Port O'Connor offers some of the greatest fishing on the Texas Coast. It is not nearly as crowded as Port Aransas/Corpus Christi. There is none of the teenager hassle of South Padre and Port Aransas. Local fishing guides are available or you can bring your own boat. Surf fishing, pier fishing, and fishing off the bay jetties is popular without a boat. Matagorda Bay and Saluria Bayou are popular destinations. An abandoned Coast Guard station, washed away down to the concrete by a hurricane, is a popular attraction. There are ample wade fishing opportunities in the bays and back lakes. There are Gulf beaches accessible only by boat, and you may be the only one on that beach. If you want to get away from the crowds, this is your place in the sun. Literally. Ask my how to get there.
Amazing Bird Watching: If you're a bird watcher like me, welcome to heaven. I have read that there are more different bird species in Calhoun County (our county) than any other county in the world. The Roseatte Spoonbill is sighted on most excursions. Pelicans, Egrets, Osprey, Herons, Hawks, Eagles, and other bird life can be found.
Winter Texans: Port O'Connor offers a unique attraction to anyone looking to avoid the cold Northern winters. Average Winter high temperatures are in the 60s with very few days at or near freezing. Winter is the driest season of the year. The near-tropical weather produces an abundance of green vegetation through the winter months. Many sunny days and gentle breezes make for a very pleasant, peaceful stay.

Our Stay in POC for fishing was wonderful, well, except for the cold weather and the wind that kept us in the house Friday night. However, aside from missing out on the fishing one night, we enjoyed our night by watching TV on the huge flatscreen upstairs, making dinner in the full kitchen, and playing pool on the downstairs pool table. The house was very accommodating for the 6 of us, as we all had a bedroom and bathroom, and it was very convenient, being so close to the Fishing Center and Froggy's. Time spent not fishing was spent getting ready to fish or laughing with each other on the large front porch. I would definitely recommend staying here on your next trip down. The owner was very informative and extremely nice. Thanks so much!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I are volunteers who assist in bringing in wounded soldiers from all over the US for a weekend of bay fishing, fellowship and great food for two days. This year, there were 438 wounded heros (whoo hoo!). This was our "home" for three days. If fulfilled our needs, along with those of three wounded soldiers. The kitchen and adjoining dining area became our hub, allowing us to form forever friendships. The deck is awesome, always a cool breeze. The Gleinser's were very accommodating, answering our emails very promptly when booking this home. Very comfortable home and great owners! Home was just as described, plus more. Plenty of dishes, towels, soaps, etc. This home is very much recommended for any type of get away....very close to marinas, great restaurants and cute shops. Thanks for a wonderful home, look forward to using it again in the future. God Bless our soldiers!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Tom, Cannot thank you enough for letting us be your guest this past weekend. Our son, who became a wounded soldier this year, stayed with us (and his wife). Then we had a soldier from his base who was left "homeless" at one of the hotels. We allowed him to stay with us as well. I guess after being in Afghanistan, your home was the "Trump Towers" to them. All they could say was "ohh and ahhh". In other words, they felt very comfortable. Earlier this month, we had talked a soldier from Brook Army Medical Center to board the bus and come down (they only stay for the day). He had severe neck and back problems along with PTSD. (we have a fish fry at BAMC the first week of May to invite these guys down and this is where we met Brandon). Didn't think he would come, but he did! Once he got off the bus, he couldn't take the crowds, and luckily Chuck found him. We invited him back to the house to relax and take it easy. This young man hardly looked me in the eye during the fish fry and made little conversation. Once he got to the house, he settled down on the sofa, stayed to himself for a little while and after about an hour, started joining in on our conversations (we were at the table). This guy really became comfortable with us, started opening up about his job (a medic, twice in Iraq) and how he was hurt. OMG, I couldn't believe it. He never looked down at the floor anymore. He sat on the deck, layed down in the afternoon and came back and started talking again. He said he had never felt this comfortable in someone's home in a long time. As the day ended and we had to take him back to the bus, I asked if I could hold his hand and tell him goodbye (he did not like anyone hugging or touching him). He looked at me and said "no, you can hug me" (won't go into how many tears were shed). So this is why I'm saying again, THANK YOU. I know the home alone didn't bring him out of his shell, but feeling the comforts of it certaintly helped. We are wanting to rent a home again for next year. Can you buy a bigger home (ha, ha)? I will keep in touch with you as they set the dates for next year. We don't have a problem paying full price, know you have to make money on your property. Thank you again, God bless you and our soldiers, Susie A.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We had a great stay at Port O'Connor #232893. The place was immaculately clean and bigger than we expected. There was plenty of room in the spacious living area for conversation among friends and the kitchen was well appointed with everything we could possibly need. The large covered deck allowed us to lounge outside and enjoy the gulf breeze while reading a good book in between fishing trips to the back bays. We put this place on our “repeater” list. We’ll definitely be visiting this wonderful home again!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
