Fabulous house, location and owner! Week long stay with family (with small children) and could not have had a better time. House was VERY clean, well appointed (newly remodeled) and views that are only seen in movies... but its out your window! Owner, Diego, was so helpful when part of our group arrived by car at 1130pm and he met them in Barga to escort to the house in the dark. Location near Barga is great and easy to get to Lucca, Pisa, Florence, etc. by car or train. We used both to get around on day trips. Great restaurants and shops in Barga and grocery too! Definately will go back and stay here!!! Oh yea, did I mention the FABULOUS views? :)
Owner response:Many many thanks for your precious help Really hope to see you and your family again Diego Amelia Angelo

"relaxing time in extremely beautiful surroundings" we were a family of six plus girlfriend with chidren aged 8 11 13 and 17 +17plus my parents. in their 70s .We were accomodated as an extra room was kindly given from the next door residence. Sittting out on the balcony taking in the beautiful scenery and tranquility and sharing pasta and wine prepared in the well equipped kitchen was the unexpected icing on the cake as late october is a little cooler generally.. To appreciate the area you really need .a car to get out into the Marble mountains or to the Windy Caves on either a wet or very hot day and also Castelnuovo with its wonderful Gelateria, about 1/3 the price of those in Florence. The situation of the villa with its views of Barga are those seen on the website but also the views across the Serchio valley to the mountains are fantastic. It is rural so if you like being in the middle of it all then you may be diappointed. The owners were very welcoming and attentive and my parents managed the steps both to our villa and their bedroom ..This is a great place to get away from it all ..The people are very friendly in Barga eg.when trying to get some medication from a late pharmacy which I couldnt find, one of the local bar owners who was shutting up shop left his son with my wife and childrenin his shop whilst he actually drove me to the chemist..The Strina family popped in at an opportune time when my firemaking skills had led to a rather smokey effort. The rooms were comfortable and the views from the windows and bacony were great. Lovely well appointed house in a lovely part of the world

Il Trebbio - excellent! Enjoyed an excellent week's holiday at Il Trebbio. The villa was very comfortable, spacious, clean and well equipped. A wonderful verandah and garden area provided plenty of relaxation inbetween sightseeing trips. We had good food at the local village restaurant, our teenagers enjoyed visiting the village pool, cycling in Lucca, visiting local caves and further afield Pisa and the coast. Diego and his family were very welcoming, helpful and friendly.

"A great contrast to commercial Tuscany, a hidden gem." Recommend walking to and visiting the local restaurant, used near by swimming pool, has great views. Accommodation was clean and comfortable, enjoyed evenings on terrace, stunning view of Barga. Diego was very welcoming, a great host for the property. Good base for days out to Lucca, caves and nature reserve up in the mountains. Car definitely needed to get to Barga as very hilly.

"A fabulous Week in June" Diego and his partner gave us a warm welcome and the villa lived up to our expectations. Great sized rooms, clean, well equipped and the view really is spectacular. Very convenient for Barga and the surrounding villages. A car really is a must though. We were looking for somewhere reasonably quiet but not far from civilisation and I must say it was perfect in that regard. Diego and his father popped in a couple of times to chat and make sure all was well. They were really nice and friendly. The surrounding area is beautiful and some nice walks in the surrounding hills, and there are fabulous mountains nearby. Short drive to numerous restaurants or supermarket. We will definitley consider going again and thouroughly recommend the villa and the surrounding area for a very relaxing break.

Splendid stay Our family (my wife, daughter, my son together with his girlfriend) spent 2 weeks at Trebbio II in august 2009. The house was very spacious, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The view from the balcony over the old medieval town of Barga was just breathtaking. You could even notice the changing colours of the roofs of Barga in the different day light. For those who just want to relax, they'll find the tranquility they need, and if you don't want to be much shut off from the "world, you have your TV, your internet access (!), and restaurants in walking distances. The garden in front and behind the location is another highlight! Seeing and smelling the plants and herbs was a special treat for us, not to mention the splendid view from the heightened position of the garden to Barga in the night, which especially our son and his girlfriend enjoyed very much. The location was an ideal base to visit lots of beautiful sights such as such as Lucca, Florence, just to mention a few. Diego and his family proved to be very friendly, generous and helpful people who popped in whenever we needed them, enjoying a chat with them, and who provided us with vegetables from their garden. All in all, we can recommend this location very much.

Relaxing holiday close to Barga We spent a really nice week at Il Trebbio. The house itself is quite spacious, well maintained and the garden offers lovely views on the medieval city of Barga and its surrounding hills. It is an excellent location for hiking in the mountains of both the alpi apuane and the appenines.

"Wonderful Tuscan Retreat" We absolutely loved our stay at Il Trebbio. A gorgeous farmhouse in the middle of the Tuscan countryside with amazing views. It was a fantastic place to unwind from our on-the-go Europe trip, a great base to visit sites such as Pisa and Florence, and to take in some great walks, quaint villages and amazing landscapes. A beautiful house with great hosts who met all our needs and requests with efficiency and a smile. Thankyou Diego and Family for a wonderful stay

We wanted: - clean, comfortable accomodation; - to be within 5 minutes drive from town; - a small-town environment; - quiet, relaxed surroundings; and - friendly, helpful but unobtrusive landlords. We found all this at Il Trebbio plus: - fantastic views looking down the valley to Barga and up to the mountains; - an ideal mix of warm sunlight during the day and a snuggly open fire in the evening. It was the perfect base from which we were able to make day and half-day trips around the beautiful Tuscan countryside. We have booked to return ! · By Fullagar from Sydney on 1/27/2011 for a stay in 3/1/2009

"A wonderful experience" Its got to be classed as one of our very best holidays. The house is set in the hills of albiano and has all the items you would wish for. The scenery is breathtaking with one of the best walled cities we have ever been to (Lucca). This is one wonderful part of Italy that needs to be visited

"A lovely place in the hills" We spent a week at Il Trebbio during the Easter of 2007 and it was perfectly beautiful. Diego and his parents were very kind and generous hosts, the property was clean and well appointed, and the views were outstanding. Our children (then aged 11 and 15) enjoyed spending time in the garden, and we all took regular walks in to Barga and to nearby albiano. Il Trebbio is easy travelling distance to Pisa, with Florence, Siena and the Cinque Terre available for longer day trips. I'll never forget sitting on the balcony on a sunny Easter Sunday morning listening to the bells ringing across the valley. We had a memorable stay in Tuscany and look forward to visiting again one day.

5 of 5 Tuscan Family Holiday in Spring We, had driven from Pizza airport in two cars, and having arived in Barga and phoned the given number, were met by a friendly host and shown the way to the villa, outside the town. When we arrived, we were shown round a spacious home high up on a hill with amazing views of Barga and the valley. Outside there were barbcue facilities, a patio big enough for the six of us, a covered veranda and a garden, where we were told to help ourselves to the herbs. Inside the rooms were spacious. The owners were warm and welcoming, and even though only Diego spoke fluent English, we managed to communicate well. There is plenty to do in the area, with beautuful walks in the hills, the winding streets of Barga to explore and a local restuarant and shop within walking distance. If you want to explore farther, it is easy to drive to Luca or hop on the local train to Florence. Our group consisted of my husband and me, our two adult childern and their partners. We all had a lovely time and hope to return one day. · By Jane from Haverfordwest, Wales UK on 1/31/2011 for a stay in 5/1/2006
