Clarence Town house description
This is where you want to go when you truly want to 'get away from it all'. This is a Private Home on 5 beautifully landscaped acres ,with its own private beach and cabana. Most Long Islanders consider Galloway Beach to be 'the Prettiest Beach' on Long Island. We are on the lee side of the island (gulf side) so the water is a clear turquoise blue and very calm. The sand is soft and snow white. This water is perfect for children. It is literally like a huge swimming pool. There is some snorkeling just off the beach at small coral head. More dramatic snorkeling on the easily accessible Atlantic side.
Bone fishing is accessible close by. The house is located next to the old Diamond Crystal Salt Works. There are lots of shallow 'flats' that you can walk to to bone fish. Bone fish, barracuda, tarpon are some of the fish you will encounter. You can walk or drive to lots of isolated water. (See Ron's review for info on lures he used ....very informative,...we don't fish so that might be helpful info)
Enjoy your morning coffee on the patio, while viewing the tranquil sea. Watch osprey and flamingos fly overhead while mockingbirds sing. There are no 'neighbors' 10 acres north or south of the house so you are insured a lot of privacy. We are 5 miles from the main road so there is no traffic noise. There are only about 8 houses total on Galloway beach (each on huge lots)
Our house is spacious and comfortable. House features 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, open living room/dining room, full kitchen, covered patio with view to the sea. AC and also ceiling fans in all all rooms. Gas bbq grill, patio table and chairs and loungers on patio. There is also an outdoor shower for rinsing off sand after a day on the beach. Private cabana on the beach with furniture.
-Bedroom 1 has queen bed
-Bedroom 2 has queen bed and twin bed
-Bedroom 3 has double bed and bunk beds.
Home sleeps 9 total.
-2 full bathrooms with shower stalls.
-Kitchen has refrigerator with ice maker, microwave, blender, all pots and pans, utensils, dishes, glassware, picnic dishes, linens, etc
Kitchen has table that seats 4, bar area that seats 4 and opens onto the dining room which has a table that seats 6 to 8. Sliding glass doors in the dining room look out on to the patio.
Linens included for all beds, plus towels, beach towels.
All bedrooms have ceiling fans. In the winter and spring months, the breezes keep air conditioning unnecessary. Sleep with the screened windows open and awake to birds singing. In the hotter, summer months, air conditioning keeps the house very comfortable. The water is warm in the winter months and very warm in the summer months.
We are located appr. 5 miles from Clarencetown. In Clarencetown, you will find a small grocery store, and several restaurants. WiFi is available at Winter Haven Restaurant and also at Flying Fish Marina. This is the capital of Long Island and location of the Marina. There is a gas station there and also this is where the mail boat comes in with supplies. You can find fresh fruits and vegetables at the packing house located next to the harbor.
In Deadman's Cay, location of the airport, appr 17 miles, you will find fully stocked grocery stores, liquor stores, laundry service (just drop off and pick up the next day!), restaurants. Max Conch Bar is a must...serving the world famous Conch Salad. WiFi is available at the Conch Bar. There are small gift shops.
In Deadman's Cay you can make arrangements to rent a car, or go bonefishing. You can rent a car at other locations on the island.
There is a health clinic in Deadman's Cay.
Bone fishing, scuba diving, kayaking and lots of other water sports and activities are available on the island. Other spots not to miss are Dean's Blue Hole, the worlds deepest blue hole, BonnaCorde lagoon beach, (great fun for young snorklers), and in the north, Columbus Point Monument with breathtaking cliff views of the sea. There are also caves to explore, plantation ruins, local museum, and lots of unspoiled beaches to walk.
Long Island has enough to keep you entertained or if you want to totally relax, our house has all you need....tranquil sea, and palms rustling in a gentle breeze......

- The house is located 3 miles from Clarencetown. It is very remote making it your own peaceful getaway. The beach is private, very few people walking beach as there are only 8 houses on this road, each on 5 to 10 acre lots. The other homes are privately owned with only 1 other renting. Therefore there is little noise or activity on this road and beach. You rarely hear a car, only birds singing, palms rustling and waves lapping.....You will feel you are on your own island.........moreless

Very beautiful, private well appointed home on a beautiful and for the most part private beach! Perfect for my wife and I to get away or a family. The water is gorgeous and safe. The house is set up perfect. Couldn't ask for more!

If you like your own secluded beach, a comfortable home, on an island paradise where everyone is friendly, this is the place for you. We have been renting through VRBO for several years, and this was the most unique place we have vacationed. The house and property seem larger in life than from these pictures, and the open floor plan has a great view out to the beach. We were there for two weeks, and ended up at restaurants only twice, as we enjoyed the beach so much we would plan a lunch at the gazebo, and before you know it, it was sunset. We saw some kids playing on the beach one day about a quarter mile away and one other couple in the water the entire time. As noted, the house is well equipped, and we barbequed on the back deck several evenings. Very enjoyable, and we thank Patty for all her helpful hints and interesting information about the house and the island. Since we are from California, this was quite a long journey, but we hope to go back again someday soon.

My wife and I stayed at the house. Big place with everything you need. It is our type of place. Clean and comfortable. House had everything we needed. Big kitchen and plenty of room inside and out. Patio was great. Gazebo at the beach perfect too. If you are looking for fancy resort style with brand new everything and tv don't go to long island. If you want a a relaxing vacation and few people around and beautiful scenery then head to this place. The beach by the house was great. Saw people on in a couple days but then way at the end. We explored usual spots like deans hole. Was windy during our stay so snorkeled at deans alot. Tons of fish to see there. Did snorkel coral head north of house off the beach. great spot to see plenty of fish. Took road past house to the washed out bridge. At outgoing tide the fish are stacked in there. We waded out and tossed crackers and had a hundred sargent majors swimming inches away. Beaches at south end of island amazing. Could walk for miles and miles. Great shelling there. I even hiked to the southern tip of the island (need decent shoes for this as beach ends and it is rocky then) Local people wonderful. Everyone was nice and all asked how we liked the island and hoped we will come back. Local food wonderful. We mostly ate in as land crabs were out so we caught them for dinner. Caught normal crabs too. Markets up by deadmans cay had everything we need. Water guy up there too made it easy. Pick up water, food, rum from the liquor store all in 15 minutes. Basket lady in town has great work. Guy on side of road down south also good work. We bought stuff from both. I went down week before to bonefish. slowest they had in years but we still landed plenty. I did scout behind the house and saw some bonefish there too. As the second week was vacation time, didn't fish as much. But next trip will glaldly fish that area more. We hope to go back again. Just wish I could go back for a month next time.

Galloway beach house
Galloway beach house
We recently stayed at Galloway Beach house. The house was great--everything worked including the outdoor grill. The kitchen was very functional and the beds were comfortable. The beach is gorgeous. One of the main advantages of the house is its location on the lee side of Long Island. The water is calmer and there is less wind than the Atlantic side. The house is reasonably close to groceries, restaurants and gas station. The area is secluded and private. The house was clean and well maintained with fantastic views. Great fishing, swimming, and snorkeling. Bring insect repellant. We plan on staying there again next year.

The ultimate escape!!
The ultimate escape!!
This trip was a dream we thought would never happen! Paradise! We were in heaven with the beauty of the water and beach....in awe at the total privacy!! We never saw one other soul on our beach!!!!! The house was immaculate and we felt like it was OUR home immediately! There truly aren't enough words to describe how awesome our time was here. One would have to experience it! The island is remote in some ways, which we totally loved. The local people were awesome! We were very close to Clarence Town, so we ate there a couple of times at the Outer Edge Grill which was right on the water at the marina....fish tacos were so wonderful! Our other favorite spot was in Deadmans Cay at Max's Conch Bar (where you pick up your key when you get there)...the food is fresh and wonderful especially Gary's homemade (right in front of you) conch salad!!! Ultimately though, we had a very difficult time leaving the house and our own beach! We visited some of the other pretty beaches and while they were gorgeous, nothing topped being back home at Galloway!! The owners have great tips and directions on local shopping and restaurants, so everything was very easy and relaxing! I would and have recommended this to all my friends an family! This was our 25th anniversary celebration, but we would eagerly take our kids in the future!

I HAVE BEEN TO HOUSE ON TWO OCCASIONS, BOTH IN JAN. WEATHER WAS GREAT. HOUSE IS VERY NICE. LOCATION IS SPECTACULAR. IF YOU LIKE PRICACY AND BEATY IN SAME PACKAGE IT CAN'T BE BEAT. IF YOU LIKE TO FISH, IT IS ALL AROUND YOU. YOU CAN BOOK A GUIDE OR GO OUT FRONT , ACCROSS ROAD AND WADE INTO HUNDREDS OF ACRES OF FLATS IN THE SALT WORKS. BONEFISH, BABY TARPON, AND AN ABUNDANCE OF VERY AGGRESSIVE BARRACUDA. LIGHT TACKLE SPIN WITH RED OR WHITE OR COMB HAIR JIGS OR FLYROD ( 8 TO 9 WT WT FORWARD LINE DUE TO WIND AND BONE FISH FLYS OR STREAMERS FOR BARRACUDA. MED WT BAIT CASTING AND TOPWATER LURES (ZARA SPOOK WORKED GOOD FOR ME) FOR BABY TARPON AND BARRACUDA. GOOD POLARIZED SUNGLASSES ARE A MUST. IF YOU LIKE TO HIKE, SALT WORKS HAS MILES OF ROADS WHICH ARE ALMOST UNUSED. MUCH BIRD LIFE, CONCH SHELLS IN ABUNDANCE IN MANY AREAS. SOME OF BRUSH IS THORNY, BUT NO VENOMUS SNAKES OF OTHER DANGER CREATURES. CERTAIN AREAS ARE VERY INTERESTING AT LOW TIDE AND WATCHING AS TIDES COME IN AND FISH ACTIVITY INCREASES. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MY THIRD TRIP IN JAN. 2012. IF YOU FISH, TAKE YOUR TACKLE AND LURES. LITTLE IS AVAILABLE ON ISLAND. PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY. THERE IS LITTLE TOURIST ACTIVITY AT THIS END OF THE ISLAND, JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT. BEACH AT END OF YARD IS UNBELIVABLE. WATER IS SO CLEAR YOU CAN SEE BOTTOM TO 40 OR 50 FT. DEEP. IT IS THE MOST RELAXING PLACE I HAVE EVER BEEN. IN ABOUT TWO TO THREE DAYS YOU BECOME BAHAMAIZED AND SLOW YOU PACE OF LIVING AS THE NATIVES DO. LEAVE YOUR LACK OF PATIENCE AT HOME. NO ONE IS IN A HURRY ON THE ISLAND. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS AS A VACTION YOU WILL NOT FORGET.

About: This home is owned by 3 families (since 1987). We wanted a fun, safe place to vacation with our children. Gordon and Melanie Rose, Dan and Patty Oliver, and Robert and Shirl Lo Presti welcome you to their paradise.
Why Clarence Town:
As soon as we saw this property, we fell in love with the calm clear water and privacy of the beautiful grounds. It's perfect for children to play and swim. The grounds are quiet and peaceful. You can sit and birdwatch from the patio. Osprey thrill you with the majesty, mockingbirds serenade you in the morning. We just find it to be paradise...
The Unique Benefits at this House:
One of the unique aspects of this property is that you are likely not to see anyone on the beach. The beach is on the lee side of the island so the water is very calm the majority of the time. The house is on a very secluded road so you hear no road traffic, no phones ringing, no tv blaring...just peace and quiet.
