  The best kind of vacation in paradise - beautiful condo, perfect location, helpful owners. We are a family of 6 (all adults) and everyone wants to go back. The apartment is even better than the pictures - the amenities are all there; it is spotlessly clean; the view and location are outstanding. Stargazing from the plunge pool while listening to the waves crashing on the beach below - the perfect way to end each day. Thank you Alison and David - we will be back!

  We went to BBD to celebrate my friend's 40th and were all very impressed with our accomodations. We had bedrooms and bathrooms to ourselves because it was just three of us, but this condo is still very spacious with more than three. Amazing views, nice breeze througout the condo, very well decorated and I don't think you can get much closer to the beach than this! Probably wouldn't want to! We cooked dinner most nights as the kitchen was well equipped with all appliances to accomodate nice dinners. And who wouldn't want to eat dinner under the stars on the patio. Oh! I almost forgot the plunge pool...Lovely. Please go, you would not regret it!!

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

• Paradise in Barbados

  We (my husband and I, our two kids age 22 and 14, and my parents) just got home from spending the Christmas and New Year's holidays in Barbados and all I can say is I want to go back! David and Allison's penthouse was the perfect place to spend the holidays. (Allison even had it completely decorated for Christmas!) The pictures on-line are beautiful - but it was even more beautiful in person. The property is kept in immaculate condition and is very secure. David was there to greet us and get us checked in and Allison left a very thorough notebook with instructions for the condo and her own recommendations for restaurants. The beach in front of the condo is beautiful and somewhat private but there is activity on either side if you want more activity. My husband and kids took surf lessons from Barry's Surf School (right next door to the condo) and there are also restaurants/bars on the beach that are close enough - but not too close. We didn't rent a car and it was never a problem. There were always taxis available just a few steps from the condo. There is also a bus system that is easy to use. Plus, all the activities we booked included round trip transportation. We did a six hour, lunch time catamaran cruise with Calypso, went deep sea fishing on Ocean Hunter for 8 hours, spent two days surfing with Barry's Surf School, spent three days scuba diving with EcoDive, and explored the island with Island Safari. We were not disappointed with any of our activities. The people in Barbados are all so kind and helpful and all of our guides were fun and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Barbados, this penthouse, and all of the activities...it was an awesome vacation!

• Two Week Escape

  First vacation in four years just the two of us; doing absolutely nothing. Not only did we find the perfect location, white sandy beaches dotted with palm trees, which offered a shady respite from the sun to curl up under with a good book or just to take a nap. The water is crystal clear and you can walk out quite a distance and feel safe. Keep an eye out for turtles as they come most mornings and evenings (around high tide) to feed. The sea bed is mostly sand but be mindful there are a few rocks. Barry’s Surf School provides light entertainment late mornings. Snorkelling is not great here but we tried The Folkestone Park and Marine Reserve just north of Holetown, it was amazing. As mentioned in other reviews there are restaurants, bars and cafes all within easy walking distance and we always felt safe walking at night. The convenient store/deli is a block away. We agree - stay away from Bellini’s, a lovely location but the food was mediocre…pity. We also found the perfect accommodation. The penthouse is immaculate, well equipped and beautifully furnished. Sun cream, toothbrush and clothes are all you need to pack. We actually spent a lot of time in the penthouse just enjoying the lovely atmosphere and sea breezes. We relaxed listening to music, playing cribbage or sun bathing followed by a quick dip in the private plunge pool to cool off. Eating breakfast each morning on the terrace, watching the sun slowly climb in the sky, set us up for the rest of the day. The penthouse is a lovely place to stay in a great location and would highly recommend staying here. We hope to do so again.   We took our 15 year old son and 2 friends down to the island to do a surf tour. We have stayed on both sides of the island in the past so I can say from experience that this is a wonderful central location. There are a ton of good restaurants within walking or short cab distance. The place is tastefully decorated and the beds/linens were also nice. The place has very good security plus every one that worked there was great and helpful. There is plentiful a/c in the bedrooms but no a/c in the general living area. It was not an issue for us (and being southerners we love our a/c) because the off-shore winds keep that area very comfortable. There is a washer/dryer plus some drying racks on one of the 3 great porches so I could have brought less clothes. The kitchen is nicely laid out so we ate in for breakfast. Read the book that the wonderful owners left about restuarant reviews upon arrival and stay away from Bellinis,Our only regret was that we didn't have enough time to truly enjoy this beautiful penthouse without the company of 3 boys. Enjoy the fish fry at Ostins on Friday nite, sing karaoke at Scottys, snorkel Carlilse Bay, see Speightstown, see Bathsheba and enjoy staying in this beautiful penthouse. Thanks David and Alison.   You cannot get better than this ! The condo was immaculate and as other reviews have stated - the air conditioning is not even needed, the constant breeze through the condo is so refreshing. The owners are very easy to deal with and extremely helpful and genuinely are there to help you enjoy your stay in Barbados (there is a wonderful list of restaurants that they have put together with a description of each - better than the tour books ! ). You feel very safe with all the security, and the staff are all very friendly and always have a smile and a hello when they see you. As promised there are brand new beach chairs/loungers at your disposal as well as many extras from the condo building if you are more than four. The beach is nice and quiet and the surf school next door makes for great entertainment while you bask in the sun or shade on the beach. This condo is the best we ever had and highly recommend it to anyone looking to treat themselves in Barbados.

  Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

  This could not have been a nicer place, nor in a nicer location! Wonderful accommodations, great restrauants nearby and the beach and water were lovely. The view is the best, and the constant cooling breeze really made it like paradise. David and Alison were delightful and easy to do business with. My wife is already asking about when we can return! You will not go wrong on this one, the pohots, lovely though they are, cannot do this penthouse complete justice. Thank you David and Alison!

  We absolutely loved the place. Definite 5 star rating. We had a traveler with some special needs and the manager of the property was able to get us wheel chair to make her stay much more enjoyable. In addition, the owner was very helpful with recommending places to eat and visit. We wanted a place we could have space to spread out and relax without being on top of one another, we did not want to have complexly separate hotel rooms, and the Penthouse was the perfect solution. My husband does not swim so the small pool on the patio was perfect for him to enjoy the water while looking at the ocean. We had breakfast every morning looking at the ocean and planning our day. It was easy to get divers to take you sight seeing and many of the restaurants were within walking distance in the Gap. It was our first visit to Barbados and we were very impressed.

  If there were six stars available we would have used them! We loved our stay in this penthouse. It is everything it is advertised, with the bonus of having a gracious owner couple who are available to assist in whatever way they can. The condo itself is beautifully appointed, and air conditioning is available, though unnecessary due to the lovely cross-breeze when windows and doors are open. There is a gas grill which we used to cook on one night, as well as a full kitchen with microwave. The condo is very spacious, and the master bedroom, especially is very large. The property is very clean, and housekeeping came and tidied up once during the week. The property location is wonderful. The bars and restaurants of St. Lawrence Gap are easily walking distance, yet the immediate neighborhood is relatively quiet, as advertised. There is a local market within a five minute walk. The beach is also lovely, and we agree with other travelers who said that after exploring other beaches on the island, Dover Beach was one of their favorites. Barry's Surf School is located a few doors down, as well as a small beach bar. The beach itself is a little narrow, but has soft white sand and is dotted with palm trees for some much needed shade. The surf is gentle, perfect for boogie boarding and beginner surfing lessons, though the bottom is somewhat rocky. If you walk around the jetty heading north, the beach is rock-free, and there are umbrellas, beach chairs, and water sports available. We always felt very safe here, The building itself has a security system in place for entry, and there is a security guard posted throughout the evening. All in all this was a fabulous rental and we had absolutely no complaints. Would highly recommend!!!!
