Ridge View Resort Upper Peninsula the True Northern Adventure

Every glorious sunrise over Portage Lake starts another fun filled northern adventure after a quiet nights sleep in our cozy cabins. There is a comfortable double bed in one room and two twins in the other. The dock is a busy place most days as the fishermen head out before daybreak. Soon to follow are the kids splashing and jumping on the sandy beach. There are several decks on the waterfront with plenty of seating for extended family visits and a few smaller ones for quiet conversations and contemplation. The loons in the background add northern exposure to the ambiance and when the bald eagle appears it captures even the most preoccupied attention. There is a fire ring with a blaze erupting almost every night. Attention is the only fee for a nightly rerun of the Milky Way where the starlight is so bright you can navigate through the forest by its light alone. The Northern Lights can be seen flashing and dancing across the clearest of skies. Boat and snowmobile rentals are available so everyone can join in on the fun no matter what time of year you may able to join us here at Ridge View Resort.

What a great place! We just returned home from our 4 day weekend to drop of our Tech student. We were welcomed on arrival and told were things were, the cabin was just big enough. Everything we needed was available. The weather was fantastic most of the weekend so we were able to enjoy a few hours on our boat that we drug along last minute. Docking and beach are very nice! Looking forward to our next vist! Owner info
About the owner: My wife Jane and I purchased the Ridge View in August of 2011. I am a retired Carpenter and Musician and Jane is a Registerd Nurse. We have two daughters still in highschool and two dogs in the house or on the porch. We love the cabins and care for them with diligance and tenacity.
Why the Owner Chose Chassell:
Both Jane and I grew up here in Hancock which is four miles north of our cabins. We were left out of a place to stay for a family reunion when we came to town from Green Bay, WI where we were living and chose to stay at the Ridge View. My brother in law asked where we were staying and when I told him he laughed and said 'I just listed it last night.' So once again the right place and the right time helped us realize our dream.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Fresh air is above all on the list of benefits here at Ridge View. The walking trail runs through the yard between the cabins and the lake. It connects Chassell with Houghton and in the winter it is a snowmobile trail. The fishing is great because of Portage Lake's connection to Lake Superior. Big lake, big fish.
