Easy drive from either airport and convenient home base for all your Hawaii Island activities. See the sun rise where morning sky meets the expanse of the azure sea or watch the clouds turn pink as it settles behind the mountains for the evening.
Property is totally off-grid. Electricity provided by solar photovoltaic arrays with genset backup.
Multi-filtered rainwater systems for near pure water enjoyment. Cell only phone service to limit outside intrusion. Satellite TV and Radio broadband WiFi to let the outside world in at your discretion.

Kitchenette has own stove fridge, microwave, dishes and utensils plus convenient access to gas grill with just outside the door. Whether you enjoy just a few nights or an extended stay, you’ll enjoy your Hawaiian experience.
Need to know:
We are located in a rural, agricultural area, please be aware what that may offer. Adjoining properties host grazing cattle. Feral pigs are abundant and can be vocal. Chickens, roosters, ducks, geese, and others contribute to the polyphony.
Pets: Guests are requested to not bring pets with them, (we respectfully ask you coordinate PRIOR to booking if you desire to bring a pet/service animal) but we are owned by THREE awesome boxers. While they have freedom to roam, we prefer they not be invited into guest quarters. Most likely, they’ll look for you in the morning and monitor your safety if in the pool. Because of them, we ask you to double check that the gates are closed when entering or exiting the property.
Smoking: We are serious about being a non smoking property. That starts at the county road as you turn onto our drive. Of course, most rental cars are also non smoking so that’s a help. We would sincerely ask that if this presents a problem that you find a place you can more fully enjoy. Violators will be asked to leave - immediately, and billed accordingly if room needs additional cleaning.
Pool: The pool is available to suite guests only and has 2 important rules that have SAFETY in common.
Rule 1: Any person under 18 years of age must be actively supervised by their parent - NO EXCEPTION.
Rule 2: Glass objects not allowed within 10 feet of pool. Broken glass can cause severe personal injury and damage to pool itself.
Weather: Big Island Hawaii boasts 11 of the 13 climate zones in the world, each with unique ecosystems and weather characteristics. Elevation, pressure variations, rainfall, wind and topography combine to create distinctive microclimates within those climate zones. Climates you may encounter include the humid tropical zones, from sea level to 450 feet, the arid and semi-arid zones, the temperate zones, and the Alpine zones, chilly areas above 10,500 feet.This is not the Hawaii of Waikiki postcards. Rain is what keeps us lush and green. Our normal year rainfall is 120-140 inches. While mostly at night, this changes during the year. Our local temps range from a low of 59 to a high of 80. We have our own Davis weather station on site and accessible via web or iphone app for current conditions. The description was extremely accurate. There is no better way to wake up every morning than to walk out of the cottage, grab some coffee and look out over the ocean. The property was immaculately kept and extremely well maintained. The owners were very helpful in providing ideas for activities while I stayed including a live lava flow, Mauna Kea Observatory, a black sand beach and standing on the most southern tip of the US and looking out over the ocean. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life I highly recommend staying here and enjoying the best the big island has to offer.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

The most peaceful, relaxing vacation we've had in a long time. The view was mesmerizing. We actually saw a rainbow touch the ground next to the pool. You could reach out and touch it!! The hosts welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like family from the first moment. Being dog lovers, we enjoyed the boxers. The accommodations were comfortable and cozy. We felt like we belonged there--not just visiting. We can't wait to go back agian!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, people with disabilities.

Gifts From Heaven is the appropriate name for this vacation rental. The sunrises are amazing and sitting around the pool was so tranquil with an awesome view of the ocean. The hosts are so charming, friendly and helpful that it made our stay even more enjoyable. I especially appreciated the large walk-in shower after a recent knee surgery. About the owner: We come from a military background and large families. We have been blessed to travel and enjoy the world. David was stationed in Hawaii in 70's-80's. Sophie first visited in 1989. David always wanted to return to Hawaii but as happens, life kinda got in the way until a significant life event in the late 90's, then returning to Hawaii became our goal. For those that know, Hawaii lives in your heart. We just didn't move here, we came home.
Why the Owner Chose Ninole:
This is the home in our hearts. Coming from large families and from the East Coast, you know you want family and friend to be able to come and visit - and you want that visit to be special. So we custom designed and built this house accordingly. Crashing on the sofa or maybe the little room down the hall, doesn't cry out 'Vacation in Paradise', so we built to give our guests that experience. That design is the 4 box concept. One box is our Master Suite (located at one end of the house), one box the living room, kitchen & dining (located in the middle), one box the garage, and one box the Guest Suites (located at the other end of house). Those guest rooms should offer a vacation experience, completely self contained. Close enough to be part of the family, yet private enough to getaway, while enjoying the amenities of a private resort. Some say our house is like a private resort. Living here does feel like living at a private resort. We love it!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
A 'Vacation in Paradise' for our friends and family, but reality said those visits would be few and spaced out, so why not think to expand our family (ohana). So with just a bit more thought we designed two suites that are completely self contained. Be an active part of the family, lounge by the pool, talk story, walk the property, be as inclusive as comfortable. OR, be as private and to yourself as you wish. Come and go by the rear entrance and all we'll see is your car coming or going. YOUR choice.
