The spacious private villa features stunning contemporary design, with separate buildings for living, dining and sleeping. Four generous and comfortable bedrooms, all with air-conditioning, ensure a peaceful nights sleep, and are complimented by an array of entertainment options, either within the Firefly Villa compound itself or within easy reach by car. Centre-stage, the curving emerald green pool has a massive infinity edge, and is set amongst towering 20 metre tall trees and giant tree-ferns, making it an ideal place to escape the sultry tropical day. We have just had the best ever holiday staying at Firefly Villa in Bali. This is a beautiful villa, and my family really loved the location. It is quiet, and being in the countryside you get to see the real Bali. When we stayed it was part of a traditional Balinese ceremony period called Galungan. Every house in the little village had a beautiful decoration made from bamboo at the entrance called a penjor. We loved riding the free bicycles past them on the way to the beach. We also recommend just stopping in at one of the little shops and buying a cool drink. It sounds simple, but we loved it. Children will come and try their English out on you, and you will see some of the best smiles in the world. The villa comes with a car and driver and it was easy to get into places like Seminyak and also to Echo Beach, which is a great spot for sunset barbecue and a cold beer. We also did a day trip to Ubud. But most days we stayed at the villa, and most of that time we speant in or around the most beautiful swimming pool I have ever been in.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Fantastic villa with lots of character and fantastic staff!! We had a superb holiday and would definitely hire this place for Christmas Holidays!! Def fun with lots of people and even the cat and dog were welcoming!! Seculuded location means we had fun getting to Ubud other places via taxis and mopeds!! From being picked up at the airport to being dropped off nothing was too much trouble Beautiful home. The unique design gave us plenty of space to either gather together, laze by the pool or relax watching a movie. Meals ,massages and staff all excellent. Peaceful river location just far enough away from the main tourist areas but easy to access if we wanted to. Pool, table tennis, snooker table, library, DVDs etc all available. About the owner: Firefly Villa is owned by Grahame and Lou. They bought the land in 2002. The building of the house began after they had moved to Bali with their son, Tarkyn in 2007 and was completed in 2009. Grahame and Lou were both professional theatre artists in Australia. Their theatre work toured extensively around Australia as well as internationally to countries including Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, USA, Japan, Korea, Russia and Mexico. Then it was time for a new adventure, a new life and a new challenge. We wanted to immerse ourselves into a new culture whilst at the same time indulging ourselves in some of the delights this tropical island has to offer. Our aim is that our guests are able to do the same. They are bringing that same creativity and flair to their projects in Bali. Grahame is primarily responsible for the vision and future development of Tropical Infusions, and Lou takes care of much of the detail and finishing design. Grahame thrives on the challenge of designing and building in Bali. Lou is passionate about creating memorable moments for visitors to Bali. Tarkyn ensures that the villa is equipped with a good range of computer games, children’s novels, board games, toys and DVD’s. In his spare time he enjoys swimming and sleep overs. Avatar, our friendly Golden Retriever is the head (and tail) of security and is a good friend of Zip our tri-coloured cat, which according to the Balinese is a very lucky colour for a cat. Last but certainly not least, our lovely Balinese staff will take care of you during your holiday at Firefly Villa.
Why the Owner Chose Canggu:
Firefly Villa is designed for relaxed tropical living, making the most of a large infinity-pool surrounded by verdant gardens. The outdoor terraces and open living-dining area are perfect for comfort and relaxation in this lush tropical climate. The building itself is structured to draw cool air from the river through the expansive living and sleeping rooms, providing a natural cooling effect, which is enhanced by the magnificent wrap around Koi pond and waterfall.
There are views everywhere, in every direction. It is sometimes difficult to find the “best spot” to sit; there simply isn’t one. The tall trees and the river with volcanic stone bedrock, lined with towering trees, is the garden focus. There are views to the surrounding rice-fields of the beautiful Nyanyi Village, where the day to day life of rural Bali can be enjoyed. Watching the many small creatures who we share the ponds and garden with, is one of the delights of Firefly Villa. There are many different kinds of birds (watch out for the stunning blue kingfishers and the green pigeons), butterflies, frogs, and of course the elusive firefly, which can be spotted at night.
The interconnecting bridges give a sense of lightness to the villa. Guests often find themselves having conversations across the elevated spaces and have a feeling of living amongst the tree tops.
Grahame designed Firefly Villa in conjunction with the building contractors SWA Bali Selaras. Never expecting to become an architect, Grahame discovered that if you design a villa with odd shaped rooms, you also need individually crafted furniture, so he has also designed some of the unique furniture for Firefly Villa. While the Firefly Villa is a contemporary design, great effort has gone into the villas relationship to the land and the beautiful river.
Our aim is to provide an idyllic setting for families and friends who may want to explore other aspects of a holiday in Bali, but also want to have a private rural retreat.
