About this property

Beautiful 1800's Waterfront Farmhouse with Guesthouse and Barn

A beautiful 150-year old rustic saltwater farm surrounded by acres and acres of fields and woods with thousands of feet of shorefront on a tranquil cove.

The perfect setting to go kayaking and canoeing for an active day on the water, to go bicycling and explore the island or Vinalhaven town, to go hiking, or to go swimming in either the salt water or nearby fresh water granite quarries (one two miles away the other four miles distant). You may also want to swim in the warm (for coastal Maine) saltwater cove behind the house, pick berries, or explore the woods on the nearby trails.

Or else just relax on the back porch with a book and a view over the wildflowers and cove and watch the ospreys diving for fish.

There is a 5 BR main house with 3 baths, a guesthouse with 1 BR and a 6-bed bunkroom that kids love.

There is also large barn attached to the guesthouse that is a great setting for a rainy day kids activities such as ping-pong, painting, and there's a big swing hanging off the rafters.

The main house has a full kitchen with equipment for lobster, pies or anything else you might want to create from the delicious local seafood, produce and berries. A huge dining room has a table that expands to seat all of your extended family and gets great views of the cove and fields. A cozy living room is a great place to read or for a late night board game. A large deck off the main house overlooks the back lawn, fields, and cove. There is a hammock to put between two trees just off the back lawn.

There is a master bedroom with king size bed and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs features 2 full bathrooms with and 2 bedrooms with queen-sized beds, 1 room with twin singles, and 1 room with a single bed. A back staircase allows privacy between the 'North' and 'South' upstairs rooms.

The guesthouse features a spacious sitting/dining area with high ceilings with great views over the fields and cove. There's a full kitchen with great views over the fields and cove. There is 1 BR with a queen-sized bed and a great bunk-room with 3 double bunk beds.

The guesthouse also has a large deck with lovely views and an outdoor shower.

There are 2 kayaks, 1 paddle-board, 1 canoe and bicycles available for use by renters
A trail north, past the old apple trees and through the woods leads to nice views out winter harbor towards Deer Isle.

New for 2023 season - Starlink wifi. We apologize for past spotty wifi from the local provider. Any future complaints please contact Elon Musk directly.

Large family reunion dream location
We had such a wonderful time being all together in a very accommodating space for a large family. We had everything every age could want do: a swing, bicycles, kayaks and water tube and so much more.

A wonderful week
8 adults. 2 children. One big, rustic farmhouse; a barn with bunk beds, a swing hung from the rafters and a ping-pong table; acres and acres of fields and woods and a tranquil cove. It was our kind of place. Our time was filled with solving a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle, collecting shoreline shells and other treasures, picking wild blueberries, reading, eating fresh caught lobsters, watching birds, improving our foraging skills, cheering for 4th-of-July-parade floats, riding bikes, and swimming in the cool, clear waters of abandoned quarries.

Family vacation
The property is beautiful with views and a lot of privacy. The facilities definitely sleep as many as stated. The barn offers entertainment options for all ages. Vinalhaven has a great, full service, grocery store. I mention this because dining out options are limited. Overall a great experience!

Beautiful, spacious and well-equipped
We absolutely loved the place. Beautiful sunsets on back deck. The barn was fun to play ping pong in. Had everything we needed, except the internet never worked.

I live overseas and own the property with my brother who lives in Texas. We have been coming to this place every summer for our entire lives which is a real treat.

Why they chose this property

Our parents bought the house in the 50's on their first trip down the Maine Coast when they fell in love with Vinalhaven and the property.

What makes this property unique

Gather some clams and mussels for your dinner at lowtide near the backyard, while enjoying berries for dessert which you've picked in the fields off the front yard! On a rainy day, the huge barn is a great place for the kids to spend a day swinging or playing ping pong.
