New City Center Home. Quiet Courtyard, Pool, Great Finishing
- Minimum stay:3 nights
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:Yes
Casa Sorpresa (Surprise House) is in the city center of La Paz, on same block of the City Museum and very close to Malecon, to the Cathedral Square and to the shopping and supermarkets area (walking distance).
You cannot see Casa Sorpresa from the street, but once you cross the front door the house welcomes you with a large and peaceful patio, a very quiet and reserved place. No one can see you while you're relaxing in the pool!
The patio always provides shade, thanks to the house layout and to the presence of a large mango tree and a tangerine tree.
Casa Sorpresa has been built just a year ago, with wonderful finishes and ample spacing.
The house features 3 bedrooms (2 king size and 2 single beds). Rooms have their private access to the patio and their windows overlook the pool. The two king size bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms.
Large Mexican style kitchen with every modern appliance (electric oven, dishwasher, side by side fridge, espresso machine, gas stove, microwave). The kitchen is directly connected to the living room and can host you and your friends for dinner. The outside covered patio features a second kitchen and is equipped for outdoor lounging and dining.
Every room is air conditioned (kitchen included). Guests have an indoor garage for 1 car at their disposal. Pool cleaning and plants are taken care of by the owner.

Wow....what a great house! Antonio and Diana were awesome and helped with everything we needed. We used the house to reunite with friends who live in Cabo; we prefer La Paz because it is so much nicer, quieter and Mexican. The house is beautifully appointed; we cooked wonderful meals using both the indoor and outdoor kitchen. We sat around the pool and enjoyed the beautiful courtyard. The house is spacious with plenty of room for big families. The town of La Paz has a wonderful market, nice beaches and a peaceful attitude. We would DEFINITELY rent this house again. Everything about the house, the owner and the caretakers was perfect. Thanks so much!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Fantastic time in La Paz and lovely,"Casa Sorpresa"...great location, close to all and easy ride to out of area beaches. The house is perfect for families, children. Our kids 13 and 8 had a blast with the pool and we loved the mandarin oranges. The patio is perfect for dining and just relaxing and reading. The house is very cozy, comfortable, clean and roomy. We enjoyed cooking in the nice kitchen and convenient garage for the rental car. I hope we can rent the house again for a month stay. Antonio was great and gave us very good information and explained all about the house. I rate the home a 10+... Supermarket is very near, the home offers all you need. Mango tree is looking great by the way and if you visit in July/August a great to enjoy by the garden.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Casa Sorpresa is a perfect oasis in La Paz. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. Having the pool is especially refreshing when the afternoon temperature starts to rise. The owner, Daniela, was extremely helpful in getting information to me and answering any questions I had before I left. I do recommend you rent a car -- but not from Fox. Their policies and procedures caused a great deal of distress and confusion. I rented the Casa for a week to visit my children and grandchildren who had sailed down. All three generations loved the house and I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting La Paz. La Paz, itself, is a refreshing change from many of the other high tourist areas in Mexico. The local people are lovely and very helpful and, as they all seem to love children, they made a great fuss over ours. We got lost a great deal of the time, because street signs are few and far between, but even then we got to explore areas we didn't know about. All in all, a highly enjoyable vacation.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed here for four days in late March. Everything was wonderful and the home is even more beautiful than the pictures show. We drank coffee in the morning in the courtyard and watched hummingbirds flit around the fruit trees and flowers. In the evenings we enjoyed watching the sunset and listening to the sounds of the nearby culture - museum events, dance studio and nature. We have been to La Paz five times and this is by far the best home. It is new, very clean and well appointed, the outdoor area is huge and cooking outdoors was a joy. Because it was so pleasant outdoors, we did not spend much time inside but the master bedroom is gorgeous and opens onto the courtyard. The other rooms open onto the courtyard too. The living room is large and the indoor kitchen very nice. The home is central to everything - great restaurants, shops, bakeries, grocery stores and the malecon. We had a car but parked it in the ample garage for the four days we were there and walked everywhere, though we did drive to the beach at Tecolote, and getting there was very easy from the Casa. Daniela, the owner, is very responsive and thorough. Antonio and Diana, the property managers, were very attentive and helpful. We loved Casa Sorpresa so much that we are returning in the fall with our two children for a four-month stay at this home. Need I say more?Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The "shoulder season" mornings are cool and fresh; but you can still enjoy a morning cup of tea by the pool and commune with ths morning doves, orioles, and hummingbirds. When the sun comes into the courtyard at 9:30, it warms up quickly, and you can test the pool temperature. By 11:30 you're in the pool, and it's drink time in the shade by noon. Lunch in the covered outdoor dining area, and then a siesta until late afternoon. Wake up with a stroll past the dancce school (they may be teaching a class in the courtyard) to the coffee bar for an expresso; or perhaps wander dowm to the Malecon (stop by the fairground at night for some spectacular neon displays on the rides.)The entire neiborhood is explorable by foot, and don't miss the weekend market at the "bluebird plaza". Out of town: well, let's just say you better bring a GPS, and drive defensivly. Streets are not well signed, stop signs are routinely"blown", maps are questionable, and the cow signs really do mean cows on the road --- but who's keeping track, it's an adventure! Visit the isolated beaches up the road --- one for every taste! See the old silvermine town and have a mesquite oven pizza at the local cafe.Whale watch (a long drive). We found our "casa" was wonderful to return to after a day on the road --- so we spent most of our time there. La Paz has lots to do for a relativly small town --- but it's not quite the "party central" of the Cabos further south. It's a more mature, laid-back atmosphere which appealed to us. Both my wife and I would do it again --- maybe next Canadian winter!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
