  We had a terrific time at Just Ducky! Thank you so much for the hospitality. The home is perfectly situated--close to "town" and even closer to the beach. The kitchen has everything visitors need--tons of pots and pans, mixing bowls, appliances, etc. We were particularly grateful for the high chair and playard for our little guy, and appreciated the selection of paperbacks, games, etc for the rest of us. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, the house was spotless when we arrived, and the electronic lock was extremely convenient. September at the beach treated us well--sunny days, warm water, cool nights, and wide open streets and beaches. The owners were terrific--very responsive and accommodating. "Just Ducky" is perfect for a low-key family beach getaway and we can't wait to go back.

  We were so pleased that we stayed at Just Ducky. It was a short walk to the beach and you can see the ocean from the upper deck. The house was exactly as advertised and especially clean. The living area is spacious and there was plenty of room for my two little granddaughters (two & three years olds) to play. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you would need. We spent a lot of time in the pool and the hot tub was the hit of the vacation for the little ones. (They called it the warmy pool). We highly recommend this rental and hope to go back some day. We had great weather and a fabulous vacation. Thank you David:) The Orcutts/Straubs

  We just made our reservation for our tenth consecutive summer stay at Just Ducky. The location couldn't be better. Easy access to the beach and a short walk to great shops and wonderful restaurants. The house is well equipped and comfortably laid out for a relaxing family vacation. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else! The Blatters

  This was our first trip to the Outer Banks and we were so pleased that we stayed in Duck at David and Sally's rental home. It is a short walk(about 3-5 minutes) to the beach and you can see the ocean from the upper deck (and hear the ocean at quieter times). The house was exactly as advertised(even better in person!) and especially clean. The living area is spacious and there was plenty of room for dining and creating a 1500 piece puzzle! The kitchen was equipped with everything that we were looking to use. Having a pool also gave us the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time there when we were not at the ocean. It provided us with a lot of pleasure and we also enjoyed the hot tub. The owners are especially helpful and responsive to any questions you may have before and during the trip. They even leave a generous goody bag with helpful information and items you might need. Duck is a great area as it is away from the busier parts of the Outer Banks yet there are plenty of restaurants and things to do nearby. We rented wave runners , saw the wild horses in Corolla, and climbed the dunes at Jockey Ridge State Park. We highly recommend this rental and hope to go back some day. We had a fabulous vacation.

  Hello Dave & Sally,  We had a wonderful time and "Just Ducky" was fantastic!!! It had everything that anyone would need or want. The location is great too (so close and convenient)!!! The town was awesome- shopping,eating, biking,kayaking, etc. When we come back to Duck we'll certainly check with you first. Thank you for providing an awesome place for vacationers and the "goody" bag was a sweet surprise. We tried several of the restaurants that you suggested. We probably liked Sugar Creek the best, but it's hard to pick. Thank you again!! Gene & Connie

  We have stayed at “Just Ducky” for several years. We are happy to be repeat clients. The house is just off the beach so we don't have to worry about storms or being crowed by other travelers. We love staying in Duck, unlike Corolla Lights, because it is so close to the shops, restaurants and all points south of the bridge. It is only about 15 miles(?) to the North area and it is an easy drive to the light house and other attractions in that area - -but is great not to have to make that round trip every time we want to go anywhere else. We did that for several years and it got old. Duck is a perfect location. The house is ideal for family, reunions, and groups of friends. The bedrooms are separated and the living space is grand. The new upper deck is awesome and the view is beautiful. There is room for games inside and out and even under the house if you hit a rainy day (and you send the wife off shopping right around the corner to Scarborough Fare). We have found the owners to be a great source of information for the area. They live in Southern Shores and can give guidance for any kind of restaurants, fishing, the four wheel dive area for watching the “wild” horses, and all other local attractions. I am worried about writing this review because I am afraid many others will find out about this gem in the OBX and I will have too much competition for our week. Guess I will just have to sign-up earlier than usual. We will be back in 2012! Gene McNulty Finger Lakes, NYS

  When our children were young, we used to take trips to Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach. As they grew older, we looked for other vacation spots. That’s when we discovered “Just Ducky” in the Outer Banks. Since then, we have vacationed there many times and we fell in love with the beach house, it was so neat, clean, and inviting. It was decorated lovely and it’s literally just a 3 minute walk to the beach; our girls timed it! We liked that the beach was more private than others we had visited, there was always plenty of room to set up our things for the day. My husband would wake us up early in the morning to watch the sunrise from the upper deck of the house or from the sitting area at the end of the boardwalk on the beach. We were able to capture some beautiful pictures; then we would go back to bed! At the end of the day, he would take beautiful pictures of us on the upper deck with the sun setting behind us over the sound. Some of our fondest memories came from our day-long trips to the 4-wheel drive beach in Corolla, where we were able to see wild horses roam the beach. Our girls still talk about being able to see all of the OBX from the top of the lighthouse in Whaleshead Beach. On rainy days, we would enjoy going to the outlet stores in Kitty Hawk. We also enjoyed wandering through the shops at Scarborough Fair. We liked that it was not a “tourist trap.” One year we rented kayaks from the rental shop just up the road from Just Ducky. No matter what the weather was like, there was always something for us to do. As our girls grew older, we created different kinds of memories. We would go out to dinner more often to some of the great restaurants in the Outer Banks and we didn't have as many pizzas delivered anymore! Our most recent memories include grilling by the pool and relaxing in the hot tub with strawberry daiquiris. My husband and I still try to visit even though the girls can’t always fit it into their schedules. I’m certain that as they start their families, they’ll create their own memories. As I write this from our home in N.Y. with temperatures below freezing, I wish we were there,I think I’ll have a daiquiri. -Pam, “Freezing” in N.Y.

  Stayed there on a men only, no wives, get-a-way, in the fall of 2010. Great experience, property was as advertised. Squeaky clean, well maintained and plenty of room to fit our seven comfortably. Meals were taken at a large dining table with more than enough room for seven people. Plenty of pots, pans, plates, silverware, etc. Easy walk to beach for swimming and/or fishing. Those not up for the walk enjoyed the spacious swimmin pool. Plenty of restaurants within a short drive and we were able to enjoy three different golf courses of the many available. The owner was available to answer any inquiries and was very helpful with regards to the location of local attractions. Highly recommend this property for your vacation.

  Of all the rental properties that I and my family and friends have stayed at, over the last ten years, this is by far the best. The property is well kept, the owners are great people, and it's close proximity to the ocean and attractions make it the ideal vacation location, especially for children. I would recommend it to anyone.

  Your beach house was just the right size for our needs. It was comfortable and cozy. Being close to the beach and having the pool allowed us to enjoy both ocean sunbathing and private swimming depending on our mood of the day. Also, being able to walk to the local shops gave us the opportunity to get some exercise while we looked for souvenirs. Would love to stay again sometime. Thanks!
