Believe the reviews. This is a really wonderful house, one of my favorite places I've ever stayed anywhere. We rent houses & apartments often. Some are exactly as advertised, some better, occasionally worse--but the Lincoln Street House is downright sublime. It's very big and ingeniously arranged so that it feels even bigger. The house arches around a walled garden, and nearly every room has a door that opens out into it--the garden really feels like another room. The house itself is beautiful, peaceful. The owner described it as having good juju, and that's about the best description I can think of: it just feels right inside. And the bathtub. The bathtub is magical--a big deep tub next to a set of windows that open into the courtyard--essentially, you can take away the walls of the bathroom, if you want, and take a steamy bath in the cold morning, or a cold bath in the hot afternoon, and look at the sky. Essentially the entire time we were in the house, somebody was in the tub. David, the owner, was incredibly helpful and welcoming. We were sad to leave.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I do not know where to start. I have traveled many places and this was thee best vacation home I have ever stayed in and really made it the best vacation of my life. Because of the tranquility of the home, the stunning architecture, beautiful landscaping, pretty courtyard, nice linens, great lighting, incredible bath tub, it really made it the best trip. From my initial phone call to the property owner, I found that southern hospitality and friendliness which just furthered itself until even after the trip. This is thee only place to stay in Marfa, and we will be returning sooner than later with the kids this time. What this place offers is an amazing retreat for someone solo, a couple getaway, or a family stay. This place is beautiful. I thank the owner again for providing my honey and I a much needed stay in awesome Marfa. The space is something I would aspire my own home to be like.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This place is bare without being uncomfortable, spacious without dwarfing the visitors, and the way the light filters through washed the dust off my tired self. David was hospitable and very fair with the prices. The inner garden is the crown jewel of the place. Go!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The house is quite beautiful and peaceful. David was wonderful and greeted us when we arrived after a very long day of travel. He is very pleasant and helped point us towards restaurants, groceries, and events going on in Marfa. The kitchen has all amenities and opens up to the courtyard with two large doors. Great for enjoying your morning coffee or evening meal. The bathtub/shower were amazing! A few things to note though (especially for city folks)...not all of the doors to the house lock. I did not know this until we arrived and it was a concern. Now, Marfa is very safe, but, being from a large city where I always lock my door–even if just for peace of mind, no locks felt a little uneasy. Also, you may not want to leave the windows or doors open in the latter half of the day because there are no screens on the windows and well, its buggy in Texas. Overall, however, this place is perfect!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We were very pleasantly surprised with our stay at Lincoln St. House. Our host anticipated every need, and the home was truly beautiful! The bathtub was perfect for stargazing, and the back yard is designed to afford total privacy. Very quiet neighborhood within a pleasant walking distance to downtown. It should be noted that this home does not have central air conditioning; there are window units in the bedrooms. But we were there is the middle of summer's heat and never needed to turn them on, due to the insulating properties of adobe....we also learned alot! The house is very spacious with beautiful floors, a well-designed kitchen and lots of light. The pictures do not do justice to this lovingly restored home. We'll stay here again at anytime of year. We can recommend Planet Marfa, Padre's, Jett's, and of course The Food Shark. The Late Night Grilled Cheese at the funky TV Museum was a fabulous find.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The pictures do not do justice to the light and space of the Lincoln Street house. It is airy and spacious, and was great fun for our 4-year-old son's play. We spent four nights here and found it to be perfectly relaxing and comfortable for easy family time. The kitchen is well-equipped and clean. The extra-deep tub with downpour shower head made for some of the best bathing experiences ever -- especially with the shutters open to the private yard. David was a wonderfully welcoming host, and offered valuable help in managing Marfa's limited dining options. We loved walking to shops and restaurants, and visited the nearby tiny playground every morning. The neighbors (and their two kittens) also made us feel at home. This house made our getaway just the right balance between private relaxation and exploring Marfa. If you visit during the warmer months, you will want to take advantage of the two window AC units. If you are careless about leaving screenless windows and doors open, you will be wielding the flyswatters. You will find ample room to stretch out and pretty much any amenity necessary for daily activities. We will certainly be staying here on our next trip to Marfa.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We rented this house over Memorial Day weekend and had a BLAST! The owner met us at the house to introduce us to the place and he is extremely friendly and accommodating. The place was fantastic...super spacious and what a treat the private courtyard was. We spent our mornings in the courtyard getting our caffeine fix and our evenings and nights there under the stars. Quiet neighborhood meant sleeping with the windows open to enjoy the cool desert air! From here, it's an easy walk to everything in Marfa. Certainly would love to stay here again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The Lincoln Street house was a most pleasant and welcoming environment in which to relax, prepare dinner, and converse on the patio while looking up at an wondrous night sky. The studio, reachable through a “secret” passageway or a separate outside entrance, was the perfect retreat in which to work on the Great American Novel. The kitchen was well-appointed (no microwave or dishwasher—neither was missed), the master bedroom was spacious and airy, and the living room was large enough to set up a ping-pong table if we’d wished (we didn’t). And the tub is amazing! The owner was accommodating and most attentive. We stayed but a week; wished we’d had more time.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We rented this home for a month last November and wanted to stay permanently. It's in an ideal location for exploring Marfa or relaxing quietly--only a few blocks from Highland Ave.--yet it feels quite secluded once inside or when spending time in the courtyard. Taking a nighttime bath in the deep porcelain tub while looking at a blanket of stars was one of the highlights of staying here. Each room is spacious and full of warmth with thoughtful architectural details. We loved the high ceilings, recessed lighting, and natural light during the day. Cooking in the kitchen with the french doors open was also a daily treat. The owner was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. We plan to stay here every time we return to visit.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
