“How glorious a greeting the sun gives the mountains!” ~John Muir
Welcome to Sundance! A cabin where these words are never more true. Sundance is located on 54 acres of riverfront property along the banks of the historic Shenandoah River and offers a sweeping western view of the Massanutten Mountains and some of the most spectacular sunsets you will ever see.
Built in October 2011, Sundance is a deluxe 1 bedroom cabin with an equal amount of indoor and outdoor living space. As soon as you arrive you will step into one of the most magnificent views offered in the Shenandoah Valley. Sundance offers a spacious living room with a gas log fireplace, flat screen (satellite) TV, DVD, High Speed Internet and Stereo. The kitchen is fully equipped and for dining you have the option of eating either inside or outside under the large 10’ x 40’ covered porch where you can enjoy nature at best. On the covered porch you will also find a 4 person Hot Tub that is open all year round. The bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan and a patio door where you can step out onto the covered porch and find the mountains in all directions. Both the living room and bedroom offer a 14 foot cathedral ceiling and all natural wood trim. Sundance was designed with the outdoors in mind. Wherever you move throughout the cabin you will never lose sight of the mountains that surround her.
A short 1/4 mile walk through the field will take you to the river where you can relax under the shade of the sycamore trees, dip your feet into the Shenandoah or have a relaxing evening around a fire.
No matter where you come from, once you arrive at Sundance you will agree with the age old saying, “Nature never goes out of style”.

Nestled in the trees, this space provides complete relaxation. It is situated high enough to allow an incredible view of the mountains and tree tops and peek at the Shenandoah River. The hike down and back to the river is refreshing. Sitting on the porch allows a 180 degree view of lightening flashing miles off. A blast from the past was catching the show that the lightening bugs gave every night. The cabin itself is warm and inviting. Just the right amount of space for 2 adults. Very modern all conveniences and no work. Owner is quick to respond to any call placed with questions or needs. The week couldn't have been better.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+.

This is the ultimate romantic getaway location. The view is breathtaking and watching the sunset in the hot tub will be something I will never forget. The owner of the cabin was super nice and very accomodating. When we arrived there were even fresh baked cookies waiting for us in the kitchen. The river is a short walk from the cabin and the firepit was stocked with firewood which was another wonderful surprise. Everything about this location was top notch and we can't wait to visit "Sundance" cabin again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Sundance has an amazing view from the bedroom, porch, living room, and (more importantly) the hot tub! Everything was clean and well-maintained. I appreciated the extra amenities like the ipod sound system, newer appliances, etc. 50 minute drive to Massanutten and short drive to Luray Caverns. I would love to come back here in the summer! This rental has absolute privacy and a nice walk down the the river front. The bedroom does not have curtains and you can see into the bedroom from the porch, which is fine for a couple, but may be weird for friends or a family. Overall, a great place!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed your stay. The views are so spectacular from the bedroom at Sundance that we decided to put curtains only on the windows. With the privacy the deck offers we thought waking to that gorgeous view was so much more satisfying without curtains on the sliding glass door. Thank you for coming to our cabin in the mountains.

This a great place to relax and chill. No pressure of any type. Only minutes from the Skyline Drive. Very secluded and just enough off the beaten path to still have access to hiking, caverens, canoeing and resturants if you want. I took my Autistic son with me the cabin was perfect for us. Very accomadating, great views and not presumptuous or over decorated. This is a very comfortable cabin you can relax and enjoy the views. stephen jonesRecommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, families with young children, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

The minute you walk around the deck to the door you are captivated by the amazing view and huge covered deck. A private, romantic getaway! Woodside Cabins is tucked away in the Shenandoah Valley and run by Derek - who was great to deal with. We stayed in the Sundance cabin (there are two others near by) - a one bedroom - right on the Shenandoah River. Acres and acres. What a view! Hot tub on the COVERED deck overlooking the view of the valley. sitting in the tops of the trees and you can watch the hawk hunt. fire pit down on the river with chairs for comfort. 2 big meadows where deer wander in the mornings. paths along the river. gas fireplace. great kitchen. washer and dryer. fantastic bathroom and shower. new flat screen TV. wifi. brought our laptop and hdmi and watched movies at night and when it rained. clean clean clean. Very private. a fantastic get away and only 1 hour and 20 minutes from DC. Highly recommended. 15 minutes from Front Royal and 10 minutes from Luray. Bring your food and booze, grab a cocktail and get in that hot tub and watch the sunset and forget everything else! We can't wait to return as soon as possible.Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We will definitely stay here again. The cabin, which is new, is really nice inside and out. The cabin sits on I believe 50 acres which makes it so quiet and private. From the cabin you have an amazing view of the Shenandoah river, which borders the property, and the mountains on the other side of the river. We enjoyed kayaking in the river. We also loved sitting in the hot tub enjoying the view. The pictures on this site do not do the property justice. It was such a great place to stay. The owner, Derek, was also a great person to deal with. There is a lot to do in the area and the owner left a binder filled with information on things to do and placed to eat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The pictures do not do justice. As soon as we walked in, we were welcomed by the warmth of this cabin. This property is surrounded by mountains, providing complete privacy. The views from the hot tub were simply amazing! We loved that we could bring our dog with us. Make sure to read the binder left on the table by the owner. Filled w. good tips to know. Town Luray, 7 mile away, has all the essentials and interesting delis. We will surely return again soon!!!!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: My name is Derek Goebel. I have been in the vacation rental business since 1998. I have lived in the Shenandoah Valley for 42 years and would like to share her beauty with you.
Why the Owner Chose Luray:
Designed and built by Woodside Cabins, Sundance has been customized to benefit from its location by incorporating as much of the view into its setting as possible. With the outdoors in mind it has as much living space inside as outside. When you visit you will agree with Thoreau when he wrote,
“It is the marriage of the soul with Nature that makes the intellect fruitful, and gives birth to imagination.”.
