In addition to all the amenities that can be found throughout the beach community you will find many happy times at our beach house. There are 6 bedrooms (not including the owner's quarters). There are two on the main living floor. The beach side bedroom has a queen size bed and a private bath. the front bedroom has a double and a single bed and a private shower bath. Upstairs there are four beach side bedrooms that all have private baths and a door to the outside balcony overlooking the deck and beach. the upstairs north bedroom has a queen bed and a single sleeper couch. This suite is also connected to a separate reading TV room that has a single sleeper couch. The middle north bedroom has a full size and a twin bed. the middle south bedroom has two twin beds. The south bedroom has a queen bed.
Thirty-two years ago, my wife and I built this beach house on the secluded beach of DeBordieu, We have seen turtles hatching, birds migrating by the thousands, calm seas and hurricanes. We have walked the pristine beach with no other soul in sight. There have been breathtaking sunrises and full moons that cannot be described, only witnessed and felt. The soft sound of the waves breaking on the beach has dissipated the stress of work, and when the water becomes angry and the storms and lightning display their fireworks, there is an excitement that revitalizes the spirit. We have found something primeval about the coast and our beach house that not only attracts the physical but also the inner spirit. We hope you also will find excitement and solace here.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE !! That because we are located on the beachfront - on the dunes, and we have a seawall at the front of the dunes and steps going down to the beach. Tide vary, and on most low and middle tides the steps give access to the beach, but at high tides the beach access is always available from our front entrance and a few yards to the south where you can gain access to the beach at all tides (see map). Many of our guests find that this is not an inconvenience, but a positive, since they can fish from the steps deck at high tides. Also, this is a time when everyone can come off of the beach and bond with their family and friends. We hope you can find this time and tide a positive also.

There are many gated communities along the Carolina coast, but without a question the “best kept secret” is DeBordieu Colony. Located just four miles north of historic Georgetown and eight miles south of Pawleys Island, DeBordieu is the southernmost beach community of the Grand Strand. Not only is the community a vacation paradise, but also a wildlife and nature treasure. As you enter the security gate you will travel several miles through a forest filled with deer, beaver, wild turkey, rabbits and other protected creatures. Before you reach the marsh that separates the beach community from the mainland, there is an excellent tennis facility on the right and a championship Pete Dye designed golf course on the left.

We just returned from the Jackson House yesterday. I had read several reviews before leaving for our trip. I was excited from the day we booked the house. John and Lee are so gracious and the house showed just how much. We had a total of 16 staying there for our youngest son's wedding. The 7 year old proclaimed the house "awesome." We all agreed. The house is nestled between two other houses, and it is hidden from the main view. We felt like we were in our own world. There was something for everyone. The older grandchildred found the basketball and were off the shoot hoops. The younger ones discovered the swimming pool and they were off. There was a pool table, ping pong table, and games for everyone. The magazine selection was amazing and the videos had not been viewed before. The house just said, "Come on in, enjoy yourselves and have fun," We had no trouble following the rules. Everyone had a bed and we did not have to knock on bathroom doors and say time's up! The back porch was my favorite and I spent my time there relaxing. John was right, the ocean was right at the back door. We have all decided to save up our money and spend a week or weekend there when we can just relax. We had a lot of running to do, but we certainly followed the number one house rule "Have Fun!" We will have wonderful memories of the wedding and they started with the house. Thanks John and LeeRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Jane, Thanks for that nice review. Lee and I are delighted that everything worked out for everyone in the family and the Jackson Beach House was everything you expected and more. We constantly work to make it a favorite place.

Dear Lee and John. On behalf of our family, I want to extend our thanks to you for the enjoyment of your lovely beach home for our Mom's 80th birthday family gathering. The home is lovely...the layout was perfect...and the family camaraderie was priceless! We enjoyed long walks on the beach, Low-Country Boils on the screened porch, fresh seafood from Murrell's Inlet, and beautiful sunrises from our bedroom balconies. This home has certainly tattooed a sweet spot on all of our hearts, and we look forward to spending another family vacation there in the future! Again, many, many thanks for accommodating our crew! I stayed at the Jackson's Debordieu with a large group of friends for a long weekend. The house is great - perfect location, lots of space, very homey, and an amazing screened in porch and open back deck with lots of rocking chairs. Not to mention the beautiful view - on the beach, and at high tide the water comes up to the deck. With a group of 15, I was worried we might be a little cramped, but there was more than enough room in both the common areas and plenty of beds for everyone to sleep. While the house was amazing, I cannot say enough about the owners. They were very helpful and accomodating - they set up a temporary membership to the club for us to use during our visit. They made sure we had everything we needed before we arrived and were always available if we needed anything while we were there. I would recommend this house to any family or group of friends looking for a relaxing vacation at the beach!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: We are so very fortunate to have such great rental guests grace our beach house. With these guests the beach house is converted into a beach HOME. Thanks for your warm comments. Lee and John

We loved our week at the Jackson's Debordieu Beach Front home. We hated to leave. The community was great. We were able to go to the pools, fish and jog around the community. Of couse, the beach front location was great. The home was well kept and clean. The Jackson's are great communicators and very responsive. You can tell they love their home and the people they share it with.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: When great people visit our beach house they always leave a positive imprint that stays after they leave. You can build a house and locate it in a wonderful location, but it's the folks that visit that makes the difference. Thank you for sharing your vacation and your imprint on our beach house.

We have been staying at the Jackson House for years and years! Just got back from the most wonderful week there. We filled every bedroom and never felt that we were crowded. Plenty of room to claim your own space! One of our favorite activities, besides cocktails on the porch, is to watch the water fireworks as the waves hit the sea wall. Breathtaking! The upstairs deck provides a space for just sitting and also is a great place to take photographs. The kitchen is big enough for several people and is perfectly equipped. Love the new additions! If you like to eat out, there are great restaurants close by in Georgetown or Pawley's Island. The Rice Paddy is always a favorite, as is Frank's. Roz's Rice Mill at the Hammock Shops is a great place for lunch after a morning of shopping. Another great feature is fishing, whether from the surf or from the steps at high tide. If you bring a boat, there is a great launch site. I could go on and on about the wonderful features of this house. Just know that we can't wait to get back year after year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Through the years our rental guests have become more like family. We try and add special touches to our beach house each year for our rental families to enjoy. The Jackson Beach house is just that - a family beach house. There are other rental houses on the beach that are more elegant, but none that are more fun for the whole family. Thank you Vicky for that nice review. See you and your family next year. John and Lee

My bridal party and I had an exceptional time at the Jackson's home located in DeBordieu. The home is on the beach and a stone's throw from the ocean (actually, at high tide, the ocean comes up to the porch!) We had a total of 13 people stay at the house and had more than enough room to accommodate everyone. Each room had its own private bath - which proved important considering their were 5 married couples and 3 single girls staying at the house. Each morning, we would get up and drink coffee on the back balcony while cathing-up and listening to and looking at the ocean. During low-tide, we were able to walk down the stairs of the porch directly onto the beach and take the lovely walk down south beach. Even during high tide, the public access to south beach is only two houses down, making the convenience of having the ocean that close a definate plus. The house has a very spacious kitchen which is very important! Down stairs, there is a pool table and ping-pong table (which was my fiance's favorite!) We had an absolute blast spending time with old friends and were very gratefuly the house not only pulled us together in one spot, but was spacious enough for each couple to have their own individual space (and second floor balcony!) I would recommend this house highly to anyone wanting to stay beach-side. There is nothing more convenient than watching the ocean with a cool beverage from the fridge and a readily accessible restroom!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Best wishes from the Jackson's for a wonderful marriage. We are pleased that our beach house was instrumental in helping your bridal party have a great time together.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1979
About the owner: My wife and I owned a chain of photographic stores and an audiovisual design and sales company in South Carolina. We were blessed enough to have children and a nice home on a farm near Columbia, SC, where my daughter and son-in-law have horses and cats. We have a miniature poodle (Sunny) that thinks she's a large pit bull. We not only enjoy our farm, but a small lake house and of course the beach. I am a Rotarian and a volunteer business counselor with the SCORE organization. We are both involved with our church and community. I enjoy golf, genealogy, art, woodworking, boating, work around the farm, fish and release, and good friends. On evenings I particularly enjoy sitting on our porch with my wife and a glass of wine.
Why the Owner Chose Georgetown:
When my wife and I were at a business conference at a beach near DeBordieu in 1977, we enjoyed the sound of the waves strumming on the shore so much that we decided to search for a place to build a beach house. After a number of visits to different beach locations we happened upon the DeBordieu development. It was in the early stages of being developed and was still in a wild state with wildlife everywhere and dirt roads to the south beach. After being blocked on 'Old Carriage Road' by a large deer, we decided this was the place we were looking for. We started construction in 1978 and had our first stay in our new home in the Fall of 1979. After hurricane Hugo we did a great deal of rebuilding and remodeling. Of course, with a beach house this is an on going pleasure. We also like to explore the historic towns of Georgetown and Charleston. In Georgetown we like to dine at several fine restaurants. Our favorite is the River Room on Front street in Georgetown.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Although, most of our guests enjoy the beach in the summer, we find that each season has it's own uniqueness. We always enjoy seeing the birds migrating in the spring and fall, the full moons rising, the glow and reflection of the sunsets, shrimp boats working, pelicans and osprey fishing, walking the beach with our poodle and being careful to pickup poop, all these things and best of all just being still and absorbing the beauty and wonder of nature.
