Coming from Australia, we were really pleased we allowed two weeks for our stay in this superbly situated and elegantly appointed three level Tuscan villa, designed by our hosts David and Karen just over two years ago. It meant we could plan our days according to the weather (mostly sunny spring days in our case) and how we felt. Cappelle di Pancole is a very spacious, clean and comfortable home to relax in over a good book, in front the open fire, or simply lounging outside around the large table on the enormous terrace overlooking lovely gardens and lawn leading on to a 180° view of the surrounding forest-covered hills. In the summer months the pool would be a popular alternative. The villa is also a welcome home to return to after a long walk through the 1100 hectare estate, or a half or full day drive to one or more of the many beautifully preserved medieval towns and villages which surround this much loved area of Italy, where we sampled some of the finest food and wine, and visited many charming markets and shops. Our villa had everything included we could wish for: the best quality kitchen appliances, comfortable sofas, TV, including a variety of English news channels, excellent WiFi connection, fabulously comfortable beds and enormous showers with a strong and steady flow of soft water. While most Information about all aspects of the villa and its surrounds was clearly and comprehensibly provided in a book, David and Karen were also very happy to supplement this with their extensive knowledge of the region. On their recommendation we enjoyed some excellent meals in nearby restaurants. We were very sorry when the time came to leave. Pancole had become a home away from home, where we could relax and enjoy the Chianti at our leisure and feel part of the scene. And this is just one of many reasons to return to this beautiful and unspoilt part of Italy.

Owner response: This friendly party from Australia and England were able to experience some of the many delights of Tuscany but at the same time, appreciating the comforts of the Villa and its beautiful surroundings, like a home away from home. Karen & David

Our group of 6 stayed in Karen and David's amazing villa. Everything was not only as described but even better. The setting for this villa is right out of a movie. We spent most every evening and morning on our patio enjoying the spectacular views afforded us. It could not have been more perfect and exceeded our expectations. The villa, its wonderful amenities and views were only exceeded by our lovely host and hostess who resided in the adjacent property. Karen and David could not have been more accommodating to us. Every recommendation was on point and we shared some special cocktail hours with them. Our welcoming package was the best we have ever encountered and provided an excellent beginning to our stay in the Siena area. Wonderful wines were in our "Welcome Basket" as well as ample food supplies for several meals. I only apologize for taking so long to write of our experience with this villa and the owners. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone who is looking for a luxury accommodation and the special experience of meeting Karen and David. They are truly special people and make you feel welcome as if you were their family. Thank you so much for sharing this experience with Ed and I, Jackie and Bill and Jim and Mo. It could not have been lovelier. Ciao.

Owner response: Our guests comprised 3 friendly couples from Florida. They obviously enjoyed socialising together in the spacious communal areas of the Villa, but at the same time appreciated their own privacy because of the layout of the bedrooms and the 3 en suite bathrooms. We enjoyed meeting them. Karen & David

I organized a week in Tuscany for 3 couples (myself/husband included) and I am a very detailed person, wanting everything to be perfect for our friends. And it was, so I really hate to give away my little secret about this place, but it is perfect!!! We all cook and looking at the kitchen pictures we were a bit concerned about the space...not to worry, everything was there and one of us, who is a professional chef was more than pleased with everything in the kitchen. The nitty gritty parts: The rooms were in a great location for privacy. Everyone felt like there was a place to go to read a book in silence if they wanted to. The bathrooms were to die for and never, ever a problem with hot water or water flow (a big deal in Italy). Laundry room was such a bonus. All appliances worked perfectly. Everything is maintained. The location was so pretty and so peaceful - yet pretty close to lots of fun. David and Karen were available if needed but not 'nosey'. Conclusion: People, you just don't find places that work out this well and are so well equipped that often. So if you are thinking of renting in this area of Tuscany do yourself a favor and think about renting this place. Just save a week or two for my return! FYI we were in Italy almost a month. Stayed many places and no matter what country we were in, we would return to this house again in a heartbeat.

Owner response: It was with great pleasure that we were able to greet Laura, David and their friends as our guests to the Cappella. Most importantly, we were gratified to learn that the new kitchen, with these resident chefs and foodies, passed the test with flying colours. David & Karen.

There were 6 of us staying in the villa; ma, pa plus two offspring and their partners. Ma and Pa took the downstairs bedroom while the others took the top floor - perfect! Everything was exactly as described on the website listings; all to the highest standard and some very nice touches such as the arrival pack, the games and the iPod docking station for our own music. Perfectly clean, well equipped and the owners were friendly, knowledgable and attentive to our comments and needs. We loved the patio area and took full advantage of the barbecue - making nightly raids to the owner's wood pile - with their full permission :-) Lots of places to visit within an hours drive; deepest 'Chiantishire', plus the unmissable San Gimingano, and the incomparable Siena. Its difficult to believe that there are so many beautiful and interesting places within easy reach. The Villa Arceno estate is lovely and perfect for taking lots of pictures. We made use of the bikes to explore the immediate area, but beware of the hills! On one of our outings we came across a wild boar running down the track in front of the car. We would thoroughly recommend the villa to anyone looking for some quality time, in a beautiful and luxurious villa, in amazing surroundings. First class all the way. Many thanks - we'd happily recommend you to friends and family and would love to come again.

Hi. We are from the Province of Québec, Canada. We rented this superb villa for two weeks. We were two couples. It was a wonderfull experience in all respects. The owners (a nice couple in the late fifties) have their own villa not too far; but they allways made sure to preserve and respect our intimacy and privacy; they are from Australia and very nice people. They enquired many times to make sure that everything was OK and to make sure that we had anything we needed. The villa is recently built; not to say new; but with an incredible charm. Pictures shown by the owner on this site are real and accurate and truly represent the place. Nothing was missing in this house. It is decorated with taste and in respect with its environment, i.e. Tuscany ! Absolutely everything in the villa was fully operational. We even had quality mountain bikes at our disposal. Beds are extremely comfortable. The vue … well, I cannot find the words to describe it ! 180 degrees uninterrupted view on the surrounding mountains …. It is pixel consuming ! We are quite high in the mountain, so we see far (40 kilometres). The land around the villa is vast and very nicely landscaped …. Lavander, rosemary, olive trees, cypresses, and I ignore the names of all the other plantations … The villa is spacious … plenty of room for six …. Even though we were four . We appreciated very much the fact that the villa is right in the middle of Tuscany …. Easy to make day trips to Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza, San Gimignano, Sienna, Cortona, Florence, Radda, Greve, Montereggioni, Arrezzo, etc … in other words, very central place . We offered to the owners not to hesitate to give our particulars to whoever wants more information about this incredible place …. Do not hesitate to ask them, as the case may be …

Owner response: Christian and the others made the most of their 2 week stay. We very much enjoyed meeting them and hope to see them return soon. David & Karen

Bonjour.

We arrived at your villa for a 6 day holiday on May 11th We were 3 couples Upon arrival we were greeted warmly by the owners David & Karen.Immediately we saw that we had come to the Garden Of Eden, the villa in on top of the hill and the view is breathtaking. The villa is so lovely and great care is taken with its upkeep, one feels at once that the owners made very sure that it has everything necessary to make the stay there very pleasant in these wonderful surroundings. The owners are a lovely couple who speak English, which made it easier to communicate with them and receive their recommendation on where to visit so that we could enjoy our vacation to the maximum There is no doubt that the beautiful villa and the wonderful hospitality we received made this vacation a most pleasant and memorable one for all of us We highly recommend this villa to everyone who really wants to enjoy their holiday in Toscana and if we ever decide to visit Toscana again we shall be sure to come there and stay with the wonderful Conti couple Thank you from all of us ; ..Sarit & Izak, Michal & Rami, Orna & Rony

Owner response: We were delighted to welcome Izak and his group. They were enthusiastic about visiting the great Renaissance and medieval towns of Tuscany, but also enjoyed being able to return to the serenity of the Villa and its surroundings including the sun basking on the terrace and private garden.

Serendipity is defined as the act of making fortunate discoveries, and precisely describes what it is to have found Capella di Pancole, a beautiful villa set in the heart of the Tuscan countryside. As if the spectacular view from the terrace were not enough, the attention to detail in every aspect of David and Karen Conti’s ‘home-away-from-home” renders it truly a treasure in terms of pampered accommodation. From the comfortable beds and private baths, to the well-appointed kitchen, to the beautifully landscaped surroundings, to the cornucopian welcome basket, you will feel as if you’ve walked into a dream-come-true. With the little village of Castelnuovo Berardenga a short distance away, La Pancole makes a very convenient and comfortable home-base for exploring this magical part of Italy. We were a group of 3 couples, so the layout of the villa perfectly suited our needs. Having the bedrooms away from the main floor allowed those who are early risers to enjoy their coffee in the morning sun without waking those who preferred to slumber a little longer. We cooked several of our evening meals in the villa, and the Contis have taken great care to provide the necessary facilities for doing so. Being able to dine in and eat on the terrace overlooking the incredible view was one of the highlights of our stay. From this central location we were able to explore the surrounding cities and villages – Siena, Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza, Volterra, San Gimignano, as well as explore the area immediately surrounding the estate. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Locando di Tomasso in Castelnuovo Berardenga, as well as a wonderful dinner in San Gusme at the lively Sira e Remino. One experience that particularly stands out for us was the opportunity to have a cooking lesson right at the villa. We had organized this prior to our trip, and were quite looking forward to the experience. We were met at the little Thursday market in Castelnuovo B’ga and selected the appropriate fresh ingredients for our little feast, after which we returned to La Pancole and under expert tutelage, prepared a lunch fit for a king. Definitely worth looking into! Find the reference for this in the information binder in the villa. Anyone looking to spend extended time in the Tuscany area could do no better than to book Capella di Pancole, but I’d suggest you do it quickly. Once word is out about this hidden gem, tourists will be flocking there like pigeons to St. Mark's Square!!

The description of Capella Di Pancole in VRBO is absolutely accurate. The sentiments expressed in the previous two reviews are entirely supported. My wife and I spent twelve days here in the second half of April 2012. With us for most of the time were our son, our daughter and our bson's partner; ages ranging from late 20s to early 30s. Probably the most telling compliment is that, after moving to Capella Di Pancole, all three rearranged their ongoing vacation plans to extend their stay here; notwithstanding the very "iffy" weather. Based on our experience the property is ideally suited to two or three couples, or a family of up to six plus a baby. The spaciousness of the bedrooms, the two terraced areas, the lawn and the 3.5 bathrooms provide for a huge amount of individual privacy if required. The central indoor dining and living area are spacious yet convivial. Best of all, from an Australian's point of view, all bathrooms have full sized walk in shower alcoves with glass screens!!!!! The only recommended restaurant we tried was Locando Di Thomasso. It was so good we just kept returning. We also thought the Chainti Classico made by the estate winery was excellent. Probably the only thing to note is that it is a 15 minute drive to any sort of shopping and much of this drive is on "white" (ie unsurfaced) roads. Similarly there is no public transport just down the corner. However this is small inconvenience for everything else. David and Karen's commitment to their guests enjoyment is exemplified by our experience. We rang David at 08:30 on a Sunday morning after the sewage system in our existing accommodation had gone badly awry. By 16:00 on Sunday we were comfortably relocated; notwithstanding the property only having been vacated the previous day. We will be forever grateful. There are beautiful views from every window. The location is very private and tranquil. A magic place for rest and relaxation and ideally located to explore the rest of Tuscany. D&R. Australia

Owner response: We were pleased to hear that Dennis and Rosemary with their lovely family enjoyed their stay because , on the whole, they did not experience good weather. However, they nevertheless found the new Villa to be comfortable and cosy making good use of the fireplace in the evenings. David & Karen.

We spent a week in this beautiful villa located within a large property with vineyards and olive groves. The house is exactly as described, perfectly clean, in excellent condition and with all the necessary appliances by prestigious brands, in fact it is even more beautiful as it appears in the photographs because there is a lot of attention to detail. David and Karen are wonderful people, they welcomed us with great kindness, indeed our dog found a bowl for water only for him and, in the welcome pack (including all products of the highest quality), a snack for dogs. On the dining room table is a notebook where you can find any information you need: restaurants, surrounding areas and each instruction for the use of appliances in the house. Moreover, Karen and David are always available for any questions or need advice. The house is so nice that sometimes you don’t feel the need to go away and so we spent our evenings by the fireplace and during the day we had long walks in the woods or enjoyed the sun loungers on the terrace. A trip to Siena, which is about 30 min drive, is very interesting, as it is nice to go to the Baths of Rapolano that are quite the same distance. You can go in the Val d'Orcia, which is really beautiful in spring, or visit the wineries in the Chianti area in the small town of Castellina, Radda and Greve. For us it was a really relaxing holiday and we look forward to returning again! Maria and Stefano

We are looking forward to seeing them on their return for their next holiday here. Karen & David
