Morning Glory Cottage - Intimacy Within the Endless Prairie.
- Minimum stay:N/A

- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
Approaching “Morning Glory Cottage” is stepping into a dream. Available for weekends, vacations or even sabbaticals, this attractive home and its (separate) guest cottage together with the carport form a splendid Shangri-la on Matfield Green’s north side. Hidden by dense evergreens from the buzz of the town - not that there is much buzz, with less than 50 names in the town’s phone book, outlying ranches included - the intimate property borders wide meadows and grasslands and has a tree-line on the horizon.
The main house is reached by following a path of locally found limestone boulders to the cosy covered front porch. There is an open kitchen in the living area, which connects to a small study and to the bedroom with a queen-size bed, to a sunroom with a daybed to relax on, and to the back porch. Don’t bring anything to read – there are books everywhere, most with titles on nature, health, philosophy, politics, history, social issues, life in general, and of course the prairie. Comfortable furniture surrounds you. The bathroom has an old-style deep tub.
It is thirty steps to the small guest cottage, which is offering a 3/4-size bed. This is just THE place to camp out in great comfort, but it doesn’t have its own bathroom (the door to the one in the main house is close).
Both main house and guest cottage were built in the late 1920’s Dust Bowl period and transported to Matfield Green in 2005.
Main house and guest cottage – so well suited for get-togethers of a small family or a circle of friends - are rented together. Artists and writers can ask for the special rate if they intend to stay for an extended time.
Keywords: Quiet, cozy cottage surrounded by trees and wide open landscape.

We had the best WEEK here at your beautiful home and in Matfield. My oldest daughter set up camp at your desk, reading, writing and drawing ... while the younger two lounged around, reading of course! It was fun seeing the bunny family every night and watching the young doe out back. I was hanging towels to dry one morning, and there she came across the field and behind the little cottage in back ... wow! You have such a cozy home, we will be back soon!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you very much for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful home so far away from home. I loved your cook books! We hope we will return in the near future to Matfield Green.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The area and the cottage were well worth the 8 hour drive I had made from Denver. I was very impressed with the house and the surrounding acreage,it is truly breathtaking. Warm days gave way to cool, quiet nights and misty, bird filled mornings. Full kitchen and bookshelves added to the total ambiance of the cottage. Hiking and biking out the front door are supreme and air conditioning is perfect for napping afterwards. Matfield is charming and the caretakers are helpful and very knowledgeable regarding the area. I will be back!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you! I'm looking forward to your next stay in the fall.

I love it.. Writing this review even before departing since I'm appreciating it so. The tall grass prairies are calming, butterflies glorious, blue flowers delicious, Morning Glory Cottage so welcoming and comfortable. .. Beyond expectation. Beautifully maintained home, great bed, kitchen made me want to prepare lovely meals, but it was more fun to eat at local gormet restaurants. The Caretaker is gracious, welcoming, and ever so helpful. She is knowledgable, enthusiastic, and loves Chase county and the surroundings. I have already told three friends they MUST come for at least a week. I'll be returning too!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

With busy schedules and young children quiet time and relaxation is hard to find. Morning Glory Cottage was just what we needed for a quick one night's stay with literally hundreds and hundreds of books to rummage through. If you can't relax in this wonderful quaint, interesting and charming house you can't anywhere. We will return soon.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.
