We had a wonderful time staying at this very clean and comfortable home. It is a short walk to a very beautiful beach. The large fenced yard was great for our two dogs. Mary Ann, the owner, was very helpful with any questions we had. We would definitely stay at this place again and highly reccommend it to our family & friends.

We really enjoyed our stay. House was very clean. We were only a short walk to the beach. I guess we didn't read the fine print and were not expecting the bedrooms to be separated, but after going back and reviewing all the fine print we did see where the down stairs apartment was included in the details. We had to search for the 2nd bedroom in the basement aka: downstairs apartment, which you have to go through the garage to get to. However, it ended up working out just fine and we enjoyed our stay. Very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. I also appreciated getting a call from the owner on our 2nd day to make sure everything was going well. That was a pleasant surprise! Hope everyone else enjoys their stay as much as us 6 girls did :-)

Owner response:So happy our guests enjoyed their stay at Sunset Palms! We work very hard to fully disclose and paint a clear detailed picture of this classic beach cottage on Isle of Palms. These guests did not read the detailed description info of the setup of the house/bedrooms on the VRBO website which is not in "fine" print, but standard size print. The 6th paragraph down on VRBO Listing states (Please note "OUTSIDE" is in all capital letters): "Down the back OUTSIDE steps is downstairs apartment which is rustic similar to finished basement atmosphere" . . . In same paragraph: "Through door and few steps through carpeted beach toy area w/foosball table is large fourth bedroom with queen bed." Please note you enter the downstairs apartment on the back side of house through a standard door, not garage door. Also to fourth bedroom is standard door, not garage door, and pass through what used to be garage and is now carpeted beach and pool toy/foosball table area to 4th bedroom. Also for clarification, as "basement" is misleading, please note the downstairs is simply a bottom floor, not a basement. There are no basements on Isle of Palms. The main living area is on the second floor. We appreciate your feedback and chance to clarify these issues, so there are no future misunderstandings. Everything as pictured and described! We enjoyed our visit for our son's wedding nearby and felt totally at home here. It was wonderful to be able to relax between all the wedding preparation. We were able to spend time with family, visiting downtown Charleston and nearby Patriot Point, and was able to have a few of the wedding party over the next day with a relaxing BBQ, catching up on each others lives, since we all live in different states and hadn't seen each other in a few years. Weren't able to walk beach or fish as we had planned since weather was a bit cold but look forward to possible staying again when visiting Charleston. We loved everything about our stay. Thank you again.

Just returned from staying at this property and can't recommend it enough! We had such a fabulous time in the area. The home is very close to the beach, is well maintained, and the owner is great to work with. There is a lot to do in within just a few minutes drive of the house. This house was in the perfect location for all we wanted to see & do while in the Charleston area. We're already talking about how we'd love to return soon!

Vacation with puppies

This was a great place to take a vacation. Very relaxing and all the amenities were fantastic. We felt very much at home and our dogs really enjoyed the property as well. Would definitely return for many future vacations.

I spent some time deciding where to stay. Of course with two couples and dogs we needed privacy and a roomy fenced yard. This place fit the bill and then some. The pool was such a bonus for us and the walk to the beach was actually just around the corner. Very beautiful area. We normally spend our beach vacations further up the coast but we're sold. I have a strong feeling we'll be regular IOP visitors! You can't go wrong with this one.

We enjoyed our recent stay and found the cottage to be clean and well equipped. The listing pictures are fair and accurate. The owners were very responsive and easy to deal with. The location is close to the beach but also convenient to Charleston. We would rent this cottage again. Thanks for the wonderful stay!

Although this is an older home, it is quite well maintained and clean and more than roomy for the 5 of us that have been staying here plus a couple guests that came by and stayed. The dock is a great asset as well as our son likes to fish and enjoyed that. Rates are the most reasonable I found on this website, so I have to admit I wondered what we were going to see when we arrived! My wariness was definitely put to rest when we walked in. Feels like someplace I could call home and we loved staying here! Thinking of coming for more than the 2 weeks we stayed here this time in the future. Owners are great to deal with.

We grew up in Charleston and we come to visit our families several times a year. We enjoyed the house - very cozy and we felt right at home. Downstairs was perfect for the boys and the backyard for the dogs. Convenient for family and friends to visit and for us to visit them. Enjoyed the dock and walks on the beach. The owners were great to deal with too! Thanks!

We just got back from a wonderful weekend stay (for The Citadel's parent's weekend) made all the better because of this great house! The house was just as depicted if not better. Warm and homey, with tons of room. Fenced back yard was great for the dog. We even got to swim in October! Coconut Joe's was excellent as usual. Overall great experience. Owners were super, quick to respond, helpful and friendly, even calling to check and make sure everything was ok. I would definitely recommend this place.

Working Vacation (New Jersey)

For over ten years we've taken a working vacation to I of P, and this is by far the best house we've chosen. It had plenty of room for our group. The house is immaculate, cozy, and beautifully decorated - yet comfortable enough for all of us to feel at home. Add to these accomodations the backyard pool and use of the dock, and you can't beat this for a vacation getaway. The owners are readily available and anxious to help in any way possible. I was so pleased with the rental that I booked it for next year as soon as I got home.

We canceled our gulf vacation at the last minute and lucked out finding this cozy cottage just a short walk from the beach. We felt very at home and had plenty of room enjoy our stay. Great fenced in back yard for dogs and a pool! Amazing sunsets can be watched from enclosed front porch. The location is convenient to everything: beach, downtown Charleston, shopping, etc.
